Just saw this at Slamdance and was blown away. No-budget films simply aren't supposed to be this excellent. Thoughtful, patient students of comedy & filmmaking (or "coastal elites," as they're referred to in the film) will find much to appreciate about Cash Cow.
It's difficult to boil Cash Cow down to a concise logline, and it's even more difficult to assign the film a genre -- and I mean that in the best way possible. Cash Cow is unique, it's hilarious, and I don't feel I'm spoiling anything when I say that it has perhaps the single most satisfying ending I've ever witnessed.
Congrats to Barats & his team on this "indie-as-it-gets" triumph. Cash Cow is proof that artists don't need permission or funding to make world-class art.
