Entertaining enough, yet mildly inappropriate for its audience. (Spoilers)
daisyvision3 February 2014
First of all, I'm not sure who this movie is marketed to. Kids? Nickelodeon's logo scrolls at the beginning of the movie giving that impression, yet there are crass jokes such as "tadpoles in your dad's sac". There's also breast touching, sexual tension during said breast touching, and a boy commenting on his mother's small boobs. This would be fine and dandy, if the rest of the content wasn't so juvenile. I personally don't mind crass jokes, but I felt as if they were out of place. I just felt as though type of people who'd appreciate tadpoles in ball sacs aren't going to enjoy watching a one-armed Spider-Man fool adults out of candy while trick-or-treating. (You may think I'm being a "prude" with this review, but I appreciate the humor and gratuitous nudity in films such as "Harold & Kumar". It's juts that "Harold & Kumar" knows what it is and what sort of audience is watching it.)

Alfred is supposed to be the charming yet devious little boy character, but he was just so unlikeable. You're introduced to him on the toilet, hearing the sound effects of poop plopping into the water. As if once weren't enough, the last shot you see is, likewise, Alfred pooping on the toilet - sound effects and all. It's not funny, it's pretty gross, actually. Make sure you aren't snacking on popcorn while you watch.

A lot of the antics the teenagers get into while driving around feel very forced, with little resolution. Peng shooting chicken at a bully that he never encounters again? A kid totals his car, and his mothers not only don't care, but give him keys to a second car? I don't know. I just don't believe anything presented to me, and yet it doesn't have that surreality of something like "Tide Land". Though, it wasn't a complete waste of time. Thomas Middleditch & Thomas Mann play charming characters, Victoria Justice and Jane Levy are likewise talented actors who tried their best to bring lukewarm material to life. If you're looking for a slightly inappropriate and awkward Halloween movie to watch with the family, well, why not? Just don't expect too much out of it.

kinda fun, Justice good, silent kid a mistake
SnoopyStyle31 August 2013
This stars the latest Disney princess. It's Halloween and Wren (Victoria Justice) just wants to party with her best friend (Jane Levy). Instead her mother (Chelsea Handler) insists that she takes her little brother out for trick or treat. While out, she loses her brother and a mad cap search for him begins.

Josh Schwartz who wrote and produced TV shows Gossip Girl, Chuck, and The O.C. directs this teen movie. The movie does have potential. The leads are likable. A night of crazy adventure is usually fun and compelling. Keeping the kid silent was a mistake, and a better rewrite was needed. The search is completely illogical. The kid lacks charisma and not talking doesn't help any. Although Victoria Justice has the charisma to lead this movie which is the most important aspect.

Not fun enough
bostonian3328 October 2012
A teenage girl and her best friend want to attend the Halloween party with the cool kids, but are stuck trick-or-treating with her little brother. He becomes lost, and they spend the evening searching for him. What ensues is supposed to be a funny adventure of oddball characters getting themselves into amusing situations, but there just is not much to laugh at here. In the end the girl is destined to come to some sort of realization about what she really deems important, which is predictable and does not add much to the movie. Victoria Justice, who plays the girl, is pretty and likable enough, but that is not enough to make this movie fun to watch.

Not typical Nickelodeon
doubleb5815 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Never have I seen a Nickelodeon movie packed with more foul language, drinking, illegal behavior, and sexual references than Fun Size. The title, and the fact that it's a Nick movie, falsely implies that parents should take their kids and go see it. False, as this movie is supposed to target high school kids as its primary audience. It does have jokes in it that kids would find funny, but in my mind, it's pretty inappropriate to be viewed by younger kids.

That's not to say it isn't entertaining. There's lots of hit-and-miss going on here, with about half of the jokes actually succeeding in being funny. I did laugh out loud several times, which is the only reason I'm rating this at a 5/10.

The plot itself is very weak, and we wonder why the police aren't assisting Wren in finding her brother. Also, the girl who is supposed to be her best friend doesn't seem the least bit interested in helping her. And the two boys who like Wren, one a jock, and one a geek, look almost identical. Then the subplot involving the little brother and a dorky convenience store clerk who wants revenge on someone, which we never really find out why, at least I didn't pick up on it. ("I'm not luring a little kid into my car.") Wren's father just recently passed, and her mother is dating a 26 year old moron who lives with his parents. (Why, you ask? My guess is they needed a reason for the mother to be leaving the house for the night.)

