Where's Steve?
Mothership813 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Have any of these writers actually watched any episodes of SATC? If they had then surely they would have Steve and Aiden hanging out together in at least one episode.

I think we can all see where Carrie and Aiden are headed and it aint Disneyland. Last episode Carrie was off to the farm and teens but did we, the audience, get to see those meetings? No. Plain lazy writing. Anyway, Aiden visits Carrie every other week and flys to New York but being a country dude, why doesn't he drive? It just seems uncharacteristic of him flying in and out all the time. It's also getting boring watching these two just sopping around in this apartment and the ridiculous notion of him not being able to set foot into Carrie's apartment because of something that happened a hundred years ago. Also, why oh why would he even have discussed Carrie with his wife, with whom he's been with longer than he was ever with Carrie? Wasn't it less than two years? Totally unrealistic. Also his ex meeting Carrie for coffee and telling her not to hurt Aiden again. Say what?!!

Now what's with this dude (from Beauty and the Beast) hanging around every now and then and boring people with his divorce stories? How and what has he got to do with anything? Same with all these extra people - Seema, Che, Lisette - we don't care about them so please let them go.

Lastly, SJP, please do something with your long, dank hair. Chop a heap off and curl it up and add some fringe or bangs or whatever. It would suit you so much better. Cheers!

Not the crescendo we were expecting
martin-intercultural3 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Somehow the many pieces of this episode didn't quite fit together. I never found Aidan's character believable during the best of his SATC days (news flash: men who are manly AND artistic AND sensitive pretty much don't exist in the real world). In this series, on top of being weirdly, metrosexually thin for a 50-something dad of three (who used to battle the bulge in his 30s), the actor is plain camping it up, as if this was all a joke and he's ready to burst out laughing. Carrie apparently inherited a 10-figure sum from Big (whom she used to call John and mourn deeply, but now he's "Big" again, and possibly a "Big mistake"), because she's snapping up a palatial four-bed / three-bath apartment in an Old Money part of the city. Meanwhile, Miranda and Charlotte are given hardly any material to work with. As for the rest of the characters, we've long forgotten who they are and what their deal is, despite the writers' desperate attempts at a cliffhanger of sorts ("I'm pregnant!"). Nobody cares; it's like switching to another TV channel by accident and then trying to figure out what in heaven's name is going on. Overall, the previous few episodes managed to bring back the emotional undertones of SATC quite touchingly, but I'm afraid it's been downhill from there.

Too many characters you don't care about
Elliott-NL10 August 2023
In this episode we follow too many characters. The cast is almost as large as that of the average soap opera. As a result, the storylines are so short that it does little good to the characters. You don't really bond with the characters this way.

As a viewer you follow short storylines of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, Nya, Seema, Lisa, Che and Anthony in this episode. Why though? The writers have to show a little more guts and say goodbye to dead wood. Some characters are connected to the original three ladies in a much more natural way. Other characters are kept on the show for unclear reasons.

The storylines of the three original ladies are also a bit boring. Miranda and Charlotte are apparently all about their kids. While their characters deserve to have their own storylines.

Fantasy
nmottel11 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
We could argue that the original Sex and the City depicted fantasy lives of young women in NYC. Indeed the city saw an influx of women looking for their own Mr. Big and drinking gallons of cosmos only to be defeated by reality. Very few lived the lifestyle of Carrie and friends. Such is the case with every episode of the sequal. Carrie hob nobs only with the very rich, Charlotte is raising entitled spoiled brats, Miranda is suddenly a dolt when it comes to handling life, Carrie wants to sell her apartment because wealthy Aiden can't abide being inside. And what an apartment she wishes to buy...four bedrooms! Has she lost her mind? And speaking of lost minds, Miranda, Charlotte, and Harry are okay that Lily is having sex with Brady. Would real New Yorkers be okay with this? Che has a new love interest wander in off the street with a box of kittens and Lisa is pregnant in designer clothes. What fun! No, how absurd to expect viewers to applaud these stories. Please, no season 3.

