I can already tell that this season is going to outdo the first. Seeing Jeri Ryan again after her Star Trek days is fun, and she's playing a more neurotic and b*tchy character than her usual cool blonde role, which shows her range.
Her husband is interesting too. You know those two are more involved in...something...than they are letting on.
The chief villain is giving off No Country For Old Men vibes, Javier Bardem style. Having that type as an antagonist is very effective and chilling.
However, one quibble, and I'll keep it vague and unspoilery. There was no need for Leaphorn to endanger himself to "defuse" the threat, and there's no way he would have the expertise for it either. Just put it in a clearing and shoot it from a distance. Or even simpler: drop it in a bucket of water.
