Succession star Alan Ruck reveals in an exclusive with uInterview his thoughts on the show’s finale.
While he did enjoy acting on the show he noted that, “[creator] Jesse [Armstrong]’s right to end it now. I think we’ll go out on a real high. I think it’s the best season we’ve done, really, and then we’ve done some pretty good stuff, you know. But I think it’s our best season. I think he’s smart to end it now, we’ll go out on a high note. I’ll miss everybody but that’s how it goes.”
Ruck has played Connor Roy since the show started in 2018. His character is the eldest son of Logan Roy and Logan’s first wife, whom he divorced. Throughout the show, he and his siblings, Roman, Kendall and Shiv, fight for control of their father’s company, Waystar Royco.

Brendan Fraser revealed that he “nearly” died while filming one particular scene in The Mummy.
In the first installment of the franchise, there’s a hanging sequence, and the rope around his neck tightened too much during the shot.
“I was standing on my toes like this, with the rope [around my neck], and you only got so far to go,” Fraser said on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “And [director] Stephen [Sommers] ran over, and he said, ‘Hey, it doesn’t really look like you’re, you know, choking — can you sell it?’ And I was like, ‘All right, fine.’ So I thought, ‘One more take, man.'”
When the director went in for the last take, Fraser stood on his toes, and the crew member holding the rope above him pulled it a little higher.
“I was stuck on my toes — I had nowhere to go but down,” The Whale actor told the host.

In a time where the Internet has not been able to agree on anything, one thing has seemingly united everyone: Brendan Fraser. At the end of the 20th Century, Fraser was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, where he was able to match his matinee idol looks with a light-hearted, goofy persona that endeared him to millions most notably in "The Mummy" films. Once the 2000s rolled around, Fraser was on quite a losing streak. You had Harold Ramis' remake of "Bedazzled," the reviled Best Picture winner "Crash," the underrated but underperforming "Looney Tunes: Back in Action," and the grisly one-two punch of "Extraordinary Measures" and "Furry Vengeance" in 2010 basically cementing his time as a Hollywood leading man as over.
With "The Mummy" over 20 years in the rearview, those who grew up with those movies are now the loudest voices online and have been clamoring for a Fraser renaissance,...

Brendan Fraser has been shown an overwhelming amount of support for a comeback since his blockbuster career fizzled with movies like Furry Vengeance and Extraordinary Measures. He’s been getting acclaim for his performance in the DC show Doom Patrol, and now he looks to make a triumphant return to movies in the new Darren Aronofsky film, The Whale. The Whale is a relatively straightforward tale about an online English teacher who lives as a recluse with life-threatening obesity and needs to find closure with his estranged daughter.
Fraser recently spoke with Vanity Fair about his dramatic transformation (in more ways than one). The actor tells of Aronofsky’s choice to cast him,
He said he wanted an actor to reintroduce. And I wanted to be reintroduced. If there’s no risk, then why bother? I want to learn from the people I’m working with at this point in my career.

Adam DeVine‘s co-star in the new comedy “Jexi” is a cell phone, more specifically, a virtual assistant voiced by Rose Byrne.
At the film’s premiere on Thursday in Los Angeles, DeVine told Variety that during filming, for timing, he listened through a crackling earpiece to another actress reading Byrne’s lines.
“It was hard [acting opposite the phone] because it was before [Byrne] recorded,” he said. “It was much harder than it [looks], because half the time those ear pods don’t work as well as you want them to.”
Co-director Jon Lucas told Variety of the scene anatomy, “We had a lot of ideas about how the sound would work. Then our sound guy was like those are all terrible ideas. He was 100% correct, and we were 100% wrong. … Frankly, there were times when [Adam] would just take the earbud out and do the whole scene, his side of the scene, without ever hearing anyone talking.

English-born film editor Anne V. Coates, who won an Academy Award for cutting David Lean’s classic “Lawrence of Arabia,” has died. She was 92.
She earned that 1963 Oscar: In addition to its impressive balance of imposing desert landscapes and vivid human drama (culled from some 31 miles of footage), the nearly four-hour epic contains one of the most famous “match” cuts in movie history, from a shot of Peter O’Toole blowing out a match to a majestic desert sunrise.
Coates went on to receive four more Academy Award nominations, for editing Peter Glenville’s “Becket” (1964), David Lynch’s “The Elephant Man” (1980), Wolfgang Petersen’s “In the Line of Fire” (1993) and Steven Soderbergh’s “Out of Sight” (1988).
Her other credits include “Young Cassidy” (1965), “The Bofors Gun” (1968), “The Public Eye” (1972), “Murder on the Orient Express” (1974), “What About Bob?” (1991), “Chaplin” (1992), “Congo” (1995), “Striptease” (1996) and Soderbergh’s “Erin Brockovich” (2000).

