Times change

This is my favorite series from BBC. It has the the best soundtrack season to season, scripts are always good. Have seen new actors grow into staples over the years. It's green a history lesson to show cultural changes from post war to now 70's London. Many topical historical happenings written into scripts and addressed. Having said that, it is getting to be wrap up time.. the new characters lack the depth of earlier ones, thus setting up a predictability and lessening of quality coming forth. Sadly I think it's time to wrap it up. Next season would be a good time to,tie things up. It's our favorite, but please don'f jump the shark.

Christmas Special 2022

Warning: Spoilers
The BBC rely heavily on 'Call the Midwife' on Christmas night, and even all these years later it continues to deliver for them, as the ratings show.

Much like a lot of things at Christmas it's a very traditional affair - I'm sure if you were of a cynical disposition you'd be able to predict exactly what is going to happen, BUT that doesn't make it any the less enjoyable.

In standard 'Call the Midwife' style the Christmas Special is used to write a previously key character out, with just a few lines to describe where they've gone off to. Maybe to find Chummy, who seems to have been at the mother house for nearly a decade now.

Warm-hearted, funny and at times moving, this remains a key centre piece for the BBC.

Tear jerker

We started watching this series from the first episode and it has never failed to bring a tear to my eye in every episode. No series writing has stayed so close to the original idea . The opening narration by Ms Redgrave is always moving but that is to be expected considering the narrator and the writing. Many of the stars have gone on to other series but I am hopeful that when and IF the series ever ends they will all return for a final bow. As main characters have come and gone the series has only gotten stronger and more realistic. Like most of you I want to live in Poplar.

Always looking forward to another season.