To summarize, there were some pretty funny moments, but as a movie, it's below average at best. Definitely not Nickelodeon's best work, by a long shot, but at least I don't feel like I wasted 90 minutes of my life. 5/10

I liked it!
Tenby9 August 2013
I watched this movie on demand, and although there was some flaws, I thought it was very good, for reference, I'm 17 years old.

The story covers Wren, played by Victoria Justice, trying to find her trouble-making, prankster brother on Halloween.

There was a few cliché's, but I found them very easy to overlook, especially when you consider the fact that the cliché's are just sub-plots.

A lot of people are complaining that Nickeloden made a movie that isn't family friendly, but this wasn't the first time Nickeloden did this (Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging!!) so I didn't have a problem with this film being produced by Nickeloden and I honestly don't see why other people do.

I found this movie VERY funny and the main characters very compelling, Jane Levy's character is probably one of my favourite supporting character's in a comedy film at the moment.

Overall I enjoyed this movie for the overall atmosphere and give it a 7/10.

Strange Film From Nickelodeon Studios
jfgibson7324 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had such a strange tone to it. It resembles a teen comedy, but from the marketing, it's easy to mistake it as a family film. It somehow ends up being very chaste while pushing the limits of the PG-13 rating. The way the scenes play out have a very odd timing and delivery; I think that on paper, it would read as a pretty clever script, but often feels clunky and amateurish in execution. So the result was that there were a lot of times I was ready to laugh, but as a scene unfolded, ended up more confused by the unusual choices. The Nickelodeon brand adds to that confusion, being that parents expect to trust it for family entertainment. I think a strong director with a good sense of who the audience was for this movie could have made a little bit better film.

I laughed a lot, but . . .
cornishogre-127 October 2012
Pretty small audience when my husband and I saw this.

If you giggle hysterically over a teen girl deciding that maybe her Justice Ruth Ginsberg costume needs to be updated to a "sexy Justice Ginsberg", this movie is for you. We loved the nerdy humor.

If that joke, or the running one with an 8 year old deciding to be a one-armed Spidey (complete with bloody plastic severed arm) doesn't fill you with mirth, skip this film. We loved it.

Of course, we also loved Hudson Hawke, Howard the Duck, and The Stupids.

Happy Halloween!

Not safe for human consumption.
Jonathon_Natsis24 November 2012
Cue opening title cards. 'Paramount Pictures presents'…all good so far. 'A Nickelodeon film.' One can almost feel their gut falling right through the seat, because what might have been a bearable yet unmemorable way to spend a lazy hour-and-a-half has just become a chore of grand proportions. The company's penchant for bottom-brow humour, borderline-insulting stereotypes and colourful sets over a competent plot again rears its disfigured head with Fun Size: a film so utterly contrived that even its target market of bright-eyed tweens may begin to question Mum and Dad's sanity in stringing them along.

The film follows socially awkward teen Wren's (Victoria Justice) efforts to help her single mom (Chelsea Handler) take care of hell-raising baby brother Albert (Jackson Nicoll). When Wren has to babysit him during Halloween, Albert creates his own adventure, forcing his sister to band with the local nerd patrol and bring him back home safely.

Intertwined in this menial plot is just about every cliché conceivable under the tween dramedy genre. At no point does Fun Size invoke any more than a louder-than-usual exhale through the nose- the kind of laugh where you don't find anything funny per se, but acknowledge the other person's attempt at humour if for no other reason than to break tension.

The screenplay screams of a six-hour effort, characterisation is non-existent and any attempts to make characters likable backfire profusely, none more evident than through Albert himself, whose smug, rotund face is not quite as mischievous as it is deserving of a clip around the ears to set him straight. Osric Chau and Thomas Middleditch do their best with minimal material, but by that stage they might as well be using a cup of water to douse the Great Fire of London. The disaster's going to go ahead anyway.

*There's nothing I love more than a bit of feedback, good or bad. So drop me a line on jnatsis@iprimus.com.au and let me know what you thought of my review. If you're looking for a writer for your movie website or other publication, I'd also love to hear from you.*

Halloween Size
kosmasp10 June 2021
I have to admit, the title did not really tell me much about what was about to happen or be inside this movie. I was expecting a comedy and it works on that level (in some degree), but I did not see the Halloween theme ... and the teenage boys/girls love themes.

