A dreary swan song for a great show
dtucker865 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I always hate it when great tv shows go in with the proverbial bang and because the writers of the show run out of original ideas go out with a whimper (Riverdale was an exception to this). This final episode of Room 222 is not outstanding in any way other then it features Donny Most in an early role (he later became one of the stars of "Happy Days"). The episode is about an arrogant student athlete who treats everyone around him like dirt and cares about no one but himself. He sees other people as just the dirt on his shoes until he has a terrible accident that leaves him swimming in self pity and good old Mister Dixon has to snap him out of it. Ho hum.

The Final Show

Elmo is a star baseball player at Whitman High and gets a chance for the major leagues.

A pretty good show ends the series. Michael Warren plays Elmo, he would later be on "Hill Street Blues". Elmo offers Jason a job as a personal assistant when he makes the big leagues, but Jason does not want it. Interesting thing about this show is Donny Most (later Ralph on "Happy Days") has a small role. He seems to be taking over for Bernie who does not appear here. It was probably a good time to end the series since this fifth season was the weakest even though there was some good shows. The final scene is one between Mr Dixon and Jason, leaving the last image as a freeze frame of a smiling Lloyd Haynes.
