Masterful season 2 premiere
UniqueParticle10 January 2022
Loads of intensity already all of which is filmed so well with great music and beautiful lit cinematography! More violent than season 1, more inappropriate or at least as much as before, and exceptional new characters. I love what Sam Levinson has done with Euphoria he's brilliant at his craft! I'm more captivated by this series than most anything that I watch.

"It's a new year, playboy."

A fantastic start with lots of tense scenes, uncertainty, and a nice amount of emotional resonance. Fez's backstory is great, Jules and Rue have a couple of beautifully emotional moments, and that ending!!! The new visual look is incredible and absolutely gorgeous, I love that they're using film for this season. I can't wait to see where we go from here, loved this opening episode!

Oh my...

Warning: Spoilers
Lexi is a supremely underrated character. She's the one I relate to the most and I've always wanted an episode about her backstory. Looks like we may just get it!

Anyway, I was not expecting Fez to get his own intro and backstory. Was very pleased with that and found it to actually be kind of believable. He's a great character, and holy mackerel... That ending was the most unexpectedly satisfying thing. I didn't think we'd get that so soon!

This was a pretty good season premiere. I thought it felt kind of slow at first, but the ending, and all of the build-up, made it worth it. I see now that we've got the entire season and character arcs established in just sixty minutes! By the way... poor Cassie.

Fez

Fez is a cool-interesting character.

Euphoria returns with some amazing cinematography, tense scenarios and lots of male genitals. In my opinion Fez's backstory was the most interesting part of the episode. Season 2 seems to be amping up to an even darker tone, so hopefully it remains unpredictable. If Euphoria keeps its' focus on the characters like it did with Fez this episode Season 2 has a lot of potential. Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door was a good opener.

Great start

Honestly might be my favorite episode of the series (excluding the special episodes). Great camera work per usual and a lot more depth added to fez's character. Way more intrigued to see how his character develops.

What a great way to start the season. I was so blown away. Every character looks like they are going to be set up to have great storylines this season. The show is definitely a lot darker than last season but it looks like it's going to work. So excited for the rest of the show.

One Word: Fez
RSReviews10 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is looking like it's going to be Fez's season and i'm ALL FOR IT. He was always my favorite character in the first season and I was so glad to kick off this brand new season with him as the face of the episode. His backstory was very interesting as well and clearly explains why he can be so cold at times.

The reason I don't rate this episode higher is because I feel like the show still aims too much for shock value, when it adds almost nothing to the plot. The scene where Cassie was trying to get out of the bathroom and gets greeted by a naked guy waist down was honestly just really unnecessary and done for no other reason than to have nudity in the scene.

This show should also definitely be taking place in college, lol. They also live in a nice neighborhood so I don't know why the writer insists on exaggerating things like he does, just feels forced.

Oh, and the scene with Fez and Nate at the end? I think Fez did something every Euphoria fan has dreamed of since the pilot.

That ending..
aboalhyjaa10 January 2022
Wow. Just wow. This episode is unremarkable. Felt like i was watching a whole movie.

The directing and camerawork are outstanding, like a big time! Script, scenes and soundtracks are also amazing and thats what makes euphoria a great show.

Now, about the episode itself. We all know that Rue is an unreliable narrator. From what we saw back in Christmas special, some things didn't happen actually, but in her eyes and drug addict mind it did. So maybe the last scene between her and Jules didn't actually happen? Also, what we learned from Christmas special, is that Jules and Rue's relationship is actually very, very complex. As Rue remind Jules of her alcoholic mom. So she probably dont but in a mommy issue relationship.

Other relationships in this show are complex too. With the low self esteem the teens had we all saw how weird it can get just because they cant confront their feelings and emotions.

That ending? Amazing. I was waiting to see a good backstory about Fezco from a long time and now they gave us that plus a strong ending that support Fezco's character as a drug dealer not only that high dude that sells some weed.

rush of adrenaline
marcoarbia10 January 2022
If I had to use one word to describe how I felt while watching this show I'd say euphoric. You are relentlessly overwhelmed and assaulted, one scene after the other, from a crescendo of emotions paired with a superb, visionary and often oneiric use of the mise-en-scene. The whole episode I felt like I was on a high. Masterful premiere, just give me more.

It's been a long while. A lot of anticipation and waiting puts a ton of pressure on the season 2 premiere but it took it and hit it out of the park. Bang! Bam! POW! What a premier. That's how you do it.

believe me when I say I LOVED season 1
chanin-5461611 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
But this one, I just don't know. It feels different. It's all the same characters, but it felt like a totally different show. The music was a huge part of season 1, building the intensity of the story. It was lacking from this episode which made it feel a little empty. I am hopeful it will get better. I do love Fezco though!

