Conning a couple of conners
Tweekums5 February 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When a friend of the team suffers a heart attack they are shocked to learn that she has been sold a product that claims to aid weight loss without requiring the dieter to stop eating any of their regular foods. Clearly it is a con and a dangerous one at that so they decide to turn the tables on the couple responsible... by selling them a dodgy weight loss product! Obviously they can't just offer it to them as they'd smell a rat; instead Mickey lets them learn that he can acquire any artwork for a price; knowing they have one of a pair of Fabergé eggs they set about stealing the other. That isn't the main con though; each week they meet their mark and each week Ash wears a slightly smaller fat suit... by the time of the robbery they are begging to find out how he did it. It looks as if everything is going to plan until Sean gets arrested; at this point Mickey calls off the plan they have hatched to steal the fake formula they have planted; luckily the marks are greedy enough to do it themselves... of course this being Hustle not everything was as it seemed when first viewed.

This was a typical Hustle episode; plenty of fun, a bit of a mystery wondering how they would get away with it followed by a nice reveal at the end. The story was enjoyable and the twist weren't overly obvious although I'm sure regular viewers will have had an idea about them. Guest stars John Barrowmen and Raquel Cassidy did a fine job as the teams deserving target; although I'm a little unsure about the latter's accent. After years of being the loser in the series it was nice to see barman Eddie have a bit of luck; although how long it will last is anybody's guess.
