An actor tries out his lines on the wrong woman.

This short film is smart, sexy, and funny. The shots are beautifully framed. Underscored with great original music, the opening takes us directly into the world of smoky bars, typed manuscripts, elegant shot glasses and crystal clear martinis. The style is sheik and retro. It is delightfully meta cinematic, almost nostalgic in its use of sepia tones and black-white-gray tones along with saturated colors. The thick atmosphere is evocative of another time and place but one we are all familiar with thanks to our shared cultural gestalt and movie tradition. The writing is clever and crisp and the direction of the actors is subtly compelling. The actors are interestingly attractive with voices to match. The pace is leisurely but suspenseful with a surprisingly unexpected and satisfying outcome. This is a witty homage to film noir. If this film was a gem it would be a chocolate diamond.
