This was the First Episode?

Warning: Spoilers
Did not recall the fire bird (which I don't remember this one anyway) being the first episode of Godzilla all those decades ago.

I could have sworn I read someone's comments here somewhere complaining about the crew of the Calico going into the volcano thru a lava tunnel when the volcano was erupting and how silly that was, but now I can't find that, but it doesn't matter.

I recorded this episode off Cartoon Network and it was during an NBA All Star Slam (as the small symbol in the lower right corner tells me) and this was Shaquille O'Neal's fave cartoon as well, again, as a caption that keeps reappearing tells me.

When I realized this was the episode the person was speaking about, I decided to watch it and see what emerges.

Yes, the Calico crew venture into the volcano to see why it is erupting and oh, it gets hotter and hotter. How smart is this? Not really sure.

And they find the so-called fire bird, pterodactyl looking creature, or something like the Herculoids pet. More bird-like.

It squawks a lot, like a parrot.

Godzilla is summoned and the two fight, then they venture to the arctic. Not sure why. Something is said about the fire bird wanting to lay eggs, but then Godzilla seals the bird up in a cave underwater.

I guess if it could breathe in lava, water isn't going to hurt it.

Still one moment worth noting, when Godzilla and the fire bird fight, Godzilla gives it a good swipe with its tail.

Now the fire bird stands and rants a bit (check out some of the bird's standing moves as well. They could all but be set to music), but then once the bird is thru screeching, it kind of flops its wings and arms and head like it is thoroughly give out and exhausted, even hanging its tongue out.

Hey, fire bird, if its that bad, its not worth it, okay?
