1830, just outside the town of Raven’s Hollow, five West Point cadets, Edgar Allan Poe, yes the writer, Lawrence Bishop (Kyle Rowe; The Brothers Grimsby), Will Taylor, Thomas Cricke (Michael Guest; Balance) and Lutz Becker come across a man disemboweled and hung up like a scarecrow.
In true cinematic fashion, he has just enough life left in him to utter a single word, “Raven”, before dying. Poe convinces the others it’s their duty to bring his body to town for proper burial. What they find is a town that is almost deserted, its inhabitants in the middle of a funeral for a girl we saw die a most unnatural death in the film’s prologue. It quickly...

Last October, we shared the news that Battle of the Damned director Christopher Hatton‘s mystery horror / supernatural thriller Raven’s Hollow, which stars William Moseley (The Chronicles of Narnia) as Edgar Allan Poe, had landed a distribution deal with the Shudder streaming service. Shudder has now announced that they’ll be releasing Raven’s Hollow on September 22nd – and along with that announcement comes the unveiling of a trailer for the film, which you can watch in the embed above.
Inspired by Poe’s mysterious exit from the Military Academy at West Point, Raven’s Hollow is set in the fall of 1830 and has the following synopsis:
West Point military Cadet Edgar Allan Poe and four other cadets on a training exercise in upstate New York come upon a man eviscerated on a bizarre wooden rack. His dying words direct them to a forgotten community, which they believe is guarding sinister secrets.

Stars: Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, Michael Jai White | Written by | Directed by
Since his role in the blockbusting ensemble piece The Expendables, Dolph Lundgren has been somewhat of a tour-de-force in the world of direct-to-market action flicks. From straight forward action movies like Hard Rush and A Certain Justice, to more fantastical films such Battle of the Damned and Legendary, Lundgren has been tolling away in the genre starring in films that, whilst not all are entirely successful, are ways apart from his pre-Expendables career.
The reason for his recent success, in this reviewers opinion, seems to be his willingness to share the limelight. Where once he may have demanded the mot screen time, a headline on the poster etc., these days his films are more about the ensembles within them. Film: "Battle of the Damned"; Cast: Dolph Lundgren, Melanie Zanetti, Matt Doran, Jen Sung Outerbridge, Lydia Look, Oda Maria, Esteban Cueto, David Field; Director: Christopher Hatton; Rating: *
To watch "Battle of the Damned" is like rotting in hell with zombies, killer robots, obtuse-damned survivors and an overdose of innate absurdity that is prevalent in the film.
The film begins with a 15-minute prologue that seems to be detached from the film. It is revealed that Army Major Max Gatling (Dolph Lundgren) is dispatched by a desperate rich and influential man, head of a biotech company, to rescue his daughter Jude (Melanie Zanetti) from a zombie-infested city.
No sooner has Jude's father delivered the necessary.

Save for his appearances in The Expendables series, Dolph Lundgren’s career has been straight-to-video since the 90s, and it’s too bad. The man can act well enough for an action star when he gets the chance, but his age has started to show to the point where it hinders his credibility as an action star in movies like his latest effort, Battle of the Damned. Our first glimpses of him as a goofily armored mercenary see him running along weakly and besides for a few beats here and there, we never get a moment in the film that makes good use of his physicality. Maybe that’s more a fault of the film’s writing and editing, but it also speaks to a sad truth that even action stars get old. On the plus side, at least Dolph has managed to find a zombie flick that’s better...

Director/writer: Christopher Hatton. Cast: Dolph Lundgren, Melanie Zanetti, Matt Doran, David Field and Jen Sung. Battle of the Damned is an indie actioner from Bleiberg Entertainment. This viewer knows Bleiberg more from its acquisition and sales in film. However, this company's action production arm, Compound B, has brought together a memorable outing in their latest collabortion. A throwback to action films of the late '80s and early '90s, Battle of the Damned places actor Dolph Lundgren as Max Gatling in the middle of an environmental disaster. This title focuses on violent action and a few characters, with the film delivering some light entertainment. Battle of the Damned is an indie action film of note and fans of strong heroes with few lines will enjoy this straight-to-video outing. It is all about the rescue. The central character Max is tasked with infiltrating a walled off city, in Thailand.

"Afternoon Delight"
What's It About? Rachel (Kathryn Hahn) is a frustrated stay-at-home who's enjoying a naughty night out at the strip club with her husband (Josh Radnor). After Rachel gets a lap dance from the beautiful young McKenna (Juno Temple), she becomes fascinated with McKenna and tries to forge a friendship. Rachel invites McKenna to live with her and her husband and act as a live-in babysitter for their young son. What starts as an afternoon delight becomes much more complicated.
Why We're In: Hahn is usually very, very funny, but here she's given the chance to show off her dramatic, dysfunctional chops. Plus, it's by writer/director Jill Soloway, who worked on "United States of Tara" and "Six Feet Under."

