Talz of the Unexpected

This is a great adventure as the Jedi and clones arrive on an ice planet with a Pantoran leader and his senator discovering both Republic and Separatist forces have been attacked and destroyed there by creatures they did not know existed there. The Pantoran's want to claim the planet but these natives called Talz stand in their way. The Jedi get caught in between.

The Talz are familiar creatures for original Star Wars movies as one was seen in the Mos Eisley Cantina in A New Hope. I love how they are portrayed here and all the snowy planet and creatures are really well done.

The beginning is suspenseful as we discover the remnants of military forces and the action and gentle themes of imperialism are terrific.

Anakin and Obi Wan are excellent and this is a really fun and high quality episode.

My rating: 9/10.

w/r/t the ice planet complaint

Warning: Spoilers
Chill. just tell yourself this planet has strong abiotic oxygen production characteristics or that it's in an ice age with a highly oxygenated ocean beneath the ice acting as an oxygen reservoir for the planet. aeroplankton floating in narrow warm bands in the middle atmosphere? if we're already operating in a universe where The Force and Lightsabers exist, then I am begging you to please take the easy out when facing questions like "what are the realistic atmospheric compositions of an ice planet". whatever you told yourself to sleep at night after seeing Hoth, that is your new mantra

Trespass

From the opening scene of this episode, I got the sense that it would have a darker tone. As the episode progressed, my belief was confirmed and this episode does stand as one of the season's best. Not only did I love the darker tone of the episode, but the thematic elements of the episode were great as well. The classic squabble over land gets its own place in the "Star Wars" universe, and we get to see an episode that utilizes "Star Wars" politics at its best. The action sequences were good, but there weren't as many as I would have expected. However, I am glad that the episode had a more pacifistic approach to the skirmish and I'm especially glad that it ended the way it did. A great political episode of the show, that continues to intrigue me in terms of its potential.

Another ice planet

Star Wars often takes liberties with science in the name of entertainment, but I have a particular bugaboo with ice planets. The very first line of this episode tells us that the bleak, icy landscape shown is the "tropical zone."

So where is the oxygen coming from? If the characters are able to breathe without helmets or environmental suits, the atmosphere must contain oxygen. If the entire planet is frozen, there is no vegetation, and therefore no source of oxygen. It doesn't make any sense, and I'm having trouble accepting it over and over.
