Controversial, a mixed bag.
Sleepin_Dragon23 October 2018
Greater love continues the show's recent format for rent off a series with the big finale, set on foreign fields. If you're able to suspend reality, and totally switch off, you'll enjoy it, if you start taking it too seriously you'll pick holes in it from start to finish. There are several moments when you ask yourself if that would really happen.

Definitely positives, the location work looks terrific, it's a dramatic landscape, and looks incredible, such a contrast to the usual British city setting. The music and production values are particularly good. It's well acted as always, Gaminara gives a great performance, Jack's character is a little irritating, after such a brilliant season, he's a bit petulant, a little immature.

I like the concept of the story, it's creative, and definitely controversial, as I said earlier you need to suspend belief, I wonder what happened to all the corpses piling up at the Lyell Centre?

After such a brilliant, reinvigorated series, I always found this one a wee bit of a let down, it's still good though. 7/10

Nikki Is in the Way
Hitchcoc24 April 2019
When the group goes foreign, things turn bad. This episode is so unbelievable that it will be hard to watch the rest. When a soldier finds out his brother's remains may have been found in Afghanistan, the gang heads off there. The begin to look into the body and are attacked by Taliban terrorists. Nikki decides to nursemaid some prisoners. She thinks it's OK to put everyone in danger. Sometimes her character makes me so mad.

The worst episode ever!
hankmartinez-6001429 March 2019
I think the other reviews have been very kind to this episode, and the writers:). One would normally have to suspend disbelief to watch any series purporting to be based on "real jobs" such as detective, fire fighters, or pathologists in this case, but this episode takes the cake!. Worst liberal claptrap nonsense I've ever seen on a series which normally delivers good stories, all be it a bit far fetched.

Unrealistic Liberal Nonsense
tag19810 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the worst pieces television I have seen in a long time.

My main irritations are as follows.

1) Nikki would never be allowed near the captured insurgents 2) Nobody, anywhere, ever would care that much about a group of terrorists who, only a couple of days before, had been trying to kill them 3) The plot "twist" is so obvious it could have been tattooed on Leo's forehead for the entire episode and not been any less of a shock.

This is just appallingly ham-fisted writing from somebody who has clearly let their extreme liberal views blind them to the ridiculousness of this "plot".

A shockingly bad end to what was otherwise a good series.

Whoever wrote this episode should be sacked.

Rubbish. Rubbish. Rubbish.

Patronising, White Saviour Stuff
retina_scan23 January 2022
Although I've loved several stories of Silent Witness, when they try to "do" other culture/race/etc, it's all very patronisig and white saviour stuff.

Especially that period, I remember the brilliant Danish crime drama The Killing, whose superb first season was followed by a second one which wa again about travelling to Afghanistan and save the day. The situation in the Middle East is much more complex than that, stay out of it...

Dumb dumber and dumbest
oldguy75477 November 2023
We have been binging this series for several weeks now. Many of the episodes show the team to be pretty dumb for a team that is supposed to be made up of smart people. This episode takes the cake for being dumb. The previous couple of episodes fretted about expenditures and who will be paying for the test. In this episode the whole team flies to Afghanistan so who is paying for that. Then the real stupidty happens after an attack and they are worried about getting the job done not that they may be killed. Leo is always on some soap box but he was at his best in this one, what a dope. I really like the series but this one was truely awful.