If I were to sit here and list, the amount of plot elements Battle of the Damned has stolen from famous genre films, we would be here all day. Escape From NY, The Terminator, 28 Days Later, Maybe even Chopping Mall? This isn’t necessarily a complaint, more of an observation, maybe even a mild warning. This is not, by any stretch of the imagination, an original film. In fact, while watching it, you can almost picture a play-by-play of the meeting that got the funding for this film greenlit. “Imagine if you will, a zombie movie, identical to every other zombie movie ever made, only with Ivan Drago… and robots. Granted, it’s not evil robots, that Lundgren has to battle alongside the undead, but wayward robots that just appear in the middle of this “Battle of the Damned”, and submit to taking orders from Mr. Lundgren. Convenient, no? If...

Battle of the Damned at a single glance looks like a dreadful piece of rubbish. Its not. The pic is actually rather thrilling and boasts some awesome action scenes. The moment in which the robots arrive and proceed to tear through the infected is just plain awesome. This is the kind of stuff that will make a geek fanboy overjoyed. Giant robots that look as though they could have appeared in an early Star Wars film wreaking havoc on the bad guys Yeah thats gratifying stuff there. Dont judge this one on trailers or still pics alone its a hell of a lot better than early media suggests.

Honestly, what more do you need to know about 'Battle Of The Damned' other than it's got Dolph Lundgren and is a movie about killer robotos versus zombies? Sold! Anchor Bay Entertainment unleashes this beast onto Blu-Ray and DVD on February 18th, but to tide you over until then, we've got both a green-band and a red-band trailer. Both are slightly tonely different, so I recommend starting with the green-band. If you want to hear a killer robot say the "F" word, then follow it up with the red-band. See 'em both below!
'Battle Of The Damned' is written and directed by Christopher Hatton and produced by Ehud Bleiberg, Leon Tong and Hatton. It stars Dolph Lundgren ('The Expendables'), Matt Doran ('The Matrix'), David Field ('Chopper') & Esteban Cueto ('Fast Five').

In this ridiculous, yet awesome looking, new film, Battle of the Damned, Dolph Lundgren teams up with a small army of robots to take on the zombie apocalypse! The apocalypse doesn't stand a chance! The robots have one mission, and one mission only against the zombies hordes, and that is "To fuck them up."

As fans of action movies we have to sit through some truly horrible movies just to enjoy the scenes where a big action hero makes his appearance and makes some smart assed comment. This is what I thought I’d be getting with Battle of the Damned. The thing is though, when you put Dolph Lundgren, robots and some questionable zombies together you actually get quite a good movie!

To celebrate the release of the spectacular action sci-fi Battle of the Damned starring the killer combination of Dolph Lundgren, zombies and robots (seriously) – out on DVD & Blu-ray 26th December – we have a copy on Blu-ray to give away to one lucky winner!
Following a deadly viral outbreak, private military soldier Max Gatling (Lundgren) is enlisted to rescue a female survivor from the confines of the contaminated zone on the outskirts of civilisation. Gatling soon gets more than he bargained for when he is compelled to lead a group of survivors and a band of deadly prototype robots against an army of the damned.
We love seeing one of our all-time favourite action heroes back on the screen beating those un-deads into submission. Not only does Dolph prove he can still kick some serious zombie ass, he does it looking as chiseled and charismatic as ever… Look out for our review soon!

The recent period of rapid political and economic change across Mena has resulted in wildly different theatrical fortunes from territory to territory.

I don't know if Joe Lynch's Knights of Badassdom has ever actually screened for festival audiences, but I know the Larp (Live Action Role Playing)-centric comedy is one many have been looking forward to seeing and looks like it may be a good companion piece to Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. Production began way back in 2010 and it has been stagnant for the longest time, but now eOne Films has the rights and with it getting an MPAA rating today it could mean a release is right around the corner. The film stars the likes of "True Blood" star Ryan Kwanten, Peter Dinklage (X-Men: Days of Future Past, "Game of Thrones") and Summer Glau (Serenity). Additionally we have a rating for Asghar Farhadi's The Past, which I saw and loved at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, as well as a rating for the Christmas Day...

Dolph Lundgren battling hordes of zombies with particularly terrible makeup and trippy robot things running around Were there like yesterday In all honesty Battle of the Damned looks as though it may be a bit on the cheesy side. But sometimes cheesy makes for good (Ill admit those robots look kind of cool in a vintage sort of way) lighthearted fun. That could very well be the case in this instance as good old Dolph should make for an endearingly awkward piece of this puzzle.