I think I'm done..
goopkat-177-80189411 August 2023
This episode was not only bland, but downright condescending to the viewer. It was soaked in odd elitist snobbery while still managing to make literally every woman character feel clingy, dumb, or just strange. I keep hoping this series will get better, but it's just not.

Miranda's role keeps getting more and more muddled. Aiden and Carrie feel totally disingenuous. Charlotte lacks the confidence that allowed her to previously get away with being both prude and cute, and Che is still almost impossible to warm up to, in spite of having been softened some. I do think Che is adorable, though.

I'm enjoying outfits and hair and not much else.

4 stars for continuing with annoying side characters and unsolicited sex
MidoriAi13 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wish when I'm 50+ years old I would be fabulous, with designer clothes, going every day to do my hair, nails, wearing heels, and of course, having random sex with people.

But I don't wish to go back to my old boyfriend and commit the same mistake from 10 years ago, no, from 30 years ago (or more): change everything for a man.

And we are talking about a man she cheated on with another man (Mr Big) that was the "love of her life", or as she put it on Charlotte's party "It was a wonderful marriage, he was a wonderful men", but, remember? Who treated her like garbage, didn't trust her, eventually married her and had a lovely and happy life living with him. I mean, who wouldn't??: they had money, they were working in jobs they love, no kids...

But no! Suddenly she couldn't stay alone for long and started idealizing the next (known and familiar) thing: Aidan. Suddenly HE was the one.

Well.. no. I remember many things about him that weren't a good match for her. Do you?

For me, Aidan was the one, but, again, FOR ME. He was too good for her.

Now, she wants to sell her old and lovely apartment FOR HIM. She's not doing it for the future, for her, for a change.. nop!! Is because Aidan has a problem with it.

She has enough money to buy whatever she wants... Seema show her a really nice (but TOO BIG) house and suddenly that's the one... no other house in NY city. She wants to buy it and sell her old apartment as I said, saying a lot of excuses to convince her friends (that are shocked to hear that) but more to convince herself.

I'm 24 minutes in, but I'm waiting for all this to blow up to her face, creating a good wait of a year for season 3: Carrie free and out and about NY city looking for men, like in season 1, but with no Samantha (Seema and all those annoying side characters aren't cutting it, we know it, you HBO know it, producers and director knows it, writers too. And what's up with her get up?? A painters trench with bad color full of painting stains?? She's skinny, why all those oversize clothes??)

And talking about Sam, it is obvious that that phone conversation they say is going to happen is going to take place at the end of this season. I bet you.

Anthony.... like, 5+ years and afraid to sleep with italian guy? Well, a va g i n a would acommodate what italian guy has to offer, not a b u t t ! So I get why he's "too shy"

I get why Charlotte thinks why Brady is not Lilly's type. He's u g l y and don't want to study.

Carrie saying that they having sex is like 2 of her stuff animals are having sex was funny hehe.

I don't know what's happening in MIranda's ex teacher's life. I was fast forwarding.

It was nice to see Elizabeth Taylor's portrait hanging in Charlotte's house. I remember her, I remember the episode when Char and Elizabeth met for the first time. It was nice. I miss that dog and I wish Charlotte wouldn't chose a bulldog instead (it is better to adopt, but you know... rich people)

Terribly unfunny comedian
bbraat25 February 2024
Che continues to be the least funny comedian in the world. She plays to sold-out rooms of 12 people for 3 minute sets and yet someone tried to give her a TV show. The audience never laughs but smiles at all her jokes that center around her being non-binary. Who says women aren't as good at stand-up comedy as men? Well, anyone who's had to sit through Che's insufferable routine.

At least she makes enough money as a receptionist at a Veterinarian's office to cover the rent on her (at least) $5,000 a month apartment. I didn't know unskilled receptionists in New York made that much. I wasted my money on my law degree.
