Good story but bad execution

I really really wanted to like this film. I managed to stick with it and watch the whole thing but it wasn't half hard work. The story is a nice idea and it's done in a completely different way to any other film I've seen.

But the acting from the main character Ben, good lord it was torturous at times. He should be very likeable but he just doesn't seem to have any authenticity. He wanders round the whole film as if he's in a dream and even in the important moments doesn't seem to convey any great emotion.

I've no idea what the last half an hour is for, it was so unnecessary and could've been dispensed with with a much better explanation at the 90 minute mark.

Got to say I did like Ella though, thought she was portrayed very well.

I don't find ordinary very entertaining. I suggest skipping the first 25 minutes. That's just ordinary background. Not entertaining. And not necessary for the story.

The story doesn't start till Mr. Ordinary gets abducted. But it's still slow, the 1 hr. Mark is where all the answers are spelled out. Then it slows down again.

The actual trial lacks any drama, ends at 1hr. 17 minutes. I got bored and stopped there.

This story could have been told in a half hour or 45 minutes. It drags on too long, just like this review. It drags on too long, just like this review.

This movie sucks

I only made it about half an hr in. The acting is pretty bad. Ben and Olivia both sound congested every time they talk. Dropping and picking your kid at a school with an empty parking lot and nobody else around? Camping with 2 adults and 3 kids and all you have is a small tent and a few chairs? I get low budget but come on. Zero effort was put into making this movie real. When he finally gets abducted it's ridiculously bad writing. The dialouge is confusing at best. I just couldn't go on anymore. I wanted to like this and watch it but there's just to much wrong already at this point. I doubt it gets better.

I'll be honest, this movie exceeded my expectations. I never know what to expect when I watch a movie I've never heard of or know the actors. It's always a complete unknown. But I just got drawn into this whole concept the movie explored. Like, honestly, 10 stars for the idea, and 10 stars for the effort. Digging around online for some backstory on this film this was pretty much made for nothing, and it holds its own against films I've seen Hollywood produce for 100 million dollars.

And the music, my word, just beautiful. Had to look it up afterward and saw it had a soundtrack on all the music platforms. Immediately downloaded it. I've listened to the main theme several times now.

So why am I giving it 7 stars and not 10? Because this is a real review. It's not Interstellar. A film like Interstellar in my mind is a 10/10 movie. But it had the budget to become that. This film was lacking a 100-million-dollar budget to showcase the other worlds. And that's really not a knock on the film, the crew, the actors, they just didn't have it, they didn't have any budget, and yet they still found ways around it to make it a powerful story. They also didn't try to duct tape fake buttons on fake spaceship, etc, they somehow just seamlessly got around it all to where it was believable. And I loved that about this movie. They didn't try to do what they couldn't do. They did what they "could do" and they did a really good job.

At minimum go google the soundtrack. Just beautiful.

Dreary, dull, boring

Has to be one of the most awful films I've ever seen, and what makes it even more dreary is the terrible soundtrack! Really poor synthesized music that just drones on and on and on.....The film could have been an hour shorter and would still have been dull! It's the music which really got to me though. I'm a professional musician and just can't understand how this soundtrack was recognized as being remotely passable. Don't waste your time on this one. Watch reruns of The Lone Ranger or Champion the Wonder Horse - far more exciting! I only stayed to the end because I had a late night and was half asleep!!

This is a story about a Father trying to save his family...

At the end of the day this is a very human and down to earth story about a father dealing with some very common human themes. It just happens to deal with them on another planet where it contrasts with a civilization where emotions have been lost. I thought it was better than most films at this budget and the main actor was actually really good.

While the pacing could have been faster and the scale larger, this film is simply a deep dive into a man struggling with depression and loss. If you know that going in and can relate, the film works. It's not about action or scale whatsoever. Don't expect blockbuster effects. It's about a very flawed yet relatable man dealing with the pain of loss.

Weak slow and a complete waste of time

It's slow for approximately one hour there are scenes of people walking about in white gowns saying nothing. Black screen transitions taking up time. Second rate actors and second rate plot on a cheap budget. Terrible movie. No explanation of many of the scenes. Awful continuity. I am lost for words as to why Amazon reviews ( 1 person) gave it 5 stars. Other than LaLa Land this is without a doubt the single worse movie that I have ever and I mean ever had the pure misfortune to have watched in my entire life. I implore you to step away... do not press that play button lol. You have been warned.

Wonderful heartfelt SF abduction of another kind.