Brendan Fraser seemed on the verge of being a major movie star in the late 1990s. But it never came to be. We look at why…
I remember going in to watch 1994’s Airheads at the cinema, at the time tempted to do so more by the name of Michael Lehmann on the end credits than Adam Sandler and Brendan Fraser above the title. Steve Buscemi’s presence helped too, of course. But Lehmann had, after all, come to the project off the back of the unfairly maligned Hudson Hawk, and also, this is the man who gave the world Heathers. Can’t grumble with that.
I’d not seen Brendan Fraser on the big screen before, although even by this stage, he’d earned some currency. Encino Man – California Man in the UK – had overcome savage reviews to prove a decent hit. School Ties, that I...

MaryAnn’s quick take… Hangover lite, with even more tepid notions of what constitutes debauchery, plus a true dedication to strained contrivance. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): not a fan of grossout comedies
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
You know those really dumb comedies where the only actually funny bits are the outtakes that run over the end credits, where everyone is finally on their game and the humor comes loose and fast and unconstructed, and you think, “Gee, why isn’t the whole movie like that?”? This is not the case with Office Christmas Party. Ocp — not to be confused with the evil robotics corporation in Robocop, which is more fun on a Friday after-work drinks thing than this movie — is, if I recall correctly, the first instance of end-credits clips that are as precisely forced and flat as...

Harrison Ford injured in plane accident (image: Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff in 'Ender's Game') Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark actor Harrison Ford was supposed to be in critical condition – later reports have upgraded that to "fair" or "stable" condition – following an accident with a small airplane on Los Angeles' Westside. Earlier this afternoon (March 5, 2015), a vintage, one-engine two-seater crash landed at the Penmar Golf Course, located in the Los Angeles suburb of Venice, not far from the Pacific Ocean and just west of Santa Monica Airport. Its pilot, 72-year-old Harrison Ford, was found "seriously" injured. He was alone on the plane. There were no injuries on the ground. As explained in the Los Angeles Times, "fire officials would not identify the victim of the crash but said he was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived." Ford was later transported to an unidentified hospital. Eleven...

A magnificent science fiction drama, and a beautiful one. Wonderfully radical for the simple fact that it is ruled by principled ideas. I’m “biast” (pro): loved the first film

We need a bigger word than humanist.
That was a word I used to describe the lovely, honest, sensitive Rise of the Planet of the Apes — and god, did it feel good to be able to connect those words with a big-budget science fiction movie. But now it feels too small to encompass where Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes the ongoing story. People-ist is the first coinage that leaps to mind, clunky as it is. Because there are nonhumans here who are as fully people as the humans are… in fact, the story is very much about the humans coming to...

Pierce Brosnan is actually Irish, but given his time spent playing the most famous English hero of the 20th century we can understand why he's a fit for his latest project. Deadline is reporting that Brosnan, Jessica Alba, and Kristin Scott Thomas are all set to star in How To Make Love Like An Englishman, the new film from director Tom Vaughan (Extraordinary Measures). Described as a "sexually charged romantic comedy," the film will see the former James Bond star as a freewheeling Cambridge University professor who starts to think that he should change his ways when meeting the perfect woman (Thomas). The situation is made complicated, however, when he learns that he has impregnated her step-sister (Alba). Newcomer Matthew Newman penned the original screenplay, and the source says production is scheduled to start up in September. Brosnan's latest film, Susanne Bier's Love Is All You Need, actually just...

Baseball Biopic Surpassing Expectations: Will Easily Top Domestic B.O. Chart This Weekend Written and directed by Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential screenwriter), and starring Chadwick Boseman as pioneering black baseball player Jackie Robinson and veteran Harrison Ford as the Brooklyn Dodgers' team executive Branch Rickey, the biopic 42 was the no. 1 movie at Friday's domestic box office; it'll surely be the weekend's top film, too. As per early, rough estimates found on the web site Deadline.com, the period drama will be the only movie grossing more than $20 million at the domestic box office. (See below more information about Scary Movie 5 and last weekend's holdovers.) (Pictured above are an unrecognizable Ford as the Brooklyn Dodgers' team executive Branch Rickey and Boseman wearing Robinson's baseball uniform.) The 42 movie brought in an estiamted $8.5 million at 3,003 U.S. and Canada venues on Friday (April 12) and by Sunday evening may possibly...

