Unfolding Drama in the Heart of Salem In the bustling world of Days of Our Lives, intrigue and mystery never seem to rest. This week, as hinted in earlier episodes, Everett played a rather unexpected card with Stephanie, sparking confusion and suspense amongst viewers and characters alike. Despite recent developments suggesting that Everett’s divorce was a done deal, he threw alongside the supposed finalized papers his seemingly conclusive intentions. It was here we learned not just the remnants of his bond with Jada but also something deeper and more perplexing with Stephanie. I felt deeply connected to Stephanie’s character when

Jason Blum now has his hands on The Blair Witch Project, and a big screen reboot is on the way: more here.
By this stage, we can tick the popular horror franchises off as they take their place in the reboot queue. At the time of writing, The First Omen is in cinemas. We’ve had Scream reboots, a new Salem’s Lot is (finally) on the way, and decisions are being made as to the next direction for The Exorcist. Now? Let’s add The Blair Witch Project to the pile, a series that thus far covers three films, the last of which came from Adam Wingard back in 2016.
Lionsgate and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse company have just been working together on the release of Jeff Wadlow’s Imaginary, and now they’ve inked a fresh deal to oversee a new Blair Witch film. Likely lots of new Blair Witch films.

It's about time for Eric Brady to get the Salem Brain.
His obliviousness to blatant lies and manipulations has gone beyond being a tired soap opera trope. It's a joke at this point!
On Days of Our Lives during the week of 3-18-24, Sloan tries to bar Nicole from the christening ceremony despite Nicole hosting the reception. If that doesn't wake Eric up, nothing will.
The Sloan story has dragged on for far too long. It would be one thing if her malevolence were subtle, but it's anything but.
Sloan complains that Eric puts the baby's needs before hers, freaks out whenever she crosses paths with Leo or Nicole, and drinks entire bottles of wine in minutes to deal with her stress. How can Eric possibly think this is a simple case of Sloan needing to adjust to motherhood?
Unfortunately, those lies probably won't be undone any time soon,...

The new adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot is no longer getting a theatrical release. Originally scheduled to debut in theaters way back in September 2022, New Line has now confirmed it will stream on Max instead.
The announcement didn’t include a premiere date but did state that it’s expected to arrive on streaming in 2024.
“Author Ben Mears returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire,” reads New Line’s synopsis. The cast is led by Lewis Pullman as Ben Mears and includes Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody, Makenzie Leigh as Susan Norton, and Bill Camp as Matthew Burke.
Spencer Treat Clark plays Mike Ryerson, Pilou Asbæk is Straker, and John Benjamin Hickey is Father Callahan.

What happened to Sloan on Days of our Lives? That’s a question on Day’s fans’ minds after the hit Peacock soap did a switcheroo with the actress playing Sloan.
Jessica Serfaty has played legal eagle and troublemaker Sloan Peterson since the character hit Salem in 2022.
However, today’s Days of our Lives episode pulled a fast one on fans with a new actress in the role.
The only information given to viewers was a voiceover announcing that Natasha Hall is now playing the character.
Then it was business as usual, with Sloan now taking over Tate’s (Jamie Martin Mann) case because of Theresa (Emily O’Brien) and her new brilliant idea to help her son.
So why the sudden change in who’s playing Sloan on the hit daytime drama?
Let’s take a look at what we know.

Recently, the buzz around Hollywood is that WB/ Discovery is getting ready to take a massive $115 million write-down in content. Coyote vs Acme seems all but certain to be deleted, but apparently that’s not the only piece of content the company may be on the verge of scrapping. Indeed, the long-delayed adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot has been in limbo for a long time now, and many fans are wondering when (or if) the axe is going to fall.
How did we get here?

