these survivalists don't know what they're doing
happy_quadruped10 April 2022
Rather than "survivalists and their dogs teaming up to survive the wilderness" it seems more like "semi-normal people who happen to have dogs enter the wilderness and don't really know what to do." Unlike say Life Below Zero where the people they're following know a thing or two about survival.

I think it might be possible to package it better than this though - the story skips days on end, like you've only been watching a guy for a few minutes and all of a sudden he's on day 3 of the challenge even though he hasn't managed to find a single bite to eat in the wilderness - yet seems in good spirits rather than starving because he's clearly being fed off camera. The dogs don't really know what to make of the whole thing and who can blame them.

What a joke!

Warning: Spoilers
Everything about this show is as fake as a fairy tale. Just watched two episodes, so many little things wrong, starting with the 'no food but one fish in 10 days', followed by hand cut wood with perfectly straight cuts and dogs who dig for worms? Who believes this crap? Total hoax, total joke.

Really loved this show

Warning: Spoilers
A very good show showing the bond of human and dog and the necessity of that bond during difficult times. Showing the survivors in their emotional states while in extreme weather conditions and frustration on not finding food shows mother natures' brutal conditions. If you actually read the fine print at the credits you'll see that the survivors are only allowed to forage or fish and cannot hunt animals. Anyone who has ever gone fishing knows that freezing weather and water can cause fish to be scarce or may have gone on fishing trips with no luck. Any dog will have their natural instincts kick in, especially when out in nature so of course any dog will dig up worms if you point at a spot and act excited asking "what is that!! Dig boy!!" They can hear and smell way better than us and I'm curious if this other user who rated this show so low ever owned a dog and ever took him/her camping since they find it hard to believe that a dog will dig up worms.

Great concept poor execution
First, this was fun to watch if you like the outdoors and dogs. I've considered finding a camping dog for a long time. This made me want to get one.

However, the contest portion of the show is not well done. They should have left that out. The scoring was either fixed or the judging was not professionally done. Some episodes like "Barking up the wrong tree" had the scoring backwards. For example, wasting your time building an elaborate shelter while not eating for ten days is not surviving. That should not be rewarded.

Many of the contestants were also exaggerating as to the amount of help they received from their dogs. Although I think this was more in good fun to share an experience with their pet.