Thoughts by Tsr: Well, I guess this settles it. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is my new favorite movie. Sure, I’m getting a little ahead of myself, but just look at this cast! Last month we learned about the involvement of Zero Dark Thirty’s Jason Clarke. Clarke, Andy Serkis returning as Caesar, and Matt Reeves directing would have been enough for me. Then Gary Oldman joined the cast as leader of the human resistance, thus boosting my excitement even higher. Now we have Keri Russell’s casting to cement this as an...

Yet again, the box office is headed for a slow weekend, marking what has become a rather distressing trend for the film industry in 2013. Granted, it’s Oscar weekend this time around — so at least Hollywood has a good excuse.
Here’s how the weekend box office may shake out:
1. Identity Thief – $14 million
The Melissa McCarthy/Jason Bateman comedy is already the highest grossing film of 2013, and it may climb from No. 2 to No. 1 in its third frame. With no new comedies entering the marketplace, Identity Thief should fall by about 40 percent to $14 million — good for an $95 million total.

CBS Films has only been around for a few years, but with titles like Extraordinary Measures, The Mechanic, Faster, and Beastly on their roster so far, they haven't gotten off to the greatest start. But the company did a solid job with Martin McDonagh's Seven Psychopaths last year, and they also turned some heads when they picked up Toy's House recently, which was one of the best films that emerged from Sundance last month. Now it appears that they're really trying to turn things around, as a press release reveals that CBS Films has picked up the Coen Brothers' new 60s folk music indie Inside Llewyn Davis We've already seen a trailer for the New York City period piece, and though there was some speculation that the film might hit as early as 2012, we're now guessing that a May premiere at the Cannes Film Festival is the likeliest bet.

CBS Films has nabbed the U.S. release rights to "Inside Llewyn Davis," the latest film from Oscar-winning filmmakers the Coen Brothers.
"Llewyn Davis" explores the folk-music scene of New York City's Greenwich Village in the 1960s and stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham and Justin Timberlake.
T Bone Burnett ("Nashville," "O Brother, Where Art Thou?") is producing the soundtrack which includes contributions from Isaac, Timberlake and Mulligan's Grammy-winning husband Marcus Mumford of the group Mumford & Sons.
The Coen Brothers' last film was the multi-Oscar nominated box office hit "True Grit." There has been speculation that "Inside Llewyn Davis" will officially premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival in May.
Landing a Coen Brothers movie is a major coup for the relatively new CBS Films -- the theatrical arm of CBS Corporation -- which got off to a rocky start with box office disappointments including "Extraordinary Measures,...

"Extraordinary Measures," "The Back-Up Plan," "Faster," "Beastly," "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen"... to date, CBS Films' slate hasn't exactly been bursting with quality fare from established auteurs, nor has it had any massive box office success stories. Even more, outside of the surprise Golden Globes presence for 'Yemen,' they haven't been awards season players either, which makes this announcement all the more puzzling. CBS Films has landed the U.S. rights to the Coen Brothers' highly anticipated "Inside Llewyn Davis." We have to say, this news is kind of surprising, considering we figured a major studio like Paramount might've snapped it up, especially since the directing duo's last effort, the western "True Grit," was the biggest box office success of their career. Or maybe a specialized indie shingle like The Weinstein Company or Fox Searchlight would have made a play?...

New York — It all started with a slap for Matthew Rhys. Trying out for "The Americans," he took one in the puss from Keri Russell.
This new FX drama, whose third episode airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. Est, focuses on two Kgb spies posing as an ordinary American couple shortly after Ronald Reagan became president.
As Philip and Elizabeth Jennings, they have a comfortable home in a Washington suburb, two sweet kids, a travel agency they run and, by all signs, a solid piece of the American Dream. No one would suspect that they are Russian-born plants bent on burying the United States with subterfuge and brutality.
No one, that is, unless it's their new neighbor, FBI agent Stan Beeman (played by Noah Emmerich with an infectious mix of cunning and dorkiness), who has recently moved in with his family across the street. He represents just one among the many threats of exposure,...

