They did it again...
miguelcesar23 August 2021
I undestand why B99 finds the need to talk about police problems, but this is not the way to do it.

Having a police comedy bashing on real police is just sad.

They could use the show to show that there is good guys in both sides, but they dont.

That is the problem about this episode.

Is not bad as the first one, but is not even close to what B99 used to be.

They could have use this episode to show that the Police is also suffering with this situation.

When politics becames the main thing in a show that is not about politics... is always bad.

If you haven't watched any episodes this season, read this review first
jarrodhornbeck25 August 2021
Just a quick preamble: If you're an adult who uses words or phrases like 'woke,' 'liberal,' 'virtual signaling,' 'cancel culture,' or 'agenda' when angrily describing something that has forced you to recognize perspectives other than your own, you should probably grow up, and also recognize your review will be saying way more about the nature of you as a person than it will be about the content you're complaining about.

That being said, if you also claim that films and tv should just 'stick to entertainment,' you're clearly (most likely intentionally) ignoring the important Hollywood as a platform means during these turbulent times. The best art, even a silly sitcom about cops, has always echoed our political and social consciousness. It would be impossible for a show like Brooklyn Nine-Nine to continue operating in it's fantasy world of goofy, well-meaning, ultra moral police officers when we see in real life it's very much not the case. The new outlook on police scrutiny cannot be ignored. I recognize that it's been occasionally heavy-handed, and easily telegraphed, but you HAVE to expect it is going to be, at least for a while while we as a nation addresses the very real issues with policing that exist. Personally, I think it's been handled about as delicately as it can.

I actually thought the show would cancel this last season, but they didn't, and here we are. I'm not going to tell you that it's hit the highs of earlier seasons so far, but do not let anyone tell you that the show is drastically different now. The show is (obviously, necessarily) attempting to include the National conversation in their plot lines, and, while they may not be as irreverently funny as storylines past, it would irresponsible to do otherwise. If you actually enjoy the show, and you're not just someone waiting on the next conservative outrage talking point, you'll probably still enjoy it.

mixed feelings ...
Misha080922 August 2021
Holt was the funniest.

Boyle was so off. It did not even make me feel bad for him. And why is Peralta still having this awful hairstyle and he is not that funny this season.

Amy screams a lot this season which is annoying.

Remembering Andre Braugher
safenoe19 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm finally getting around to watching the last eight episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which I recorded two years ago and only now am I able to watch it, spurred on by the untimely death of Andre Braugher, and seeing his amazing comedic skills on display is a treasure to watch. Interestingly, there seems to be a disconnect between the user review votes and the user review ratings on this episode, but let's put aside out differences and please have some respect for the late Andre Braugher and the gravitas be brought to Brooklyn Nine-Nine especially as it was reaching the end of its final season ever.

Not fantastic but an improvement
aidan-3628822 August 2021
It was much better than the first and is starting to feel back to normal, but it feels like it needs one more push to get there.

fun and satisfying episode
lebunnyboy20 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Some great Holt moments this episode, and obviously the Jake + Boyle pairing had some great laughs. And as stereotypical as the O Sullivan character is, i just find his line delivery so ridiculous that i can't stop myself from laughing at him.

Also, we NEED to know what Holt's tattoo really is before the show ends. PLEASE!

Great episode
adamsmith-9469320 August 2021
This was a great episode, filled with Jake and Charles moments that have been lacking in the first 2 episodes. Can't wait to see how it all ends.

It seems as though people are hating on the show now because its "too political" and its feeling "forced." The reality is that this show has always dealt with difficult issues. Stop hating on the show because you think it's popular, enjoy the show for what it is. A brilliant comedy that tackles real-world issues.

Not as good as The Lake House, but still good.
petranaruscons19 August 2021
It would be an average to mediocre episode, but it had one thing:Jake and Charles together again. A good episode with some laughs.

Another sad moment for the fans
luizfmartinsl23 September 2021
This episode, like the first one, does not tell a funny story with loveable characters. It tries to teach viewers a lesson. The lesson? Cops bad less cops good (the lack of articulation imitates the subtlety of the writers). The show was hijacked by modern-day preachers.

Honestly solid
gug0513 November 2021
This episode was hilarious. The trident scene was genuinely really funny. They addressed police issues in a more satirical way, because obviously this wouldn't happen. Don't know why they wrote in the Boyle testical cancer sideplot but out of it we got a pretty genuine moment. Dislike how they blueballed us at the end there but lets be real, we'll never know.

Morose Boyle
trbothrowaway21 August 2021
The highlight of the season so far! Holt, as usual, stole the show. Boyle had a weird arc, but it was great to see him and Peralta on the sidelines and not hogging the spotlight. Funny as all hell, too.

It's strange for Rosa to be out of the department, but she's around enough for it to feel comfortable.

Blue Flu
kaden_lewis1 September 2021
This was a solid Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode. It had the laughs we love, it had Raymond's classic quirkinesses like when he told Jake Aquaman's Trident should be called a Pentident because it has five prongs instead of three, and we got some of the Boyle we love when he found out he might die. I also though the story of the cops staging a walkout because a cop found a rat in his sandwich, then the 99th precinct trying to prove it was staged was pretty cool as well.

