What a Disappointment
doug2go10 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show, up until this final, was my favorite show on commercial TV - I was certain that Elizabeth would realize that a saloon keeper with a spotty past wasn't for her and that her rejection of the Mountie was because of his uniform and not him . But for some inexplicable reason the show-runner's decided to have her decide to pick the Saloon keeper in this final - this is the first episode I have rated below 8 ever, but it is unlikely that either my wife or I will watch this series next year - Sad My wife turned it off after it was revealed who Elizabeth picked and started watching repeats of something - Sometime doing the unexpected doesn't work - this didn't .

Made no sense
jjjw-1952212 May 2021
The new writers butchered WCTH It really made no sense Carson and faith were a popular couple ,I dont get why the writers butchered that sory line, I saw plenty of beautiful chemistry between Nathan and Elizabeth, there was no beautiful chemistry between Lucas and Elizabeth, only lust I was mislead by the spoilers ,the interviews ,only for ratings The new writers have seemingly turned this show into a soap I'm done with hope( nope) valley The only way I would watch WCTH again ,is not watch it at all,but have a spinoff, where Nathan and Alley leave hope valley for a new life ,where Nathan finds someone completely new, that has never been on WCTH ,and no Elizabeth and Lucas.

Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
While I appreciate that this season was filmed during a pandemic, we were promised a triangle and a roller coaster & neither happened. Elizabeth never really gave Nathan a chance. Later told they didn't want to repeat the teacher/Mountie storyline, if that was the case, then why tease us and make us watch the entire season waiting for her to even go out with him once. Only enjoyable part of this season was Florence & Ned, the rest of it was all choppy and rushed. Haven't decided if I will watch season 9.

Sooooooo Disappointing

A fan from Season 1, the writers threw everything out the window in this finale. Nothing was recognizable from Season 1-7 and 11 episodes of Season 8. This show has survived and thrived on its fandom, unity and social media presence that only has benefited Hallmark. The writers turned the fans into unrecognizable people who were so ugly to each other. Over 70% of the fanbase were literally slapped in the face with a less than one minute explanation from Elizabeth to Nathan. This "break up" of a sorts should have been woven into the storyline throughout the season. The writers and Hallmark are going to have to do a tremendous job to reunite fans and give Nathan a storyline that he deserves. Until trust is earned again, I will fast forward through any scene with Elizabeth and Lucas. I literally felt disgusted watching the last 7 minutes. I would hate to see the show not survive, but Hallmark has some major work to do!!!!!!

Wonderfulll and Romantic

A totally emotional and totally fit ending to the story told in the last three years. Looking forward to the next season.

Remember to watch and draw your own conclusions. When a group comes together because I don't like the choice in a triangle, the assessment is not honest. So, do yourself a favor. Watch it.

They could have called it the two people competing to eat each other's face off...
jenjeneady15 May 2021
The writers did the old bait and switch. They spent the season building a connection between Nathan and Elizabeth, and then in the final episode, they went for shock value by having her chose the one no-one expected. All storylines end in the two who have tension and chemistry ending up together. Why experinent with this finale to change an algorythm for successful love stories since the Jane Austin writing era? Absolutely awful. You stifled the change Elizabeth came to Hope Valley to find in her life. If I could give zero stars I would.

We suffered through Season 8 for this?

Warning: Spoilers
Truly the worst show I've watched ever. The lack of planning and story telling is so evident. All season long we have noticed incomplete storylines, deleted scenes, holes that just leave you confused. I heard someone call it the Hope Valley black hole. Characters disappear and reappear with no explanation why.

What kept the majority of the viewers (at least 70% according to polls) tuned in was the beautiful love story that had been playing out since the start of Season 6. It was epic, we held our collective breath in anticipation of the finale and the kiss that was sure to be between Mountie Nathan and our beautiful schoolteacher, Elizabeth. Sadly, throughout the season the writers (John Tinker) had been taking Elizabeth down a selfish snooty path, but most fans were excited and expectant to see her go to Nathan with an apology for her hurtful behavior. Not in John Tinker's world. She abruptly visited Nathan at work, told him I love you but and not in love with you, like a teenage fickle girl. After spending 3 seasons following him, watching him, pursuing him she snapped her fingers and was done.

Elizabeth went on to meet her "love" on a bridge and make out for the remainder of the show. I couldn't really concentrate, it was repulsive when you aren't expecting it and have never been given a reason to like the Lucas character. The new writer, John Tinker, took this beautiful show and made it garbage this season. He let everyone know that the well thought out writing of the past seasons didn't matter and basically alienated the great majority of viewers. Sad, it could have been written so beautifully. I would not recommend this show unless you are looking for a soap opera.