Harrison Ford hasn't had a great deal of luck choosing projects since the turn of the century. While it will be pretty damn hard to entirely ruin the legacy of Han Solo and Indiana Jones, making movies like Firewall, Crossing Over, Extraordinary Measures, and Hollywood Homicide has certainly put a bit of tarnish on it. But in 2013 he will have four chances to turn his bad streak around. He has the Robert Luketic thriller Paranoia, Rob Reiner's You Belong To Me, and the highly anticipated sci-fi adaptation Ender's Game - but before all of that he will be a part of the Jackie Robinson story in 42. As part of their 2013 preview, Warner Bros. has released three new stills from the true-life baseball biopic, two of which feature Ford as Branch Rickey, the general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers who first signed Robinson. With the Lord of the Rings prequel heading for cinema screens, Peter Jackson, the director, and his cast have been forced on the defensive by rows over animal welfare
British actor Martin Freeman is close to becoming an official mascot for New Zealand, thanks to his role in the new Hobbit film and this weekend's unveiling of a giant image of his face on the side of a Boeing jet at Auckland airport. And suddenly it looks as if the Tolkien entertainment industry might be in need of such a congenial ambassador.
Just three days before the film premieres in New Zealand's capital, Wellington, the long-awaited Peter Jackson adaptation of Jrr Tolkien's first foray into Middle-earth is under attack from several quarters. Its Hollywood producers stand variously accused of cruelty to animals, suppression of the press and exploitative merchandising.

Peter Jackson, the director of upcoming fantasy film trilogy The Hobbit, has denied claims that 27 animals used in the production may have died due to poor treatment.

'Hobbit' Producers Respond to Animal Abuse Accusations by Not Responding to Animal Abuse Accusations
I considered updating this morning's previous article regarding accusations made by animal wranglers working on Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy with the denial issued by Peter Jackson. Had I done that, though, those that read the previous post might not return for the update so I felt a whole new post was in order. First for the short of it, a group of animal wranglers place the production company at fault for the deaths of up to 27 animals, alleging the New Zealand ranch near Wellington where the animals were kept included bluffs, sinkholes and a variety of "death traps" that resulted in injuries to the animals and/or their death. While a spokesman for Jackson was quoted in the original report, Jackson and his fellow Hobbit filmmakers issued the following statement (via THR): The producers of The Hobbit take the welfare of all animals very seriously and have...

Unless by some bizarre turn of events in which Harrison Ford is summoned for the non-George Lucas Star Wars trilogy to play an older, slower Han Solo, it seems that the man will just have to find work elsewhere. And recent reports say he’s doing just that, having signed on to star in Ender’s Game, 42, Paranoia, and now alongside tween idol Zac Efron in Rob Reiner‘s upcoming Belong To.
Despite the fact that Harrison Ford was once the biggest actor of all-time and his movies would regularly bring in massive audience hauls, his career hasn’t exactly flourished over the course of this century.
It’s a shame, given his obvious appeal as three of the most iconic characters ever put to screen (Indiana Jones, Han Solo and Rick Deckard, of course). Many of his latest films have been genuine duds, most of which have just…...

Chances are, you weren’t at the movies this weekend. Not a single film at the box office reached $10 million. Call it the curse of The Oogieloves.
The Top 12 films grossed a depressingly low $51.9 million — the worst Top 12 total since Sept. 5-7, 2008, when Nicolas Cage flop Bangkok Dangerous led the chart with $7.7 million and the Top 12 films earned $50.3 million.
Even more distressingly, this weekend marked the lowest cumulative ticket sales in over a decade. The last frame to notch worse overall ticket sales was Sept. 21-23, 2001 — two weekends after the 9/11 attacks — when only one new wide release entered theaters: Mariah Carey’s infamous bomb Glitter.

With the recent news surrounding Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed movie, the DreamWorks Need for Speed movie, and a Shadow of the Colossus feature film (among others), it's clear that Hollywood is in the midst of a whole new wave of movies based on video games. It remains to be seen whether or not any of them can overcome the terrible memories associated with previous video game adaptations, but clearly some of these properties are simply too tempting to pass up. This week we have one more video game adaptation to add to the pile, and while I'd love to see it work, it's not hard to see how it could just as easily turn out to be a disaster. CBS Films has just acquired the rights to Deus Ex, the popular cyberpunk action RPG series published by Square Enix. According to Variety, Roy Lee (The Departed) and Adrian Askarieh (Kane & Lynch,...
