In the film there is a section discussing objective truths. One that they overlooked was that in the dawn of modern mountaineering Earle Riddiford planned AND summited peaks that are today, with all the modern gear and technology, still taking fit, experienced climbers' lives. I never met Riddiford, but I did once meet Hillary. I was 16 years old and the pontoon boat driver on a lake in Lake Barrington Shores, IL. Hillary was aloof, seemed disinterested in the group and there was a certain negativity about him. Insecure because of his freakish looks, I could see him wrongly cutting somebody else down just to
make himself feel better.
