Kinda bungled

Warning: Spoilers
It was sadly so obvious that Ben would be the the last bad guy.

Hasn't James already suffered enough? Why was is it necessary to turn his brother into the last guy from the list.

They formed a great duo, it really annoys me.

Weak ending

Warning: Spoilers
So the show was quite fun in general except all the stupid repetitive flashbacks. I knew the "friend" was going to be the twist from the start because of the way all these shows go, I thought he was either going to be "imaginary friend created by the brain tumor" or "surprise bad guy". The way they did the twist was "actually I was a bad guy the whole time" with the weakest build or cleverness, like for example, putting together parts of the show where you say "oh yeh that makes sense" - the twist is "he did something bad before the show that you didn't know about and now we're telling you.", similar to "and it was all a dream". Decent show overall tho.

Excellent show but one point confuses me

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this show now want to read the books. My only issue was that he killed lots and lots of private security people that likely had nothing to do with anything. They were on the battlefield so it's in keeping with his mindset.

Now I feel I have Terminal List hangover. (cries) I read the book a long time ago, but the episode still kept me on my toes. I wasn't sure how or if the show will change the "twist". Loved it, even teary eye.

Great season finale
Lythas_852 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Finally the reporter did something relevant and we find out the truth of the whole thing..

I was laughing at the incompetent FBI guy who is always late for the party.. plot convenience dictated he and the female cop took forever to reach the shootout when Reece was taking down Jai Courtney.

Now, the same happened in the safe house..

It was not a surprise when FBI dude let him go.. everybody saw that one coming 4 episodes ago.. and by the end of the show we pretty much knew Reece was going to kill everybody and leave without much harm to him..

the plot twist at the end was really... unexpected.. and I really did not understand it well.. his best bud who was going through hell to help him... was the one who took money and screw him over? Wat? Really? I do not buy it... it does not make sense.. they are brothers.. he helped him... but also, he took 20 million and let their brothers all die? No no.. buddy ben should have been left the way he was... a good sidekick and someone that Reece could talk to and open up.. hell, he was the only one.. since the reporter and reece did not have too much scenes together..

overall, a great season, fast paced and full of action.. if it comes back, make Reece no invincible.. make him suffer a bit so we can get fearful he is not going to make it..

Solid ending
Jorreviews9 August 2022
Ends with a bang and ties up loose ends neatly. The big "twist" is rather predictable and there's some plot armor but pretty entertaining overall. At the end, the story could conclude here and it would be fine. But, definitely left me willing to see more.

They all had it coming!

Warning: Spoilers
James Reese is a great character. He did what he had to do. I think the secretary had the contractors there instead of government because she did not want anymore innocent soldiers killed. Two main people are killed in this episode and both are remorseful and understand why they have to die! Well done series. Few changes from the book but since Jack Carr was working with Pratt, I assume he was happy with the changes. I just hope this gets picked up for a second season. Need more vengeance.

This Series was very good. I am so disappointed his best friend betrayed him, hell with a Friend Like Ben Who Needs An Enemy. This is definitely an action packed must watch series all eight episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
I think it was a bit of a mess there at the end. I think Hartley had to be the end of this season's conspiracy. Ben right at the end wasn't quite Dexter level bungling, but it was close. The Ben twist could have been Reece's return to humanity. Or even better just keeping Ben out of it.

Part of what made this show was it was Reece vs the elite. Ben having a part of this just seems implausible. He was doing his work from a trashed apartment. He looks and seems like a lower tier guy.

That twist bothers me a lot and I feel like the writers might need to think of a way to retcon that in the second season. Reece is kind of unreliable narrator with the tumor so there might be some room for that.

Loved the entire series, wasn't a big fan of Pratt doing more dramatic roles before I started but he's won me over. Kinda hope for more of these Amazon Pratt collabs.

poor ending
cugomaster23 July 2022
They ruined the ending. It was not as surprising as they predicted. I hoped they did not go that way and wrote something that cheesy but they did.

Apart from the last several minutes, the whole episode was pretty much the same as others, a bunch of explosions and gunfights with lots of men.

Horrible season finale
webhunky18 July 2022
As someone already said, season was destroyed by an unnecessary and ridiculous twist. Nothing made sense in this last episode, I had a "WTF" face during half of it.

Truth and Consequences
lavatch25 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Following the harrowing experience of terror in Coronado in which both Pillar and Howard died in the "vest" explosion, this concluding episode focuses on the large lake home of Secretary Lorraine Hartley. It is there that a reckoning will occur between the Secretary and Commander James Sullivan Reece.

With assistance from Ben, Reece is able to penetrate the compound and confront Secretary Hartley. One of the best scenes in the series is the long conversation of Katie Buranek with the Secretary, leading up to Reece's home invasion. The quick-thinking Katie is able recreate the chronology that does not fully exonerate the secretary from the Odin's Sword fiasco.

After confronting Hartley, Reece leaves the scene without killing her. She has taken her own life out of a sense of guilt and disgrace. There now remains only one item on Reece's list, which is Oberon Analytics. Someone at Oberon was a player and decision-maker in the Odin's Sword ordeal and the deaths of Lauren and Lucy. Thanks to Katie, Reece learns that the trail leads to Mancora, Peru, where Ben has fled.

The series' ending moments allowed both a sense of closure to the eight episodes, yet kept the door open for a second season on this thrilling and well-acted set of eight programs.