Update: Will Forte has an update about the shelved Coyote vs. Acme movie that could make you feel like you’ve run face-first into a fake tunnel painted on a mountainside. WB executives killed the film in November, leading to social media outrage from cinephiles tired of seeing higher-ups scrap films in favor of a tax cut and other “benefits.” Forte knows people’s anger toward Warner’s decision to shelve Coyote vs. Acme and has some words to add to the ongoing conversation.
In a social media post this morning, Forte said, “I know that a lot of you haven’t gotten a chance to see our movie. And sadly, it’s a looking like you never will.” Forte also says that when he heard the film was getting deleted, he had yet to see it.

Diego Boneta is set to lead the newly greenlit bilingual series El Gato (w/t), based on the comic book series El Gato Negro by Richard Dominguez. Production is anticipated to begin this spring in Mexico.
Boneta was previously attached to a project based on the same comic book titled El Gato Negro: Nocturnal Warrior from MGM Television and Mark Burnett in 2019 that stalled.
In El Gato, Boneta will play Frank Guerrero, the black sheep of his family, who finds himself at the center of a vast conspiracy when he discovers his father was the titular ‘70s vigilante. Frank, who returns home to Mexico after the death of his father and finds himself neck-deep in a nest of vipers – his estranged family – who are vying for control of his father’s business empire.

Stephen King is calling out Warner Bros. for holding off on releasing Salem’s Lot, which had been set to release in 2023.
The horror book author took to social media to share his thoughts and update his followers that he had seen the film and was pleased with it.
“Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new Salem’S Lot and it’s quite good,” King shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff.”
He continued, “Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the fucking things.”

Some love to chill with an old familiar rom-com, while others prefer witnessing Liam Neeson ruthlessly hunt people down for the sake of revenge. For those in the latter category, consider making Seraphim Falls your latest comfort watch. The 2006 film stars Neeson as a former Civil War colonel who’s on a mission to take down a disgraced officer — played by Ireland’s favorite James Bond, Pierce Brosnan.
In the style of an old-fashioned Western, the allegorical film follows the war vets as they duke it out across the American West. Seraphim Falls was the feature directorial debut of television director David Von Ancken, who died in 2021. It was co-written by Von Ancken and Abby Everett Jaques.

When Steve Burton left the role of General Hospital’s Jason Morgan in 2021 over the network’s Covid vaccine mandate, he was open to whatever came next. “One of the biggest lessons that anyone can learn, I feel, is control what you can control and let go of the things that you can’t,” he explains. “I don’t let a lot of external things dictate my emotional state. I’m just trying to be a better man, a better dad, just better.” As it turns out, Burton wasn’t unemployed long. After he exited Gh, Days of Our Lives, where he started his daytime career in 1988, reached out to him to play Harris Michaels again. “I do believe that when one door closes, other doors do open,” Burton offers. “And it was true. Waitress composer Sara Bareilles and Pulitzer finalist playwright Sarah Ruhl are teaming up on a stage musical adaptation of Meg Wolitzer’s bestselling 2013 novel The Interestings.
Bareilles is composing the music and lyrics, while Ruhl writes the book. Matt Ross is producing.
Wolitzer’s novel, as the official synopsis states, tells the story of six teenagers who meet at summer camp in the 1970s and form a lifelong bond over their shared dream of leading creative and inspiring lives. Decades later in New York City, that bond remains powerful, but so much else has changed. The Interestings traces their lives as they grow together and apart to explore friendship, love, envy, class, art, money, and power; and how all of it can shift and tilt precipitously over the course of a friendship and a life.

Sony’s Screen Gems, behind recent horror movies including Insidious: The Red Door, The Pope’s Exorcist and The Invitation, is looking to make an even bigger mark on the horror space, The Hollywood Reporter informs us tonight. On that note, they’ve signed Gary Dauberman (Salem’s Lot) to a first-look deal for the purposes of developing feature films in the genre.
THR notes, “The move comes as Sony seeks to rebuild Screen Gems, its division focused on lower-budgeted fare, into a more productive label, with horror being a top focus.”
As part of the deal, Gary Dauberman is said to be “creating projects for himself,” while also “curating a slate featuring established and up-and-coming filmmakers.”
“Involved in some of the biggest horror franchises in the last 10 years, Gary has an extraordinary ability to create and build out terrifying worlds and create a visceral experience through thoughtfully crafted story and characters,...