Anyway, it is a fun little movie that may make you aware of RBG, if you didn't know her before this (which would be a shame, but one is never too old to learn). Not a great movie, but a ... fun sized one, with some jokes that work and others that don't.

Misadventures in Babysitting at Halloween.

Although made in association with Nickelodeon. This is aimed at older kids. A slightly risque teen comedy of a night of misadventures.

Teenager Wren (Victoria Justice) has to babysit her younger brother Albert. He is naughty but has been silent for a year since their father died.

Their mom is going out on Halloween with her toyboy. Wren takes her costumed brother out trick or treating but he gets lost. Wren and her friend April band together with some nerds to look for Albert.

The movie is not without charm but it is too scatterbrained and tonally all over the place. It is really a tribute to John Hughes, who would effortlessly makes these types of movies back in the 1980s.

Better than expected
Tomadour12 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I could not understand the low rate of this movie. I thought it was an horror comedy movie but it is really a comedy.

I started laughing in the beginning and the best character is Albert, the 8 years old boy that needs to be babysitted because his widow mother has a party with her new 26 year old boyfriend.

The nerds are great, specially the jap/korean/oriental guy, I do not know where he comes from.

The scene in the chicken fast food is hilarious.

Maybe everybody was expecting a more sexual content like in the OC but the director delivered very well. It has lost some timing near the end but the last scene with Albert made me give this movie an 8.

Had a fun time with it
destroyerwod8 October 2021
This was #9 Halloween Season movie of 2021. Not horror, but i like to incorporate comedies/familly movies with an Halloween thematique in my program and this was my second one this year after Goosebumps 2.

I love those type of "one crazy night" movies and i love the Halloween theme, so this movie was fited for me...Being a Nickelodeon movie clearly made for the familly show, there is a few implied raunchier part but nothing too crazy. But i still found fun in what there was.

The lead ladies are fun and altough as some other reviewers i was less compelled by the kid character, i didn't mind him much either. Its after all the purpose of the adventure, searching for him.

I don't have a lot to say about this one, i had fun, its fine, glad i saw it.

The Fun Is Tiny, But The Size Is Huge!
groovyjazzychick88916 February 2014
Fun Size is the teen comedy produced by Nickeloden (the company who are responsible for iCarly and Wizards of Waveraly Place). It is about a girl who is forced to babysit her little brother when Halloween plans go awry. However, he goes missing and she has to set out with her nerd friends to find him...wow, that is a bland plot.

I have to admit, I didn't admire the idea of watching it judging from the trailer, but my friends wanted to see it, so I decided to give it a shot...what a dreadful mistake that was.

I must have slept through most of the movie, as I can't really remember what happened, but I was jumping for joy in my seat when it finished. This is a plain, dim-witted, over-the-top and rarely funny film, which has an uninteresting storyline, stereotypical characters (the glamorous girls who fall in love with hot boys and the nerds with big glasses and rabbit teeth) and gross jokes (gross as in reference to sexual acts).

The film is clearly aimed at young teenage girls, (it certainly didn't hit me)and is good for the drama queens.

Fun Size Review
FilmGuy3456716 June 2013
Fun Size- *1/2 (out of four): There are more laughs and more fun in an episode of "Victorious" than in this farce of a film, which would have fared better had it been released straight to DVD. It is crudely written, the teenage qualms seem entirely artificial and clichéd. There are some funny and even sweet moments in it, but the bad outweighs the good here. It tries to pay homage to older (and better) teen flicks of the '80s, but it falls far short, emerging as little more than a comedy full of gags and stereotypical characters. It might be enjoyable for a small minority of people, but I'm sure most will be quite bored by it. Definitely one to skip.

Not Fun At All
charlyferflores8 March 2013
I must first clarify that I like this kind of movies, is not a difficult formula to work, the popular and the losers young or teenagers, familiar faces or trendy, funny and absurd situations, etc.

In the case of "Fun Size" which reminded me of "License to Drive" despite having known faces such as Victoria Justice, Chelsea Handler and Johnny Knoxville, nothing seems to work.

It is one of the least funny comedy movies I've ever seen, I didn't get a laugh or even a smile, the characters are recycled, pretentious and soulless. Or maybe more than the characters the problem is a bad script or a very poor choice of cast. Even details like the color hair or the costume of the protagonist's seems to be accurate. It's all a mess.

I understand what they wanted to do but they did not. They had the elements but weren't able to capitalize them. It was a big disappointment for me.