This was a good episode, can't wait for more!

I miss the show it used to be
Dog-River21 August 2021
I was sad to hear that this was going to be the last season, but now I honestly think season 7 should've been the end. This episode wasn't even funny at all. I'm an international viewer and not political. If anything I would say I lean to the left. After such a crappy two years, I just wanted the lighthearted B99 back.

Did they change writers completely? I just don't understand how the writing quality went so down hill since season 7. I didn't laugh once in this episode. Even the Charles storyline didn't live up to S1-S7 writing standards. Also, why is Dirk Blocker (Hitchcock) not on the actual show anymore? You can't have Scully without Hitchcock. A short video call isn't cutting it. This was not how I thought the show was going to go out.

Well better the Episode 8:1 but...
SP1914 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's funnier than episode 1 of season 8 as they actually remembered to make it funny this time but it's still super preachy and dumb. Basically the gang is trying to prove that officer whatever threw a mouse in his own food when he was served ( do they think this stuff doesn't happen?) to get the officers to come off strike before realizing that all is better with fewer officers. Now I'm sure you can see the issues already but I'll spell them out, a bunch of screenwriters are bashing cops in a show about cops, they try to draw attention to an issue while demonizing one side and pretending like all of their concerns are nonsense, and end up with the conclusion less cops is better. This doesn't sound like a script this sounds like a bunch of stupid YouTube comments being overly political and irritating everyone who just wanted to watch a decent show.

The writers are terrible this season
agerson2421 August 2021
I honestly don't understand how this is getting so many good reviews. This isn't a knock on the actors- the acting is still great. I just don't know what the writers are doing. They are taking real life headlines and stories.. That dead animal in food where police pretended they were being attacked was literally a true story. And they keep using talking points like "Antifa" and "Radical Left" and "Not all cops are bad" etc is just so heavy handed it's hard to watch.. I was hoping the premiere was just a one time episode where they got all their white guilt out but apparently they are carrying police corruption and reform through the entire series..?

All this stuff is important issues in our country but this show is a 22 minute comedy. B99 always made me laugh and it's really frustrating bc I was looking forward to this season for a year. Again, the actors are still great but I just don't know what the writers/ producers are doing. I am just forcing myself to watch because I invested so much time in this show that I want to know how it ends.

Also, they are ruining Dr. Cox for me..

Will the rest of the season be that way?
ChProv18 September 2021
They did it again.. Episode 3 isn't as bad as episode 1 but still.. A cop show that bashes against cops.. It is unsubtle, it is not funny and it is, again, misplaced politics.. At this point I'm not sure I'm gonna watch the rest of the season..

Has its funny moments, but...
joelstamm-0733830 August 2021
...ultimately it's the show slamming on cops again. Sad. I hope the writers, producers, director, and actors never need the police after producing this.

Why does everything have to be made political?
kfhvtp24 September 2021
This is a show that I love and now I can't watch it anymore. I don't understand how anyone can enjoy this. When I watch a TV show that all I want to do, watch a TV show! How can anyone enjoy this when all this is, is it's trying to promote a certain view of beliefs? Just stick to making funny episodes that's all we want!

So disappointed.
vvthcwx22 August 2021
This season has ruined two shows (Scrubs and B99) for me.

I can't believe that a show about cops has become so anti police. The show is basically saying that all Police are bad and that there are only the few good ones. Police put their lives on the line everyday to protect the community. They deal with some of the hardest things anyone will ever encounter. But after all that Police have now become the enemy. Yes there is a couple of bad ones but that is the same with every job. Police are just people. B99 is a joke and I'm really disappointed that John C Mginley joined up.

Please go back to whats Funny
ehs-6782421 August 2021
There you go, jumping back into politics. Do you writers know that over 1/2 of the country doesn't believe what you think. Just go back to comedy and not leftest current events. This use to be my favorite show. It also use to be funny.

It has it moments
Harkonnen228 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This political episode was probably the best so far of the first 6 as its side plots still contained some funny moments.

Its shown the officer planted the mouse and staged the incident, however it makes you wonder if causing this was his plan why didn't he in some way make it more clear he was a cop when either placing his order or picking it up?

It seems like the writers decided on this as it seems to be the only reason for Holt to decide its all fake. He than acts accordingly to what he believes while the faceless uniform officers do the same, while the writer basically tell you they are wrong (I'm assuming believing that someone would never do such a thing or even spit in someone's burger.....).

He has the officer tailed and spied on while trying to prove the uniformed officers have lied about being ill instead of actually talking to them and having a proper conversation. The writers I think also avoided actually showing any of the uniformed officers since we saw those ranks to be as diverse as the detectives. This than causes an issue in a later episode (or it should if the show cared about consistence) since it implies intimidation and going outside the law is ok so long as you are proven correct which is a just plain stupid (eg if Rosa didn't just so happen to find proof than the whole squad should have been suspended for there actions.
