Kate Winslet was "amazed" when her celebrity pals including George Clooney, Ben Stiller and Meryl Streep agreed to pose for photos in a battered old hat in aid of her autism charity.
The Titanic actress set up her Golden Hat Foundation after narrating 2009 documentary A Mother's Courage: Talking Back to Autism, and last year she came up with a unique way of raising its profile.
Winslet invited her A-list pals including Jude Law, Christina Aguilera and Demi Moore to don her beloved trilby for a photobook - and she was stunned at the positive response from her Hollywood friends.
She tells Marie Claire magazine, "So I came up with this idea... to send my favourite beaten-up trilby to as many well-known people as I could track down and ask them to photograph themselves wearing it. I would then make a book of self-portraits... Amazingly, nearly every person I asked said yes."...

Every year when I come back from the Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, it is like coming off a drug. You mean, I can't wake up and choose from a hundred thrilling films on any topic that catches my fancy? From a peek at the radical politics behind Peter Gabriel's lyrics (I used to just hum along in the car) to finding out exactly how one recognizes the reincarnation of a Tibetan Master (does the two year old recognize his former incarnation's beaded necklace?), documentaries respond to an intense craving to get the scoop behind the sound bites. Curious about what autism really is? Fridik Thor Fridriksson's impressive A Mother's Courage: Talking Back to Autism follows an anguished mother in her global search to meet top researchers in the field, so not only do we...

- With so much to see and do at Tiff, the five doc titles added to Tiff's Real to Reel section only reminds me that I'll probably leave the festival with that feeling of having "missed out." Word to publicists: keep your screeners handy. Among the five named below, Guo Xiaolu will come to Toronto with a current look on the fascinating country in transition (Once Upon a Time Proletarian: 12 Tales of a Country) and with the buzz of having just won the Golden Leopard Grand Prize at the Locarno International Film Festival for She, A Chinese. Here are the added five.