Predictable and unoriginal but somewhat watchable
KineticSeoul4 March 2013
This is one of those predictable and unoriginal family movie. It doesn't try to be overly safe but it's pretty predictable. The nice guy liking a girl but the girl is into this so called cool guy. Well in this case some wannabe Johnny Depp dude. But it doesn't revolve around that scenario much instead it's a modern day journey for a night for the protagonist girl to find his lost trouble-making younger brother. And the main protagonist is the only somewhat rational one while everyone else is a bit wacko. Yeah, this is one of those movies. I liked how everything comes together though even if it's done in a predictable and unoriginal manner. Like how the nerdy guy finally gets the courage to fight for his love and etc. It's watchable but there is better movies when it comes to these types of genre. But I give it credit for trying to be a family friendly movie. And it's humorous although when it comes to those moments it's very few.

Cheesy but funny
summerkmoore9 October 2018
It reminded me a lot of the 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting. It seriously irritates me when a parent acts like a teenager, and the kids have to grow up too soon to take care of the parents. It just hit a little too close to home for me. There were some funny parts and a lot of cheesy ones. Not a family film, so don't watch it with the kids. Not that great of a movie, but an alternative to the horror fest of men killing teens with knives, saws, chainsaws, etc, and there are some lessons to be learned.

Halloween fun
thekarmicnomad21 March 2016
A high-school girl - intent on attending a Halloween party hosted by the most popular boy in school- is forced to baby sit her adoringly troublesome younger brother whilst her mother undergoes a midlife crisis. An adventure ensues.

This is a pretty disposable, teen flick with nothing particularly new - a kind of "Superbad - lite". But I think it has a lot going for it.

The actors and characters are great and there is quite a lot going on under the bonnet. There are the normal teen themes of individualism, friendship and peer pressure. But there is also threads regarding loss and acceptance. It even looks at the mother who now finds her life at a loose end.

But of course this movie is mostly about fun! It has its fair share of losers and jocks and cute little kids blowing things up with cherry bombs. etc. etc.

This is hardly "Apocalypse Now" but for a afternoon NetFlix movie you could do an awful lot worse.

Very disappointed
rodjamie062 March 2013
I know this was rated pg13, but this was horrible and I cannot believe nickelodeon put here name on it. Nickelodeon Is supposed to be for kids and that is what everyone thinks when they hear nickelodeon and this movie was not up to there standards. And I was disappointed that Victoria justice contributed to this movie, I have always liked the characters she has played but this one was not good and 20 minutes in we did not allow our daughter to watch anymore. Way to much sexual stuff in this movie for it to be pg 13 the content was just horrible,it could have been funny but they had to put all the raunchy crap in it. I cannot believe nick would produce or be affiliated with this movie.

Tries it's darndest to channel John Hughes and in some respects really does
Robert_duder20 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
First off...there is no doubt that Fun Size is incredibly cheesy, over the top, impossible and requires you to truly turn off your brain, but so what?! I think that it tries very hard to capture those classic teen romp films like Adventures in Babysitting and John Hughes films however, sadly I think Fun Size doesn't quite hit that level of intelligence. The biggest issue with Fun Size is that it doesn't know what demographic its trying to hit. Its a Nickelodeon film but is far too mature for 10-12 year olds (in my opinion) and too silly for 13-16 year olds, so I suppose it'll appeal to a select few of full blown adults like myself that are looking to recapture their youth or just turn off their brain and laugh but that isn't a demographic that will make this successful. It does try very hard and despite all odds it is surprisingly funny at times, and even a little touching however predictable it might be. There are so few movies that are actually about Halloween so maybe this one will become its own cheesy classic. Certainly if you're willing to put the time in you need to lower your expectations and don't over think it. You'll enjoy the sheer silliness of it.

Nickelodeon starlet Victoria Justice is very good in the lead role of Wren. She is believable, down to earth, and carries the movie quite easily. I actually think her level of acting ability probably exceeds a movie like this but she is owned lock stock and barrel by Nickelodeon so this is her lot in life for now. Jackson Nicoll is the adorably silent trouble maker Albert. He easily steals the show with his performance. He is perfectly cast and just so good at making you laugh as he goes on his madcap adventure. Chelsea Handler (who I don't like at all) actually pulls off a toned down comedic performance that is tolerable. That really is a big compliment coming from me towards her. Jane Levy is decent as the obligatory "best friend." The unfortunate part is that sometimes her character really does get irritating in her consistently selfish dialogue and character development. Thomas Mann is our geeky friend that loves our main character. He is good but certainly doesn't give a stand out performance. Mann and Justice are okay together but lack a certain top notch chemistry. Thomas Middleditch is also one of the better performances in a character that is slapstick and fun. Johnny Knoxville is appropriately dumb and over the top, its really the perfect role for him and I mean that as a backhanded compliment as well.

