Impressive.

For one of the first Mauritian films, it's impressive. Of course the film is predictable and cliché in some ways; and some scenes are too heavy and dramatic while some light moments with more smiles and jokes (such as in the nightclub) would be perfect.

Despite these, the movie remains light with a simple plot and knowing the film industry in Mauritius - which is almost non-existent, and under-considered, Biye Retour puts the bar very, very high. The team was able to find the perfect balance between having a local identity and inspirations from the West.

Good acting, specially for the actors behind Parsad and Doriane.

Congrats to everyone who worked on that film.

NOT TO MISS - REWARDING IN SOME MANY WAYS

The aggressive atmosphere rooted in the clash of modern and traditional is palpable, and for a Mauritian viewer instantly recognizable. Well communicated, without prejudices and finger pointing. It would be appreciated by audience from any society as a story of difficult generation switch.

Limited life choices so common to any small island are playing out in three generations as the lure of better life, free life, requires forgoing ones heritage and tradition. The choice so familiar to any immigrant.

Acting is genuine and the quality of sound and photography solid. Kreol language is musical and adds to the uniqueness of this movie.