OK I guess...
SockBox_Studios10 January 2022
I was so excited for the release and it was a let down. I really enjoyed the first part with Fez's origin story. It was done well, and loved seeing Lexi again. The second half just seem campy, and they want to show all the characters we loved. Honestly this first episode has very little plot or build up, and lacks the complex crafting season one has. After the special episodes I was wondering if this season was going to be told from Jules's perspective. At this point I couldn't really tell because, the characters made decisions out of context. Hope it gets better in episode two.

Euphoria takes a new approach to their story. A very well made premiere. They take the same characters with new characters and form a slow intense season 2 pilot. Everything was what i expected and more. Sam levinson is amazing.

I am so happy that we got a fez episode!! Fez, rue, and lexi are the best characters, argue with the wall. This was such a fantastic opening and i am excited for what this season has in store. Lastly, jacob elordi's acting is so good, it's terrifying.

Spoilers! Duh

I don't really know what to say. This season premiere had so many groundbreaking events that I don't know what to expect from the subsequent episodes. Feels like everything we were waiting for happened in just a one new years party. I wasn't expecting Nate to taste his own medicine so soon but can't say that I'm not pleased. Also for Rue and Jules to get back together was so heartwarming. Getting to know more about Fez was something I was waiting to see since season one and boy it was perfect. Music was top tier like always and every scene was shot beautifully. Can't wait what happens next week.

This episode had everything! It was intense, emotional and should I say euphoric. A great start to the second season and from the first episode we can already see that it will live up to the standards of the first season!

Best show. The intense and intricate plot lines are s clearly established. And so much unresolved tension in just the episode. Can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

Warmth is nipped in the bud. Lexi and Fez, Cassie and Nate, Jules and Rue...this first episode floods us with expectations. The undertone is angsty, nocturnal, enveloping. One flaw: we can't binge-watch the entire season.

Not the same, not better

Warning: Spoilers
I was a huge fan since I watched euphoria season , Believe me I was literally counting the minutes to see the tv show. What I enjoyed the most, besides the story and music was the makeup work. In this season I didn't like it, it's like the had lost the magic, this makeup work it's nothing to compare with the last work, very boring, normal and had lost the connection with the characters (por example Jules, she was the most beautiful women in the world and in this chapter she looks very awful and older).

About the history si really like the ending when Fez hit on Nate's Face, but never have the connection I use to have with Rue, or Kate.

Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door
lassegalsgaard18 September 2023
So, the first season of "Euphoria" ended up being quite the bust, leaving the season off on a sour note that derailed the goodwill the show had managed to earn in the last few episodes leading up to it. Now it's back with a second season that promises to now slow down and just continue to display the most basic trauma on the screen and play it off as every teenager's big sad life story. But hey, maybe this is the season to get me. If the first episode has anything to say about that, it'll probably just be more of the same old stuff.

It's not fun to go into a show like this and just expect it to be bad. I'm rooting for this show to get me hooked. The specials they released between two seasons were actually very good and made me believe for a few seconds that Sam Levinson had actually learned a thing or two about character development and consistency. Unfortunately, this first foray back in the world of "Euphoria" shows the dark truth. That he's not interested in consistency and would rather focus on portraying this demented view of what every teenager goes through. In the first season, at least he had enough self-control to not make it a universal thing, but in the first episode back, he's dedicated to getting the characters who were not involved in all this involved in some way, and that's the most deplorable thing about this episode. The bad character development and inconsistency was expected, but this was just a new low. With that said, it's still good to see the few likable characters be present, and it's good to see some of the characters that were not heavily featured in season one get an extra little push and actually get some more storylines. The episode also works in setting up where the season is going, and while that may not necessarily be somewhere I'm anxious to go, it's important to note that this is not a show that was made for me. I'm going to begrudgingly go there with them, but I won't be happy about it.

"Trying to Get to Heaven Before They Close the Door" was exactly what I expected: a messy return to a messy show at its best. There's not a lot of hope at the end of this journey, but I'm still rooting for the show to win me over, even if that hope may prove futile.

THE MOST *SATISFYING* PREMIERE ONE CAN ASK FOR
rounaktandon10 January 2022
The excessively long wait for this excessively explicit and violent show is totally worth it. Just like every other hbo show this episode particularly has an INSANE amount of nudity which is not surprising. This episode gets you hyped for the whole new season in the best way possible. Great performances by all the cast members. The visuals as usual are ubelievably good. Nearly flawless episode.
