Some beautiful scenes, and a satisfying conclusion.

Warning: Spoilers
DI Perez continues to investigate the murders of Mima and Hattie, but he faces additional challenges, his boss has decided to bring in external officers, and the Helly Aa festival is imminent, time is running out.

The first episode was solid, I'd say the concluding part was very good, very well paced, lots going on, and plenty of visuals. The fire festival looked extremely good, and again the locations and filming were spot on.

Henshall once again spot on, making Perez a character you definitely want to see more of, well supported, by Lindy Whiteford (Jackie) and Jim Sturgeon (Ronald) in particular.

Fans of Vera will no doubt enjoy this, great to see the characters of Ann Cleeves doing so well. Very good overall, 8/10

The dead body of Hattie James means that DI Perez now has two murders to investigate. There is the Up Helly Aa fire festival due that will have visitors on the island.

His superiors wants Perez to crack the case quickly or else they will bring police officers from the mainland.

Perez is worried that the Shetland Islands are not safe for his daughter.

However DI Perez instincts are that someone in the Wilson family is responsible for the murders. It has to be linked to their wartime activity and the prosperity of one branch of the family.

Perez finds out about a love affair that Mima Wilson had with a Norwegian escapee.

The episode does well with showing off the beauty of the Shetlands. That meshed well with the fire festival.

Once a possible suspect made a serious slip up. I did think some of the later twists and turns were superfluous.
