sadness in the hands of paranoia.

This story is one about how a native man makes sense of his life journey, through the white man's model of abuse and the universal effects it has on soul. This young native man, endured hardships, but did he really overcome them? It seems that his natural healing process came from what other people's views were versus him finding his own voice. The medical model is such a strong concept that it overflows into social work, foster care and law. All are integrated, but if an individual is fragmented and fits a little bit here and a little bit there, where can one truly find a home, outside oneself or inside oneself? For example, this lead character was native, but knew almost nothing about his heritage, instead he knew more about church versus his own spiritualism, as a native. To me, this is a system breakdown. It is not conducive to a fragmented individual. Each part of the individual probably needs to be satisfied before full integration can occur. Individual complication versus one size fits all. Happiness of insights versus containment is key.
