An unsung master of movie magic, Solon Luigi Colani has worked on some of the biggest Hollywood movies ever shot in Germany and beyond, among them works by Quentin Tarantino, Ron Howard, George Clooney, Denis Villeneuve, Paul W.S. Anderson, Gore Verbinski and the Wachowskis.
His enormous range of practical visual effects have also become regular fixtures in Germany’s domestic film and TV industry, where he has helped filmmakers and showrunners bring their visions to life.
In Matthias Glasner’s current Berlinale Competition screener “Dying,” for example, he created a pneumatic pump, hose system and the necessary chunky liquid for a dramatic scene in which a character falls ill at the Berlin Philharmonic concert hall.
Colani established his Berlin-based company Pyro Labs in the 1990s as a side business while working as a young It specialist. Initially focused on firework displays for weddings, birthday parties and other live events, the...

Everett Grant has beef with Russian mobster Maxim Vasiliiv played by Oleg Prudius or if you’re a pro wrestling fan, Vladimir Kozlov. It seems Everett’s security company has been cutting into the Russian mob’s profits and they’re not happy about that. Since Phoenix is an action film, they decide to settle it with a fight to the death. That would be Everett’s death via a bullet to the head made to look like suicide.
WWE wrestler Natalie Eva Marie plays Everett’s daughter Fiona, Phoenix to her friends. She’s told of his death by General Shackleton. She knows he would never have killed himself and decides to put her hand-to-hand combat trainer’s skills to work finding answers.

Yes folks you read that title right…Nerdly has joined British Gothic Horror The Baby in the Basket, which stars Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey), teaming with Shepka Productions and Flickering Myth on the production.

For the first time in a while, many fans of The Masked Singer are stumped. A new mask, Mantis, was introduced during The Masked Singer Season 9’s WB Movie Night on April 5. His voice and clues have led viewers to a wide variety of predictions, including Neil Patrick Harris, Kevin Bacon, Bob Odenkirk, Taran Killam, Jim Carrey, and more. However, one popular guess makes the most sense to us. Here’s all the evidence that Lou Diamond Phillips is behind Mantis on The Masked Singer.
Mantis performs on ‘The Masked Singer’ Season 9’s WB Movie Night. | Michael Becker/Fox Mantis changed his voice between two performances on ‘The Masked Singer’
One of the ways Mantis has stumped fans is his voice change between songs. He first performed Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock & Roll,” showing off a raspy voice with musical talent that might not have been professionally trained.

Toys have been a part of marketing for shows and films for a long time. The Masters of the Universe line of action figures came before the animated series, as we learned in the Netflix docuseries "The Toys That Made Us." The first "Star Wars" film toys were part of a mail-away campaign in 1978 before they were ready to be shipped. Toy marketing has also caused controversy in the past. Just think of the #WheresRey campaign when her figure was left out of a "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Monopoly set.
According to an interview /Film's own Rafael Motomayor did with animation writer Henry Gilroy, toys were a big reason for the cancelation of his animated series "G.I. Joe: Renegades." The show ran on The Hub from 2010 through 2011 for a single 26-episode season before being scrapped.

How The Canceled Second Season Of G.I. Joe: Renegades Gave The G.I. Joe Movie Its Cliffhanger Ending
"G.I. Joe" hasn't endured the way its 1980s boys' toy franchise contemporaries "Transformers" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" have. Whenever one "Transformers" or "Tmnt" cartoon ends, a new one pops on the air in no time at all, whereas the most recent "Joe" cartoon, "Renegades," ended in 2011.
Of these three series, "G.I. Joe" is the one most tied to its era of origin. The 1980s were a more conservative and patriotic time in the United States. As new episodes of "A Real American Hero" aired every Saturday morning, the Cold War was reaching its anti-climax. "Transformers" and "Tmnt" have both proven capable of reinventing themselves "G.I. Joe" has its eccentricities (such as the rival ninjas Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow), but it's ultimately boxed into its military theme. "G.I. Joe" is basically "Team America: World Police" minus the comedy, and that's not as fashionable anymore.

To mark the release of Renegades on 13th February, we’ve been given 2 copies to give away on DVD.
Lee Majors plays Carver, a courageous former green beret and true gentleman, who stands by soldiers old and new and helps them in their hour of need. When struggling veteran Nick Moran (Lock Stock) comes to him for support, he does his best to help. Introducing him to his loyal old special forces comrades Peck (Ian Ogilvy), Woody (Billy Murray) and Harris (Paul Barber), they welcome the new-recruit with open arms, living by their ethos of ‘You don’t leave a man behind even when the war is over and done with…’.
When Carver is shockingly murdered, the ex-army Renegades band together to protect his daughter Judy (Patsy Kensit) and exact revenge on those responsible… a vicious international drug gang, led by the fearsome Goram (Louis Mandylor). They’re ready...

Renegades is one of those movies that on paper has all the makings of a solid direct to DVD hit. A sizeable cast of mid-tier names that you will not only know but also have a sort of nostalgic endearment toward and that’s a great thing for you guys because they do a huge service in elevating the material and hiding any problems. A story that while not exactly breaking any new ground is just this side of madcap shenanigans so that there’s a slight air of believability to its proceedings. We are talking London gangsters, low budgets and a cast and crew that doesn’t just believe in the project but are doing...

Dr. Devlin is on the verge of a breakthrough. I’m not entirely sure what his techno-babble means, even his intern Anna suggests he repeat it in English. Whatever it is it has something to do with controlling a tornado. Of course, it does just the opposite and soon the twister is not only growing at an alarming rate, it’s on fire as well.
Not everyone sees this as a bad thing, however. A gang of thieves sees it as the perfect distraction to let them rob the house of Pierce Moore. He’s a mob accountant who not only gets deliveries of literal boxes of cash, he’s the proud owner of the worst Southern accent in history. Of course, Devlin, Anna, and Devlin’s assistant Helena...

Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update continued their coverage of the Matt Gaetz sex scandal this week as well as featured an interview with podcasters “Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama.”
“Our Florida congressman Matt Gaetz is back in the news, but this time it’s good… just kidding, it’s still the sex stuff,” co-anchor Colin Jost said at the opening.
“Matt Gaetz — who looks like all the dudes from American Pie combined — reportedly sent $900 on Venmo to an alleged sex trafficker who then forwarded that same exact amount to...

Tonight on SNL, Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che weighed in on new allegations made against their “favorite Florida congressman.”
“Matt Gaetz is back in the news. But this time, it’s good,” said Jost. “I’m kidding, it’s still the sex stuff.”
Reportedly, Jost noted, Gaetz—”who looks like all the dudes from American Pie combined”—sent $900 via Venmo to an alleged sex trafficker. Subsequently, the trafficker is said to have forwarded the same amount to young women in payments labeled ‘Tuition’ and ‘School.’
“If true,” Jost joked, “[this] would make him the only congressman actually helping with student loans.”
While Gaetz remains under investigation by the FBI for sex trafficking, Jost was happy to see, at the very least, that the congressman is taking the allegations seriously. “That’s why yesterday, he spoke at the Women For America First summit, which is a nice change,” he said,...

Bruce Springsteen discusses the origins of “Born in the U.S.A.” and how it was misconstrued as an overtly patriotic song in a clip from the final episode of his podcast with Barack Obama, Renegades: Born in the USA.
In the clip, Springsteen says he started working on “Born in the U.S.A.” after meeting and befriending two Vietnam veterans, including Ron Kovic, author of Born on the Fourth of July. In a surreal twist of fate, Springsteen says he met Kovic at a motel in Los Angeles a few weeks after...
