Life and Times of Chandler

E! Mysteries & Scandals: Raymond Chandler (2000)

Tom Hiney (biographer), Elizabeth Ward (author), Jim Heimann (author), Alain Silver (author), Al Clark (author), A.C. Lyles (producer) and Carolyn See (novelist) discuss the life and career of mystery writer Raymond Chandler.

Any fan of film noir is going to recognize that name as Chandler was behind some of the best novels and films from that genre. This episode takes a look at this rise to fame and the alcohol that caused it to fall apart. Well, fall apart might not be the right word since Chandler did live a pretty good life up until his death so there's nothing really too shocking here. Fans of the series probably won't find anything here too mysterious or scandalous so I'm not sure how much they will enjoy it but fans of the author should enjoy hearing the interviews about his life and career.
