A Rocky Spoof
Jimmy_the_Gent424 April 2020
A pretty funny episode, most of it is a spoof of "Rocky"

First we see a promo for a new show "Those Funny Guys" with a bunch of goofballs doing and saying stupid things.

Dave Thomas and Catherine O'Hara play sports casters Keith and Phyllis, who introduce a film of Hefty Neil (John Candy) a fat boxer modeled on the Rocky character. Andrea Martin plays the painfully shy and inaudible girlfriend. Joe Flaherty imitates Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, who offers to manage Hefty.

Then Earl does some promos for the news, promising salacious stories, Floyd yells at him. There is PSA on shoplifting as O'Hara gets caught stealing in a store and ends up being tortured by the store maniacs, A hilarious commercial follows for 50 Psalms recited by Kirk Douglas, Barbra Streisand, Margaret Hamilton and John Wayne.

Back to Hefty Neil, we see him training by eating a lot and running up the steps of a stadium with beer and hot dog.

Some funny promos with Eugene Levy as an orderly in a hospital and Harold Ramis as a court clerk.

Then the fight of Hefty Neil and the champion. It doesn't take as long as they thought and Keith and Phyllis try to fill in the time as the credits roll.
