Now that we've established the "how", it's time the determine the "why"...
moonspinner555 April 2015
Writer-director Kristina Borjesson has assembled a fascinating, frustrating, anger-causing documentary on TWA Flight 800, the ill-fated Boeing 747-100 which, in 1996, exploded over the shores of Long Island just minutes after takeoff from JFK Airport en route to Paris, France. Borjesson is very careful not to immediately point fingers and declare a massive government cover-up (in the interest of a juicy exposé; we're all fascinated by conspiracies). Instead, she establishes a cover-up with her evidence. TWA Flight 800 was very clearly shot down by three separate missiles, all deliberately launched in order to take that plane down. The FBI, the CIA and the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) each concluded there was no external foul play involved in the crash, that the internal problem was located in the plane's center fuel tank (it even says so on the memorial!). After viewing the witness testimonials and evidence, one can see this is utter nonsense. The underlying horror of this film is the fact the nightly news (via the powers-that-be) is giving falsified reports to the public--and the public is asked to believe every word of it because, after all, these guys are the experts. *** from ****

WHY ? Why cover up ?
vlefaive12 December 2013
Man...Astonishing documentary alleges seriously that the U.S. government-including the FBI and DOJ-are corrupt and cover-up the truth concerning the mysterious crash of TWA Ft 800 on July 17, 1996.

Flight 800 was possibly destroyed by a surface-to-air missile or missiles. Every allegation made in this film is backed up with facts also dramatic are those that come from the Federal agencies themselves.

Shared is what hundreds ( more than 700 ) official eyewitnesses actually saw; why aviators reject the CIA "cartoon" explanation; how the Feds criminally suppressed reporting; the damning radar data and documentation; the critical witness drawings; the rigged NTSB hearings; the altered physical evidence; undeniable proof of explosive residue proving a missile strike; the stinging report from the machinist union. What I want to know ? WHY ? WHY ? WHY ?

More FBI lies?
embmw30 August 2019
I'm a huge fan of documentaries in general but I usually stay from this type because the producers are typically pushing their own theory, which is often just plain silly (take the 9/11 conspiracy advocates for example). But that's not the case here-- this film simply exposes a number of very troubling issues with the investigation of Flight 800.

We know that the FBI lied about certain aspects of the Branch Davidian tragedy in Texas and here we have several long-time NTSB investigators telling us that the FBI concealed and/or "disappeared" evidence, and that a number of FBI agents were caught tampering with evidence. One has to wonder why.

One eyewitness describes telling her story to FBI agents, who then reveal that they know she has applied for US citizenship and advise her that she should not mention what she saw to anyone if she wants her application to be approved. *If* she's telling the truth then the FBI had done a background check on her *before* getting her witness statement. Why would the FBI run a background check before the fact on a witness to an air disaster? Other witnesses claim to have been intimidated as well. Again, why?

It's entirely possible that the plane really was brought down by a fuel tank explosion, but that in the earlier stages of the investigation the FBI thought the cause was something they/the US government wanted to conceal. This documentary doesn't push its own theory of the cause so much as it seems to expose a huge number of irregularities in the investigation. If even a few of the claims made within are true the already heavily discredited FBI looks even worse. Considering the FBI's abject failures in the intervening years it's not difficult to believe that the Bureau was playing politics here as well.

Unfortunately, this film provides more questions than answers, but credit to the producers for not working backward from their own theory and instead simply giving investigators and witnesses a chance to be heard. Sure, it's obvious that the producers don't buy the official explanation for the crash so the film is made from that perspective, but the government had its say in hearings (while apparently suppressing alternate views & evidence), so this piece of work offers an interesting counterpoint.

See it for yourself and see if it doesn't leave you wondering why the FBI has "botched" so many highly political investigations in the past few decades.

Utterly Damning.

Warning: Spoilers
I had heard a few weeks ago that a number of investigators of the Flight 800 disaster had come out publicly about their "reservations" about the official conclusions of the NTSB investigation. I did not, however, realize that there was a documentary that had been made, detailing the substance of those "reservations". Serendipity, and perhaps Fate, led me to be searching my DVR for something to watch at 3 am, whereupon I chanced to see this title. Hmmmm...

*** Spoiler Alert? *** This documentary is unique, as far as I know, in its inclusion of high-level technical officials involved in an actual investigation, giving very specific details (technical and otherwise) of a cover-up as it happened. For this alone is this film compelling in the extreme.

