I can't believe for a second that Mary would let the dirty dishes pile up for 4 days because she didn't want to wash them. Alex I can believe, and his hiding all the dirty dishes in all the cabinets and even the stove was pretty funny.
Mary has been shown to be pretty anal about things so she would have done those dishes like a good little girl. I think this would've worked better had the men stayed home and Mary and Donna went away.
It would've worked much better and more realistic with Jeff not wanting to do the dishes and letting them pile up and his burning all the cooking. And surely in that era, Mary was most likely taking Hom Ec classes in school to train her to be the proper mid century wife, so she most likely would've been a whiz in the kitchen.