I can understand where some people would really be down on this film. There is no doubt that it is full of clichés, in fact every character nearly reeks of cliché. TV master Josh Schwartz helms this film and he has certainly created and worked on some truly great TV shows and I'm not sure this is his best creation but he definitely sincerely tries. I couldn't help but laugh my way through this. The Chicken shack scene was priceless and despite being cliché so many of the physical comedy scenes, and situations that they get into are genuinely funny and certainly worth watching if you can put your expectations in check. 7/10

AW COME ON FOLKS! FUN SIZE ROCKS!!!
Sunsphxsuns30 September 2021
Am I losing it? Why are there so many poor reviews for certain films I absolutely adore? Please tell me I'm not alone with this particular underrated Halloween gem!

Fun Size intriguingly plays like a Monkees TV show or a demented comic book, and not coincidentally, was partly produced by Nickelodeon. Hear this though: This isn't a kid's movie! But having said that, it has everything else a great "teen comedy" requires in order to entertain and enjoy.

Set in Cleveland, Fun Size focuses on the Halloween plans of a set of teenagers. The cast is so good it makes you want to cry. Add Chelsea Handler and Johnny Knoxville to the mix and Fun Size takes off on a ridiculously humorous flight path all its own. Even the extra young and insanely sociopathic Albert (Jackson Nicoll) manages to outstandingly provide a ton of humor, all without uttering a single word.

Of course there are darker, scarier, and just maybe, funnier Halloween movies to screen in October. But none of them will have a "humping chicken." No spoilers here. You'll just have to see for yourself!

An "Adventures in Babysitting" for the 21st century
terrellrobinson7111 November 2012
"Fun Size", which marks the directorial debut of Josh Schwartz (co-creator of "Chuck", "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl"), is a spunky and good-natured teenage comedy. How good-natured is it? To be frank, I have no clue, but there are some scenes that are good-natured somehow. Is it spunky enough for the whole family? It certainly is, but this is for the 11 & up stage. It's kind of shocking, of course, to see certain moments that are happening in a PG-13 film released by Nickelodeon Movies (the amount of swearing like three uses of the S-word and of the word that rhymes with "witch", farting jokes and sexual innuendo will help you determine that if it's safe for your kids or not). But above all else, it won me over and it certainly reminded me of the 80's classic "Adventures in Babysitting". Unlike Jonah Hill's "The Sitter", "Fun Size" gets that "Adventures in Babysitting" feel just right, although it would've worked better as a film released by MTV instead of Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon starlet Victoria Justice from "Victorious" stars as Wren DeSantis, a teen who is stuck being in between the popular crowd and the nerdy crowd. She wants to go to NYU, has an annoying, but likable, 8-year-old brother, Albert (Jackson Nicoll) and a single mom (an appropriately toned-down Chelsea Handler) who "shops at Forever 21" and is dating a boringly dumb model named Keevin (Josh Pence). But she likes having friends around with April ("Suburgatory"'s Jane Levy), who is desperate to be in the popular crowd and Roosevelt (Thomas Mann from "Project X"), the nerdy but smart kid who is co-captain of the debate team. When she gets invited to a party run by Aaron Riley (Thomas McDonell), the popular kid in school on Halloween, her plans gets thrown out the window when her mom (dressed up in her Britney Spears getup) ditches the kids to party with Keevin and leaving Wren (dressed up as Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz") to go trick-or-treating with Albert. It's a teen's worst nightmare and a parent's wild dream. When Albert (dressed up as an one-armed Spider-Man) gets lost and lands in the convenience store, where he makes friends with charming, but goofy store clerk Fuzzy (Thomas Middleditch), Wren, Roosevelt and April along with Roosevelt's friend Peng (Osric Chau) go on an adventure to rescue Albert and to be back before Wren's mom do. Wren's mom, on the other hand, do go to Keevin's friend's party only to get a serious reality check waiting for her, since she lost her husband a year ago. "Fun Size" is definitely a good movie, but has some flaws in there. The flaws I know are that Schwartz and screenwriter Max Werner tries too hard to make some of the gags work, however I did laugh at a lot of things (Albert using the toilet while his sister is in the shower, Albert dancing with his iconic heroine, Galaxy Scout (Riki Lindhomme), Peng taking on a high school bully with an antique period pistol and the iconic moment in which a giant chicken mascot from a restaurant humps a car that belongs to Roosevelt's mothers). And why is an unbilled Johnny Knoxville playing a clueless MMA fighter who kidnaps the fun-loving Albert and locks him in a house? It's too strange for me to tell, but his comeuppances are well-created. And I thought that Wren was a little undeveloped as a character. But no matter, I thought that Victoria Justice and Thomas Mann were charming and Chelsea Handler was incredible, but the scene-stealers are Jackson Nicoll, Thomas Middleditch and Ana Gasteyer & Kerri Kenney as Roosevelt's lesbian "Moms". Also, if you are an adult who appreciates this film, check to see if you can get a reference to the Beastie Boys and Pink Floyd in this film. It's flawed, yes. Is it beyond reaching for masochism pain? Absolutely not. Is it worth watching? Yes, but make sure to warn your kids if you're taking them to go see this movie. Plus, it has a lot of heart in there too.