Warning: Spoilers
The books tell the story of Elizabeth and Jack. And the series was impeccable in building that story. After season 5 everything changed and it was painful! Elizabeth's cop in life is JACK, not Nathan. I liked the ending with Lucas, I thought it preserved the story of Elizabeth and Jack, which was unique, beautiful, magical and irreplaceable! Now is a new start. I found the ending to be consistent with what was told in the last 3 years. The triangle has always been between Elizabeth, Jack and Lucas.

Flipt Script

The ending does NOT match the storytelling throughout season 8. Someone changed the outcome last minute, and now three seasons of details don't line up. The greatest love story that could have been on Hallmark ended with a flop. Don't waste your time.

Warning: Spoilers
GREAT finale episode for season 8!! Don't listen to the naysayers, go ahead and watch it for yourself and see how many storylines were either brought to a satisfying conclusion (the love triangle is OVER) or a satisfying pause as we now wait for season 9 (the election for mayor, who is behind all the land acquisitions, etc). Loved it and will be watching again many, many times! PS: It was a perfectly decent episode/season and nothing inappropriate about it! Haters are going to hate.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm team nathan for sure and obviously with the ending of the triangle I wasn't too pleased! I'm honestly just glad Elizabeth made a decision and I think there is hope for the future when it comes to Lucas as a character. Lucas this season and in this episode especially has started to realize he isn't perfect and I like that development. I think Nathan's new storyline will be epic and that's why I give this episode that review! I'm not over the moon about how things turned out but I think there is hope for the future.

Terrible Season
aneumeyer-5002212 May 2021
What just happened? For three seasons, since Jack's death we have been watching the triangle unfold. Watched and listened to interviews, listened as promises were made by the writers and producers. It all came down to a disappointing season. The writing was off the rails compared to previous seasons. It was as if the writers did not know which story they wanted to tell and it showed in the filming. 2 episodes were added this season, sadly the way things turned out, it could have been left at 10. The characters, particularly the lead ones were so off base this year. The whole season was just out of character for the whole premise of the show. I am sorry to see such a lovely show turn so terrible. I will not watch any more episodes. Good luck in S9. Whatever direction you are off in, you have damaged it beyond repair.

Best episode of the season

Warning: Spoilers
After 3 long seasons, Elizabeth Thorton finally decides between Lucas Bouchard and Nathan Grant.

I was ecstatic with this episode, especially the conclusion. I know some fans were disappointed with her choice but I firmly believe that based on the narrative that has been developing over the past three seasons that Elizabeth has fallen in love with the right man. The clearly adore one another.

I LOVED this episode. I cannot praise it or the actors enough for providing such a beautiful conclusion to the love triangle. Can't wait to see what comes next in S9!!

Warning: Spoilers
This was such a joke of a finale! It was full of very disjointed storylines and the end of the triangle was so unjustified that it left viewers shocked and confused. The whole.premise of the show was changed since Elizabeth did not choose the mountie. I wouldn't say the show is family friendly now, either.

ZERO STARS
faithfehr-0936916 May 2021
I have to say this was THE MOST TERRIBLE season and the finale was absolutely horrible!! This show has been pretty good however this season was pretty boring. And they were leading up to Elizabeth choosing Nathan and then changed it to being with Lucas. I could go on and on but in the early 1900's a school teacher would NEVER choose a saloon owner! Nathan was WAY more suited. The story is supposed to be about the school teacher and her Mountie. NOT a saloon runner. There should have never been a 'team Lucas' or a 'team Nathan'. They really ruined the show and I won't be watching season 9.

Very disappointing
doxiemama-7789911 May 2021
I am very disappointed in this whole season, especially the final episode... The season itself jumped around so badly that it was difficult to follow, and the "triangle" went on way too long... Honestly I don't feel there should ever have been a triangle in the first place... In my opinion I don't feel that the writers ever really gave Nathan a fighting chance to win Elizabeth's heart even tho they strung us along to believe that she truly had feelings for him... I feel the way they wrote this season and portrayed the characters was rather disgraceful... they turned Elizabeth into a rude, self centered spoiled rich girl returning to her rich little roots... Lucas has been sketchy since he came to Hope Valley, and has never really proven himself as trust worthy as far as I can tell... Nathan did the Noble thing by coming to Hope Valley to look out for Elizabeth and little Jack with no ulterior motive in mind, yet he found himself falling in love with Elizabeth, just as Jack had... Myself I don't feel the writers should have ever strayed away from the original story told in the books, especially this far away... The story is about a school teacher and a mountie, not a school teacher and saloon owner.... and even tho the original mountie actor wanted to leave the show I really don't feel they had to kill him off, they simply could have replaced him... they brought in a new Mountie anyway, they could have just replaced the actor instead of the whole character... and even if they felt they needed to replace the character they still could have stood true to the original storyline and created a new love story with the new mountie.... I just think the writers screwed up all the way around, especially this last season and Honestly don't see how they can possibly come back from this... I believe they will loose alot of viewer support... The only reason I'm even giving it a 2 rating is for the other storylines I did enjoy...
