Turning the tables
Tweekums11 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The previous episode ended with Carrie being snatched from her house and taken, hooded, to see Majid Javadi; the man believed to be behind the CIA bombing. It isn't long before his attempt to recruit her switches to her trying to recruit him. With the knowledge the he has been stealing from the Iranian security services laid out he knows he can't return home… this should put him firmly in the CIA's pocket but he knows just how important he is so decides to take revenge for something that happened decades ago before being taken into CIA custody. Meanwhile Dana Brody has decided that she can't live her current life any more so decides to make some changes; including changing her surname.

After several episodes where not much really happened things pick up again here; the episode starts with fairly tense scenes as Saul and his team lose sight of Carrie and build to a shocking scene featuring a brutal double murder. All this made this feel like classic 'Homeland'… which to my mind is a good thing; the earlier more emotional drama wasn't bad but the sense of real threat here was much more exciting. There was still some of the more emotional drama in the scenes with Dana and her mother and some intrigue involving the soon to be Director of the CIA. Overall a fine episode; a real return to form.

The proof is in the pudding
alcorcrisan4 April 2021
Watching the entire series again, now, in April 2021, I cannot help wondering about Dana, as a character. Whoever had the idea of inventing her must have been rather sadistic, to say the least. She is by far the most annoying, irritating and obnoxious character I can think of. She embodies to perfection the current-day model of young people, claiming to care only for the general good, and who could not be bothered to give a damn about what disastrous consequences their actions can have on their closest relatives or friends. Posing as victims, they terrorise and turn into real victims everybody who is unfortunate enough to be around them.

More hard-bitten Carrie, less cry-face-schizo, equals best season 3 episode
liliesofdoom4 November 2013
Finally in this episode Homeland is returning to why I started watching it. Not once do you see Carrie-the-cry-face-schizo we've been seeing in the last few episodes, so it is not surprising that this is my favorite so far of the third season. True, that has been an integral thread in the plot from day one, but it was beginning to suffocate the clean tough-minded air of a good hard-boiled spy thriller. Because let's be clear, this is not, nor should it be, a show 'about' Carrie's illness. Rather, it is a kick-a** espionage cliffhanger. Whatever they have to do, they need to keep Carrie's mental problems as peripheral as possible. I almost jumped ship on the fourth episode of this season.

Finally, the old Homeland is back

Warning: Spoilers
Great episode! The best of the season so far. It gave us back the thrilling espionage Homeland was known for. Quinn is a hard ass character and I'm glad the writers are using him. He has some amazing lines. It was nice to see Dana leaving - I hope that means we won't see that often anymore. It was also great to testify Saul's rage - he has always been so stoic - and what that meant as a whole. Claire Danes gave an amazing performance this week, as usual, and I think Carrie's back on track. The second half of Homeland's Season 3 just started and it looks on fire! I'm really looking forward to next week's episode. I'm waiting to see how Brody is going to come back to the story and I hope the writers already have something in mind.

Disappointing Homeland season 3
ajay_20135 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Am I the only one believing that the season 3 has been a disappointment and series is losing its touch. It is looking like a never ending soap opera. The Brody is completely in the sidelines and has been shown in just one Episode and there are ten parallel tracks going on simultaneously: Carrie pregnancy, Brody family, CIA directorship, Iran saga,Brody himself, Carrie family, sol family etc etc. I am just hoping all these tracks will merge and finally lead to some very interesting final episodes in this season. As of now every episode has disappointed me. Hopefully something adventurous will happen in next few episodes else will have to skip in from next season