In addition to this, the broad cross-section of eyewitness accounts, technical data, and media footage demonstrates convincingly that not only did Flight 800 *not* explode due to a center wing tank anomaly, but that 3 (yes, *three*) different plumes/flares/etc. were witnessed by multiple (i.e. **many**) witnesses interacting with the doomed airliner, eyewitness accounts which were excluded from the NTSB investigation, an apparently unique circumstance, according to the seasoned investigators. Also, the investigators' assertions of very specific pieces of evidence and analyses which simply "disappeared" from or were plainly modified at the closed investigation hangar are greatly disturbing. Finally, the skew of the media coverage of the event and investigation relative to the asserted facts is impossible to discount as merely "reportage of the story".

The final and most explosive (pun intended) evidence in the sickening array of exposed lies is the radar return immediately after the explosion of the plane showing fragments at a distance which are consistent *only* with a velocity of about Mach 4 (~3000 mi/h), a velocity which could not be reached by anything other than a rocket or a high-explosive detonation.

In a larger context, this unique exposition of official skullduggery, malfeasance, and frankly, Evil, should hopefully shake the cobwebs loose from a new contingent of the un-awake sheeple enough to begin to make them question *other* as-yet-unsatisfactorily-explained "disasters". Such as World Trade Center Building 7.

Just another crime in a long list of crimes by our government
jackwolf5 November 2013
This documentary on the TWA 800 air disaster provides more than enough evidence to cast doubt on the official investigation and the ludicrous explanation that was made up out of thin air to explain why this fully loaded airliner ended up in the Atlantic Ocean.

Anyone who has studied the TWA 800 event already knows that the official conclusion is completely absurd. Apparently we're to believe that a faulty wire caused the central fuel tank to explode. Yes, the FBI, CIA, and much of our government thinks the average citizen is actually dumb enough to accept this ridiculously implausible and unsubstantiated conclusion. Unfortunately much of the population accepted it without question and moved on with their lives, unaware of the treasonous and deceitful cover- up that was conducted by persons within the FBI, CIA, and NTSB.

Missiles brought that plane down. The citizens demand to know why!

This research librarian is convinced
happy_in_side13 November 2013
I'm a research librarian who teaches information literacy to college students. Information literacy is essentially how to find, evaluate, and use credible information. There is such an onslaught of bogus information out there that it's sometimes hard to know what's actually true. One way is to look at primary source documents such as video, photographs, interviews and original research conducted at the time of events. Those involved with this documentary went to great lengths through such means as Freedom of Information Act lawsuits, to gather together primary source documents that, when viewed together with expert testimony from those directly involved in the original investigation, create a much more plausible scenario than the official findings released by the FBI and NTSB.

I would be highly suspicious of one-star reviews stating things like "Opinions predominate, facts are scarce." I'm someone trained to know the difference and I can say quite confidently that this is not a "conspiracy film" based on innuendo and the convictions of those who hate and distrust the Federal Government. This is a well-researched documentary that asks us to consider an alternative conclusion to the one presented by the FBI and NTSB...a conclusion based on the actual evidence. I for one am convinced and I hope this film will generate enough public outcry to force the NTSB and FBI to reopen the investigation or at the very least, be more forthcoming about their actual findings.

I find it very interesting...
gllwolf5823 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
One review on here takes the approach that "opinions predominate, facts are scarce." And yet in this "review", the author states, "It is clear that evidence that disproves the conspiracy theory is edited out." Nice opinion, but what facts are you saying are left out? He does not say. Cute.

He continues, "Eye witnesses are presented as completely credible when research has shown that they are almost the least reliable evidence." Again, what research? You state none. I've read the eye witness accounts, separate from this film. When hundreds of people all see the same thing happen, from various vantage points, that makes them THE reliable evidence of what transpired. Not your phantom "research".

Next comes the assertion that "body language indicates they are lying". Based upon what? You just typing it on a forum board makes what you say credible? Hardly. In the interviews, some look to be uncomfortable. But is that an indication of lying, or of recalling of a singular traumatic experience that may just haunt these people still? Again, not saying what I say is 100% accurate, but I am saying your take on their body language is from their lying is 100% false.

In the end, you have a film that paints a very disturbing portrait of a government investigation that is lead by the wrong agency. That agency is not qualified to investigate the crash/explosion/loss of a commercial airliner. I also found it odd that the person in charge of the agency who should of been leading the investigation, hints that eyewitnesses were not called to testify before the government because that was part of the "FBI's criminal investigation". "Criminal investigation"? If it was an "accident", what crime could there have been? No, someone wanted this investigation "handled". My only problem with this documentary is the neglect of the possibilities as to "why" things happened. If it was a missile(s) then who shot them? If it were terrorists why cover it up? We'd already had a terroristic attack on our soil, so its not like it was the first time. The question that comes to my mind, is who was on the plane, and who didn't want them to leave the country? If it had had that, then you can say it was a conspiracy theory. As it stands, this movie is nothing more than a showing of the goofs, misdeeds, lies or utter stupidity of those whose job it wasn't to investigate this incident and the way they botched it.

