Cannibal nuns can't save everything.

Ouch. Still worth watching, but rough even for an indie film. It trades on the concepts alone, doesn't back much of it up with technique. The acting really isn't very good, and the dialogue doesn't help much. Film editing and cinematography show some creativity, Sound editing is stylized but doesn't really create a believable soundscape. Music is good. Concepts are great, makeup for the nuns good, set dressing and props decent. Really doesn't hit on any level, until the very last scene, and the end credits. Stay through the credits. A few sparkling moments with the nuns themselves, the last scene and the credits are enjoyable enough to make it worth watching such a short film.

Cannibalistic Nuns and Gruesome Fun

There's one simple reason why I wanted to watch writer/director Bobby Canipe Jr.'s short film Intinction. It has cannibalistic nuns. Yes, cannibalistic nuns. As you can probably tell by now, this isn't a film that takes itself too seriously. It's gruesome. It's gory, and most importantly, it's fun.

If I have one gripe, it's the acting. Some of the lines are delivered in monotone fashion, and there's not enough distinction between the friends. Ralph is the only exception simply because he's the comedic relief, clenching a six pack and sporting a hat that says, "I love titties and beer." If this is ever turned into a full-length, and I hope it is, there needs to be more time given to creating fully realized characters.

That said, Intinction is a schlocky good time, a short that succeeds at entertaining. I'd love to see this turned into a feature, especially so the four main characters can have their own personalities and distinctions. While his influences here are clear, Canipe Jr. Crafted his own story set in the present. I'd love to see how far he can push the gore and effects with an even bigger budget.

This will be undoubtedly wedged into the Nun-Splatter horror sub genre.

My thoughts on this film is that Intinction is demented, extremely gory, and even hilarious at times if you dig the cheesy-campy side of horror. But don't get fooled, this film has some very disturbing and creepy cinematography shots with great effects and a well done score to push the creepiness even further. -Marcus Rude, Rude Horror Podcast.

Awesome throwback to 80s/90s Horror

I had a great time with this one. For such an obviously small production, it manages to have real creep factor and pacing that suits the run time perfectly. In fact, the amount of story and action that happens in such a short run time was surprising. You can really see how a bigger budgeted full length feature could be made out of this and i for one hope that happens. If the Director makes documentaries as good as his short films, i think we are in for a good time. If you get the chance to see this this Holiday season, please do. AMEN.

Fantastic short

Intinction is a phenomenal piece of art for those of us who love 70s/80s horror, and of course fans of practical effects/makeup over CGI.

It's very well written, very well filmed, and the acting is perfect for this story. Schlocky when it needs to be schlocky, gory when it needs to be gory (but not insanely gory; just a little here and there, then goregasm in the final few minutes), and entertaining start to finish. Intinction never feels like it drags at any point during the 25 minute runtime; this short film gives you all killer no filler.

If you're looking for a quick love letter to the best decade for horror, this is for you.
