This remarkable soothing folk song in Irish Gaelic was a powerful hit back in the day due to its presence on the main titles from the minisseries "Harry's
Game" and it got rediscovered a decade later when it was featured in "Patriot Games" with Harrison Ford taking over the role of Jack Ryan, the CIA analyst fighting
global terrorism. The actual music video appears in the movie in the sequence of an IRA commander (played by Patrick Bergin) watching on TV as a raid against
him comes his way.
While the folk song deals with the pointlessness of war and violence, with Clannad evoking the Troubles in Ireland, the video presents small things that follow such effect. During the song performance, besides the lead singer being featured most prominently in two scenarios (a shattered house with lots of dirt and rubble; and later walking through amazingly beautiful natural landscapes by the sea), we also see the male vocals face on the foreground as military men and tanks appear in some shots. All the images are hauntingly beautiful and the song truly goes through your heart, even if you don't know the language and the words. It's beyond anything I've ever seen. 10/10.
