Slow going in Hope Valley

This episode was slow. Primarily because they are really beating this Henry storyline to death. Don't get me wrong, I love Martin Cummins, he's a fantastic actor, and this new Show Runner hasn't had anything to do with his arc up until now. But please, can we move on from these doldrums and give him something happy for once? I'm quite sure Martin has the acting chops to pull it off.

Jack Wagner was however, the highlight this episode. Loved his scenes as Bill, with both Henry and Elizabeth. Just the right amount of touching and was true to his character. This is why we love having him around!

Still loved the gal trio - Mei, Faith, and Fiona, esp when they "catch" Bill at the hot springs. This was pretty comical, especially Fiona! She brings something so light and fluffy, her comedic side just hits a home run. (Loved the other "gal" trio too- Minnie, Flo, and Mo)...

Kevin McGarry was back, showcasing his comedic chops too. Loved Nathan with scout, the ice cream, and his trouble talking to women. He does these "awkward" scenes so well, they just warm your heart. And he's so expressive with his facial expressions. Says it all! Fantastic actor.

Hyland was adorable, as was Rosemary. Loved the "maybe you need a cookie" bit, which eventually led to good advice - about communicating. Although, I'm worried. Why is a couple that's headed toward marriage still having so much trouble communicating? This is troublesome...unless the writers are doing it on purpose? Setting up a "rocky" path for them?

And while I liked Lucas last episode, I have to say I was disappointed this one. The guy takes one step forward and two steps back. Last episode we liked him, he was bringing the community together, showing substance, a possible redemptive arc, and now this episode, it's back to gambling? Why does he fall into Aunt Agatha's trap (even if she was actually funny)?

Quote of the episode: "He's a lovely match for you, but if there were were ever a man destined for a larger stage..." -Aunt Agatha.

It was nice to see Julie again, and I did like Aunt Agatha overall. She came and shook things up, exposed some issues between the engaged couple. Yes, I think Lucas would fit in Hamilton just fine, but the problem is, Elizabeth no longer does. Are they trying to point out that difference on purpose? And yes, I was glad Aunt Agatha asked the question: is Lucas happy? Will he be in the long run? Because yes, he does seem to like "the bigger stage".

The Nathan and Faith coupling is still awkward. The writers are trying too hard with this one, it's just not natural. In their private conversation, about their supposed "break up", Nathan was so earnest and touched our hearts, but Faith is still Faith - oblivious to what is right in front of her. She just can't seem to get on the same page, another couple who's wires are crossed.

I did enjoy Mike, though, trying to spin the conversation so he can spend time with Faith, but it totally backfired. Ben Rosenbaum is funny, his facial expressions are top notch.