Been saying it for years. The alphabet gangs can't be trusted.
Stewatson3517 May 2022
The ATF, the FBI and even the CIA all involved themselves in this disaster where a "dr fauxci" style man gives evidence to Congress about 800 eyewitnesses all being wrong!

This documentary shows that the people who are supposed to be looking after your own interests, are actively fighting against the truth to keep the country - and world - in the dark as to what really happened.

Way too many commercial flights just disappear. Something has to be done about this.

The government still denies the eyewitnesses accounts. All 800 of them.

They'd use eyewitness testimony in just about any other case. 🤷‍♂️ Go figure.

Cherry-picked data to support conspiracy
salmon6219 November 2013
I wanted to believe that the scientist (physicist) who produced this documentary was right. I knew the official cause of the explosion, but always wondered if there had been something more menacing involved. This documentary is compelling.

The problem is that the producer cherry-picks data and omits other data to support his hypothesis that a missile or similar rocket brought down the aircraft. In forming scientific hypotheses, the scientist is required to include all possible alternatives to results supporting his/her hypothesis.

In TWA Flight 800 we hear all sorts of speculation from the producer and his witnesses. Together, the story presented is credible----- that a missile (described specifically by dozens of eye-witnesses on the ground) brought down Flight 800, and, that the government----- the FBI, NTSB, and DOD conspired to conclude that the cause was an explosion in the center wing fuel tank of the plane. The producer presents "chemical splatter" evidence on pieces of the recovered plane, explosive residue found on the parts, and variable injuries to passengers in different parts of the plane as evidence of an external explosive.

Unfortunately, the producer fails to include in his documentary a very telling recorded comment (on the cockpit recorder) by the pilot about an inaccurate "crazy" reading of the fuel gauge of the #4 engine. This is critical because the NTSB speculated that the explosion was caused by an ignition source---probably fuel gauge sensor or (similarly located) wiring degradation/malfunction..

In addition, the producer omits that there were previous center wing fuel tank explosions caused by the ignition of gas vapors in Boeing products, Avianca and Philippine Airlines for starters. These prior events are not referenced. This is critical because on the day of the crash of Flight 800, the plane was delayed over an hour with the air conditioning units running due to the hot weather. The units are located under the center wing fuel tank and would have contributed to the vapor buildup. This is what happened in the Philippine Airlines explosion, which occurred on the ground with the engines off.

The producers do include that the plane was supposedly used for police canine training where explosive residues were used to train the police dogs on the plane at the airport, but he tries to refute that this training exercise took place as documented, casting doubt on the source of explosive residues from a benign source. Instead, he omits that the jet was used in 1991 to transport military equipment and troops exposed to explosive residue from the Gulf.

Once I learned of these omissions, I could not believe anything the movie asked me to believe.

While the official report can't say "with certainty" that the wiring in the center wing fuel tank caused the explosion, it does show significant evidence that this is the likely source of the ignition.

As for the hundreds of well-meaning witnesses who believed that they saw a missile streaking up and striking the plane, well, all I can say is that eyewitness accounts are the LEAST reliable evidence.

Once you look at other sources of information about the crash of flight 800, it is apparent that the likely scenario is the same as what was presented by the NTSB after four years of exhaustive investigation.

Watch this and decide for yourself
imdb-499213 November 2013
Thank you to the courageous Americans who are putting their reputation on the line to bring up the lies we were told about TWA flight 800. Watch out for "reviewers" who attack the documentary with the intent to discourage people from watching it and coming to their own conclusions. I recall watching a retired Air Force Pilot who went on CSPAN debunk this "center fuel tank explosion" theory years ago, and he was a credible as any person I've listened to. That was when I first realized (sadly I admit) that our government lies to us and that they cannot be trusted. I am a psychologist and I'm frightened at how psychology was referenced by the government to imply that eye witness testimony is so unreliable as a means to discredit hundreds of eye witnesses to what was a very basic event (little details to get mixed up). Listen to the eye witnesses in this documentary and see for yourself if they seem credible. I've watched lots of documentaries and I don't often agree with them because I think they don't provide all of the details or distort the facts. I also look for who has an agenda to push. I see no ulterior motives with those who are interviewed for this movie. I just recommend that you watch it for yourself, and if it's your first exposure to how easily our government lies to its citizens, be prepared to be discouraged (and hopefully motivated to make some changes).