I loved this movie, it has so much heart and soul, and the acting is quite good. I give it a 9 to help offset the mediocre scores it has received as it deserves a much better than a 5.5 rating. No flashy effects but this is made up for by the storyline and engaging characters. Without giving anything away, prepare to be swept up in a otherworldly relationship, a father and daughter growing closer out of a painful past. It is all woven together perfectly and left me feeling more hopeful about finding that ethereal love that is always 'out there' for those who seeking it. Give it a watch, you will not be disappointed.

Simply Amazing

Without spoilers, this is a simply down to Earth movie about a real life, real problems, and real people in a bit unreal circumstances. You could call this an Ode to Earth and life on it. It is easy to watch, heartwarming, thought provoking, and does not contain the usual Holywood nonsense. I hope you will, like myself, fall in love with the story, characters, the plain show of life, and beautiful music. I can imagine this movie will become as strong underdog as it gets. I wish more movies like this gets made as this is a very rare breed. I really hope the people which do not get this movie will one day be able to see its magic.

A very heart felt and thought provoking movie!

A very heart felt and thought provoking movie that i'm sure many can relate to. Really enjoyed this movie, great acting and a beautiful score.

This was recommended as i mostly watch science fiction movies. Strictly speaking it certainly is sci-fi, but not your typical blockbuster special effects movie. This movie concentrates more on the story of a man dealing with loss and heartache. Many men certainly will be able to relate to this story and certainly brought tears to my eyes a number of times.

Dont always trust ratings, despite this having a rather modest score, it is certainly worth a lot more and deserves more recognition that it is getting.

Would recommend.

Surprisingly good.

This is the story of an ordinary Joe who is abducted by Aliens. Sound familiar? Actually, Mr. Earth is not what you would expect. It is more about what it means to be human than about little green men. Think of it as a low budget Contact or KPAX.

Mr. Earth is surprisingly well written, with good production values. Not a big budget movie but one that keeps you watching and wanting to know what happens to our hero. Why was he taken? Will he get home?

Overall this is an intelligent film with a big heart. I suspect that writer Director Scott Lambson will be one to watch for the future. Worth a watch.

Inspiring movie

Low budget film. However, the movie has big treasure moments like for example the father daughter connection which was exemplary and the questions made about life purpose. Also, the importance of emotions resonated and healing past wounds resonated with me.

I think this movie is thought provoking and in the end good to watch it by paying attention to its positive underlying message instead of mundane small details that you won't get from a low budget film.

I enjoyed watching the film. At the beginning goes slow and not the best acting but it gets better! Also, it will let you thinking about your purpose and what is real important in life regardless standard of living; nowadays the more you earn and have the more you are distracted from real meaningful values.

A Beautiful Evaluation of the Importance of Human Feelings

It is not necessary to have everything spelled out for you with this movie. The ideas are presented in the least definitive way because the point is for the viewer to think about the feelings being examined and not the details of when, where, and what. The dialogue was not important between most of the characters, The viewer was prompted to simply feel the feelings involved with each character's situation in this plot. The passage of time was left very vague on purpose. The feelings were the main consideration here. The real meaning of the movie doesn't get presented until the end, so anyone who doesn't get there, doesn't know what this is about. As more AI becomes present in our future we will be called on to decide how important human feelings really are. Without human feeling what is the meaning of anything? Beautiful scenes, engaging music, and fantasy adventure.....enjoy the feelings.

This surprised me by how much I liked it...

My family is notorious for putting on random movies and usually they are terrible, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Yes it is a low budget film, but taking it for what it was, I thought it was well done. The premise was intriguing and it ended up being very heartfelt and thought provoking. I was highly impressed by the score which was levels above the average low budget film. I also thought the main actor who played Ben was wonderful. They did a good job subtly providing a sci-fi movie without a lot of special effects and it was (mostly) believable. Am I adding it to my weekly movie rotation? Maybe not. But it was worth the watch and I came away really having enjoying myself. Give it a try and it may just surprise you too!

Futuristic

This is what I imagine a courtroom should look like in 2023. Bravo. The soundtrack in this film feels like massage to the mind. The star of this film is very handsome and sweet. The little girl that plays his daughter is a very realistic gen z and she speaks nothing but truth. The ghastly inhabitants of the other planet feel very strange. I like how plastic they are. This movie completely embodies the earth in all its majesty. The scenes are panoramic and breathtaking. The cars and tech used in the film is really nice I especially liked the part with the washing machine. What I don't like however is the lack of cohesion in the story I didn't really get how one scene led to the other sometimes.
