A Parade and a Charade
ISmellSnow13 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Elizabeth wants to talk to Nathan about what happened at the adoption ceremony but he has to leave because of a prisoner escaped nearby. Lucas was overlooking and says, "Constable Grant" but Nathan cuts him off with "save it."

Elizabeth visits Lucas's office to tell him about what happened at the ceremony but is interrupted by a phone call. Elizabeth tells him they can talk about it later over dinner.

Bill is easily agitated because he is frustrated about returning his red serge. Molly ends up giving him a pep talk and the town throws a small parade for him.

Angela is ready to learn Braille again and Elizabeth is doing a great job teaching her!

Rachel and Christopher have started a romance. She ends up temporarily leaving Hope Valley for Bellingham. Before she leaves she has a conversation with Christopher about why he isn't getting close to his dad. Possible foreshadowing for Nathan and Elizabeth?

Christopher witnesses Gowen having a dizzy spell in his office. He runs to the infirmary for help. Faith tells Christopher about Henry's health problems and he storms over to Lucas in the street. He blames Lucas for making Gowen work even though he is sick and Lucas walks away, upset.

Later, Elizabeth goes to visit Lucas in his office again. She tries to comfort him and invites him to sit with her on the love seat. They have an almost kiss but Lucas pulls away and says that he is still wanting to be patient with her. He kisses her hand instead. Swoon! As she leaves his office, she fans herself.

Carson and Faith still can't decide on what direction to take and from looking at next weeks previews, we're going to get a resolution soon. I think they will break up.

While at the derricks, Lucas approaches Christopher who is digging a ditch. He asks him if he would like to take a break from digging but Christopher declines and proceeds to be completely rude to Lucas. One thing he said stands out, though. He says "Leave Lucas, not unless you want to get down here in the mud with me. But you already are, right?" Hmmm. Nathan shows up as Lucas leaves and he tells him that he's not giving up on Elizabeth just yet. Lucas replies "you can do whatever you want but you better make good sure that you have Elizabeth's and Allies best interests at heart." Nathan goes to say "Lucas..." and Lucas gets him back with a "save it."

Fort Clay revelation- Elizabeth finally confronts Nathan about what he is hiding from her. He reveals "I was the one that was supposed to lead the training mission, not Jack. I was disciplined for an earlier incident and your husband..Jack replaced me. I'm sorry Elizabeth." Elizabeth looks completely shocked and heartbroken. Good job to both actors on this scene!

Overall this was a good episode, I really enjoyed FloYo moments as well. I'm honestly glad that Rachel is out of the show for now. I'm worried about Lucas now drawing away from Elizabeth but we will see. Nathan's reveal could be a make or break moment for him and Elizabeth.

Inconsistent Writing, Secondary Storylines are Drawn Out
storytelling10111 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Inconsistent writing: figuring it out as they go along. A wonderful performance by Kevin McGarry in this episode; he truly shines in his scene about Fort Clay. Great acting! Secondary storylines, like Jesse and Clara, are definitely drawn out and feeling repetitive; this couple has been talking about their issues for a long time, but viewers are not rewarded by seeing their make-up talk or watching them work through the depths of their issues. It's addressed in the next episode to a degree, but they could have dug deeper. Viewers still never learn why Jesse invested all their money into a scam without telling Clara and what motivated him to make that choice - we never learn.

Elizabeth-Whiny adolescent
kshaffer-438071 November 2023
Elizabeth is the worst part of the show since about season 7. But in this episode she reaches new heights of annoying. She goes around town sticking her nose in everyone else's business. She squeals and giggles like an adolescent girl at anything remotely good or positive.

The scene with her and Lucas in his office-seriously? Nauseating.

The end of the episode where she can't even for a few minutes set aside her little dramas to celebrate Bill -a wonderful friend to Jack and to her-and allow Nathan to do so EVEN AFTER HE ASKED HER TO ...!!! What was that?! She was like a child having a tantrum. So obnoxious.