Fantastic show with some unnecessary changes
awoland6 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The book was a blueprint to success. It's brilliantly written. The show has all the right tools to pull out an incredible visual telling of the written word.

The tactics & gun handling are definitely top notch for a show / movie. You can tell real experts were involved. Superbly enjoyable to watch.

The acting has been terrific. Not a huge fan of Constance Wu as Katie, and I felt there was a noticeable lack of chemistry between her & Pratt - which was not & could not be the case in the books. Maybe that's why they changed the end...

I really liked many of the changes that were made to tell the story in a visual medium. Most make a ton of sense. Yet for as pivotal as the Katie/Reece relationship is & the way he left it at the end of Terminal List - this change never should have happened.

That is the only reason I can't go 10/10. But 9/10 is still an A, and I could go 9.5 I would. @prattprattpratt & @jackcarrusa did a terrific job with this series!

A shock, but very plausible.
spillmannallan30 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The fact that his good friend Ben was the anonymous part made perfect sense, even if it has been cruel to fans. Someone would have to have the contacts with the enemy in Syria, and none better than a CIA agent. In addition, the help that Ben gave to Reece was profound, which shows great regret and hatred for having murdered his friend's daughter and wife.

Also the story of Secretary of Defense Hartley is very convincing, and also her suicide as her political career would be completely destroyed. It's good to note that she didn't try to silence journalist Katie, as she knew it would be futile.

The book was FAR better
The show was great and I really enjoyed it. When I heard this would be a show, I remember thinking "how the hell are they going to do that without getting cancelled?!" as there is a whole controversial religious aspect/storyline which they stayed FAR away from in the show. All I can say is that Pratt did a good job as Reece.

I'd recommend reading/listening to the book and you'll be super surprised as it's a much better and deeper story. The ending is different and the reveal is different, plus, there are some great characters that never made it to the screen.

Starling
dannylee-7808220 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1. Reece goes for a swim 2. Hartley shoots herself 3. Ben dies on a boat

Jean Tripplehorn's performance as Hartley was pretty convincing. I think her motive made sense as it's the classic "sacrifice for a greater benefit". Believed her for a second while she explained herself to Katie. Only episode I feel like she had some substance to work with. Though I don't understand how she thinks that a drug that could cause 100% tumor rate in patients will change the PTSD game. We will count it as her delusion rather than bad writing because we've seen plenty of that throughout the series. Ben being the last conspirator was a twist that I didn't expect but made sense. Thought it was Hartley's assistant guy but that guy was just dropped from the plot entirely. But we will count that as a Red Herring instead of bad writing because we've seen plenty of that.

The whole starling scene was so repetitive and it was like beating a dead horse when they finally revealed the entire thing. We also learn that it has little to no greater purpose other than just "Daddy loves you". Reece also just casually taking out the entire security team was nothing new, but at this point they've redefined realism. But outside of that, I think it was a decent finale.

7 for the series, 1 for the ending
marklucas14717 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They should have just left it open at the end rather than have it being his best friend. Worst, most obvious twist in the world. It was so good, probably up until the last 2 episodes.

A twist too much
puzgolac23 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ben turning out to be the final bad guy was not unexpected. It was merely unnecessary. The "best friend is actually the secret enemy" is a trope done to death and it is no longer surprising to anybody, nor is it a good way to finish a story. It seems that the writers thought that more twists automatically mean better story, and that is never the case.

Other than that, I thought the series was ok and fun. Not perfect, of course. It requires some really serious suspension of disbelief. The flashback scenes were needlessly numerous and long and the secretary of defense's motivations and actions ultimately felt thin and unbelievable. Still, if they didn't do the final stupid twist for the sake of twist it would have been quite enjoyable. This way, it is still an alright watch, but the ending ruins it.

They should have NEVER made Ben the Bad guy!
duckboy-9417119 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 1-7 gets a 10/10 but because they made Ben the bad guy episode 8 gets a 1/10 Writers keep making the same mistakes in their scripts with these tv shows and They rarely ever get things right. There is one way they can redeem themselves though and as we seen right before the credits rolled Reece was on a heading for an unknown location but if they send him to Mexico for that brain surgery the Dr. Said he could save Reeces life and he'd only have to recover for 6 months. If they have him recover successfully and then 18 months later he's chillin on a beach and a navy admiral and a couple of his guys are seen walking down the beach towards Reece and the Admiral says that the United States Navy need him for some special op to save the world or something like that I'd say that they would have redeemed themselves for the blunder of making Ben a bad guy. This program is absolutely incredible and I can't wait for s02 & many more, Chris Pratt is the new action hero of our time! Hooyah!

Poor Ending
rdbass26 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
At the end we have Reece just appearing out of nowhere on his "Brother's" boat in the middle of the ocean off Peru with his friend unaware, completely healed from his wounds somehow. Very little explanation of the final scenes at all. The last thing Reece does is throw away the drawing of his family his daughter had done that had his kill list on the back. Apparently the only reason he had kept it was the list and not the love of his family that supposedly motivated his revenge killings and all the peripherals he killed as well. A very lame ending...

Worst ending in history
hmfic21715 July 2022
7 hours and 45 minutes of masterpiece destroyed by an unnecessary and ridiculous twist. The series went from brilliant to garbage at the end. Not sure if the ending was like this in the book, or if it was changed for the show. But whoever is responsible should be locked in a port-o-potty and set on fire.