Not Fun At Any Size.
anaconda-4065825 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Fun Size (2012): Dir: Josh Schwartz / Cast: Victoria Justice, Jane Levy, Chelsea Handler, Thomas Mann, Jackson Niccol: Perhaps the title references the young kid that runs about throughout in a Spider-Man costume on Halloween night but it doesn't matter. The film isn't fun at any size. It stars Victoria Justice who is disappointed because her Halloween plans are sabotaged when her widowed mother decide to go to a Halloween party with a much younger guy. Justice is joined by her cynical friend, played by Jane Levy. They manage to lose the kid brother who is hardly anything like a normal kid. He is like a junior James Bond. Most kids would be scared but this one has the same life line as the Home Alone kids. This kid gets into a car with a convenient store clerk who has no social life. This film could have been Superbad but instead it becomes an insult to the genre. We get to see a large plastic chicken crash through a car in the appearance of anal humping. We have another situation where the young kid is locked in a house after a prank gone wrong. Director Josh Schwartz has one element to his favor and that is the locations, otherwise this potential cult film becomes a lazy exercise in crude humour that resorts to naked children on the toilet. The characters are dull and the cast can merely recite tired jokes, except for Jackson Niccol as the kid who just makes facial reactions and shrugs a lot. Superbad had genuine character, meaning and payoff that viewers may relate to. The only sizable fun thing about this junk is the massive stampede to the theatre lobby to ask for a refund. This film is more trick than treat. Score: 2 / 10

Wrong Type Of Audience For This Type of Movie
zkonedog5 March 2017
Every once in awhile, I'm up for a good hijinks movie. So, I decided to take my younger sister (who usually eats up anything Disney/Nick) to see this one the weekend before Halloween. I knew from the first 10-15 minutes that this was going to be mind-numbingly stupid, and even my sister agreed upon the film's conclusion that it just wasn't very good at all.

For a basic plot summary, "Fun Size" sees teenage Wren (Victoria Justice) and her crazier friend April (Jane Levy) forced to babysit her younger brother Albert (Jackson Nicoll) on Halloween night instead of going to the "cool kids" party. When Albert goes missing, however, craziness ensues.

There are two main problems with this movie:

1. It has been absolutely done to death over the past few years (or since whenever "Superbad" came out). The whole "group of friends doing crazy things and getting involved in wacky situations" genre was copied and pasted time and time again after "Superbad", and now maybe has just gotten a bit stale.

2. The main problem, though, is that such "hijinks flicks", as I like to call them, are usually made for a more mature audience. In the case of "Fun Size", though, the jokes are not "crude" enough for the older teens but a bit too "crude" for the younger teens. It is kind of like the film is stuck in limbo between potential audiences.

I wish I could find anything good to say about this effort, but I really cannot. The acting is nothing special, the plot has no place in these kind of movies, and the overall message is so sappy that it is just too unrealistic to take seriously whatsoever.

Thus, "Fun Size" can be avoided at all costs with no regret. Frankly put, it just doesn't have any one audience that will feel comfortable watching it.