We're not surprised anymore to find out our government is run by psychopaths
baj841214 April 2019
I just saw this flick on Pluto TV. I thought it was a great documentary about all the evidence tampering and ignoring of eye witnesses to the demise of Flight 800 off the coast of Long Island, NY. The question is why????? Why did missiles shoot this plane out of the sky. Who shot the missiles and why did the CIA and the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) go to so much trouble to inject false information and make sure the truth was never told. We all knew the CIA was lying about what happened to JFK and JFK, Jr., now we can add this tragedy to the list of their lies. The most amazing part of this flick is preventing the numerous eye witnesses from testifying at the four-year long investigation into the plane crash. The film is a good expose of how psychopaths who run our government contrive the official story. Jason Goodman, an internet reporter, has a frequent guest named David Hawkins who reverse engineers crime scenes by studying patents that could be involved in or leased for committing crimes. Hawkins believes a reason these sort of events happen is because bored, wealthy, global elite psychos bet on how long it will take to kill everyone and / or how many people will survive. According to Hawkins, these psychos consider the demise of Flight 800 or the demolition of the twin towers on 911 to be a "snuff film" which they can watch and re-watch to get their jollies. .

Great documentary on a real US coverup
Erik_Stone1 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Only two real possibilities: Either the US Government intentional hit the plane with missiles or accidentally hit it with missiles. Either way, Clinton had to have it covered up for his re-election the next year.

A couple things that make this not a conspiracy theory in any way: The obvious lies from the FBI and Kallstrom, it was the CIA that got involved and made a ridiculous government video, Clinton was president, lots of credible eyewitness testimony, Jim Hall says this is an "honest investigation" with fervor, the news media lies are every other sentence, Richard Bott (Navy) literally chokes on his words.

Personally, I think it was intentional.

It was probably a kill order from Clinton on a US spy or spies that had info on the Clintons. The Navy was used as a tool and the Navy thought it was a training op of some sort, and then Clinton had his FBI cronies mop up the mess. Once word was still getting out, he enlisted the CIA more directly to make it seem like an external coverup, instead of an internal hit. When that didn't work he just had the NTSB reach a malfunction verdict. Case closed.

We might find out in another decade or so if documents ever get declassified, but my guess is that Clinton had those documents shredded, like his wife had her emails disappeared.

djburnham24 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I disagree with the directors political views, but feel this documentary has important factual evidence.

I would like to see someone investigate who was on that flight that could have been a target. When 200 or so witnesses report missiles launched from 3 different locations in rapid succession all at one plane, in a sky filled with planes, says something other than accident or terrorist. Coordination like that, with miles between the 3 launch sites, says that one flight was the target.

Someone thought the expense and mass murder was worth shooting that plane down.

Conspiracy theory nonsense
rwmj14 July 2019
I accidentally downloaded this and watched the first bit. The flight blew up because of a spark in one of the tanks, ie. a terrible engineering failure. That would have been an interesting documentary. Unfortunately this documentary tries to make it out as some kind of conspiracy, and is utter nonsense.

First of all several of the "investigators" supposedly attached to the investigator of this accident were never attached to the investigation. that is lie number one.

The "documentary" is filled with falsehoods, misdirection, red herrings and strawman arguments.

It is a craven attempt to make money off of the families of the dead -- that is disgusting

They got it right!
speddwayj21 June 2023
I am 61 years old and have seen the progression of corruption within the FBI and our justice department and all its subsidiaries all my life, starting with the JFK assassination . And the media's complicity in it all too. I watched this documentary today 6/20/23 and the hair stood up on the back of my neck, you can see the same similarities of all these agencies MO of how they are covering up for the Biden crime family, and then what they're doing to conservatives, along with the same media complicity. They have all been doing this for decades, and computers and the world wide web and the information age for the last two decades have peeled it all back and exposed it for what it is. We have been able to sidestep the media and government that was spoon feeding Americans for decades upon decades of only what they wanted us to know and perceive. My hats off and my heart goes out to all the people that helped make this documentary because for the most part they got it right! God bless you , and all the Souls that were lost on flight 800.

Conspiracy Theory
rmgaspar-49er20 July 2021
The fascinating thing is not the theory - with cherry picked information - but how conspiracy theory films always have lots of people rating (watching) and high grades. Conspiracy fans are into things more than average viewers. So, depending where you are in this scale, you'll enjoy it or not.

All innuendo
ghigau27 August 2013
Opinions predominate, facts are scarce. Like all conspiracy films, this one sets out to prove a point. It is clear that evidence that disproves the conspiracy theory is edited out. Interview clips are edited to make opinions seems certain, or that doubt is evidentiary proof! Someone did not do a test, so that proves they were covering up something. Eye witnesses are presented as completely credible when research has shown that they are almost the least reliable evidence. The body language of many of the interviewees strongly indicates that they are lying. I wonder if any was subject to a polygraph test? I doubt they would pass.

The proof is like the proof that Nicole Brown Simpson was killed by drug dealers. A possibility that is not disproved does not mean the possibility is fact. Space aliens could have shot down Flight 800!!!

Except they didn't.

"What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence."
