Ripening is a short indie animated short by Jason Maurer, co-director of Delgo, often considered one of the worst animated films ever made.
This is a much experimental work, combining CGI, stop-motion (or maybe CGI that replicates stop-motion very well) and 2D animation to depict the decay of a relationship, leading to heartbreak and eventual acceptance.
I do appreciate its less idyllic approach to romance (often idealized by many animated shorts) without being entirely pessimistic.
Overall, a pleasant surprise.
Shame his other short, Sweet Revenge seems to be impossible to find anywhere, because the premise seemed quite interesting.