As TV academy voters fill out their 2023 Emmy Awards nominations ballots, they will have to consider 163 shows for Best Drama Series. This is only down by eight compared to last year. After six years of not having to limit their choices in any categories, members can now not let their selections exceed the number of eventual nominations for a given award, which will be eight in this case.
2020 and 2022 champ “Succession” is in the hunt for its third win in this category and will potentially only have to fend off two of its seven rivals from last year. “Better Call Saul” and “Yellowjackets” returned in time to meet the eligibility window of June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023, while “Euphoria,” “Severance,” “Squid Game,” and “Stranger Things” did not. The last remaining 2022 contender, “Ozark,” officially finished its four-season run last April. Also back in the running are former winners “The Handmaid’s Tale” (2017) and “The Crown” (2021).

Exclusive: French director Jean-Bernard Marlin made waves in Cannes Critics’ Week in 2018 with Marseille-set feature debut Shéhérazade about the relationship between a young prostitute and an underage ex-convict who becomes her pimp.
The film went on to win best first film alongside most promising actress and actor for Kenza Fortas and Dylan Robert at the 2019 edition of France’s César awards.
Marlin returns to Cannes this year with his second feature Salem which world premieres in Un Certain Regard.
Like Shéhérazade, the feature captures the reality of Marseille’s notoriously crime and poverty-ridden northern quarters with a documentary approach but differs in that Marlin has added a layer of fantasy to the tale.
“I don’t invent anything in what I am showing, but at the same time, this film is a work of the imagination. It’s an allegory, with dreamlike and fantasy qualities,” says Marlin.

The Strays is a thriller movie written and directed by Nathaniel Martello-White starring Ashley Madekwe.
The Strays appears to be a classic tv film with an actress that has been in hundreds of these and, however, the film has a look and theme that is more film centered close to Don´t Worry Darling or Us (the Jordan Peele movie) in its subject, although it is more English in its aesthetics.
Movie Review The Strays (2023)
This movie poses interesting considerations in a thriller, a little like the “new horror” of Peele, with intrigue that basically revolves around a greater vindication, which is entertainment in the form of a nightmare in English suburbia.
However, the great director with his ironies and suspense formulas is absent in this pic. Here the suspense is more horror and the intentions posed in the first third of the movie (especially in the look of the...

If you love “Junebug,” the 2005 indie that launched Amy Adams’ career, then you probably felt at the time as film critic Jan Stuart did. He’s quoted on the poster as saying, “It is only a matter of time before [director] Phil Morrison achieves the status of Jim Jarmusch, Gus Van Sant, and Woody Allen.” Well, that prediction never really came to pass. Morrison made one more feature, then turned his attention to commercials. Meanwhile, the film’s screenwriter, Angus MacLachlan, has slowly but surely emerged as an auteur of authentic stories representing the American South.
MacLachlan’s third film as director (and the first to be selected for Sundance featuring him in that role), “A Little Prayer” shares much of the sensibility — and sensitivity — that made “Junebug” so special. Once again, he’s written a modestly scaled but deep-reaching relationship drama about a white middle-class North Carolina family that believes in God,...

Honesty is always the best policy, but what soap opera could survive if its characters realized that?
Several truth bombs hit Salem on Days of Our Lives during the week of 1-16-23, effectively ending blackmail schemes but leaving plenty of problems in their wake.
Among the best news: Brady actually disciplined his bratty daughter. He wasn't forceful enough, but at least he tried to impress on her that she doesn't get to talk to Chloe any way she feels like.
If Brady had been honest with Rachel long ago, it would have prevented so many problems. It's nice that he didn't want to interfere with her relationship with Kristen, but he didn't do her any favors by pretending that Kristen was a decent human being.
[Rachel sees Brady and Chloe hugging.]
Rachel: You! Get away from my daddy!
Brady: Rachel. You will not talk to her that way, okay? Chloe has done nothing wrong.
