Instant Classic
guylevi3 April 2024
Hilarious. This one will be a classic. Highly quotable, with Seinfeld-like new terms. Leon was on fire, Susie was on fire. Jeff was understated but so funny. And of course Larry, with his usual shenanigans, fighting with the whole world. Leon's exchange with Larry's lawyer was super funny..

I liked how they weaved several story lines, and of course, it all comes together at the end. The build up to the Atlanta trial, throughout the season was well done.

One more to go until the finale.. Definitely gonna miss this show. 20 something years on and off, and with Seinfeld over 30. Thank you Larry David.

Larry vs Susie
jjconstantin1 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Do not listen to 1/10 review. This episode was hilarious from beginning to end. The interaction between Larry and Susie was classic mud slinging, no prisoners being taken. Susie Essman was on fire with Larry and I am sure avid fans of seeing them together in this interaction will agree. And having the Boss on was genius. Larry goes from one spectrum to the other in one episode. You can do all the good things in the world but doing one bad thing tarnishes you forever. Larry shows in part his true colors when confronted with the past. I have never given up on Curb and I am sorry to see it be the final season. This year seems like either you love this season or not. People, every season cannot be the same!!! There has to be obviously some differences, there lies the appreciation of it.

Warning: Spoilers
All you little babies criticizing this episode. GFY! This episode was just epic. Agree that the last 2 episodes were weak, but... what's not to like with this one? It has THE BOSS, Cheryl realizing that Larry never really loved her, classic Leon jokes, the final declaration of hate between Susie and Larry, a mob wanting to kill LD, LARRY HAVING TO ADMIT THAT HE SLEPT WITH A (PRESENT) DUDE, etc. Etc.

This episode just makes me feel the sadness of knowing next week is gonna be the end. Considering that it's been a frequent gag the role of Larry in Seinfeld ending, I'm expecting a big "meta" move in the end.

Can't wait.

Episode 1209

Warning: Spoilers
We are at the penultimate episode and this is what we get?

I am glad Matt Berry finally appeared on the show, maybe a thank you for a Larry David cameo on Toast of Tinseltown, but it doesn't matter. He was funny in his brief spot, but it was way too toned down. Leon is allowed to talk about smut nonstop, but they don't let Berry do it when he has played those characters on all his shows?

The transgender element felt dated and boring and Bruce Springsteen's cameo was really awkward.

Definitely not the worst of the season, but I feel like the show could have done so much better than this for sure.

Probably the Worst Season of Curb Yet
MamadNobari972 April 2024
So Curb Your Enthusiasm is my favorite comedy show. Even after watching The Office and Always Sunny, it's still the best one for me and if I had to choose only one show to watch for the rest of my life, it would probably be this.

So the show till at least season 9 or 10 (I still loved 10) was a masterpiece and on par with the show's peak. But season 11 and 12 are just not it. And I don't think I've seen so many meh and mid episodes in any seasons before, not even the previous one!

Not only the situations they've written for this season are not as funny and genius as the early seasons and those iconic episodes, everything feels fake and lazy. And I get it, "Weel, obviously it's a TV show so it's scripted!". Well, yeah. But Curb was at its best when they just outlined what the scene was gonna be about and the actors just went with the flow and improvised every line of dialogue. This season just feels phony and forced and just not as funny.

I chuckled at some of the stuff in this episode, but they weren't as laugh out loud funny like it used to be. I only rated episode 3 of this season highly, and everything before and after that have been meh. I think the overall rating of this season from the episodes for me has been a 6, even considering I gave episode 3 a 9/10. A 6/10 season is a pretty sad rating for a 10/10 show that I deem my favorite comedy ever.

Not to mention them using the same voiced lines again and again when Larry's mouth isn't even moving and adding lines in edit after they shoot the scenes. It's so obvious and forced. Curb was funny when it didn't feel so overly edited and scripted.

As for the episode itself, like I said, there are some funny lines here and there, but the situational comedy isn't really there. The amount of chaos Larry would create at the end of each episode back then were funny because how unexpected and ridiculous they were. Now, you won't even remember half the plotlines or the ending an hour after watching the episode.

It's just such a shame. Curb is still my favorite comedy, I'll have to rewatch to confirm that this is in fact the funniest show compared to Always Sunny at least. But it's just sad seeing such a genuinely funny show with genius writing and iconic ending scenes, end with such a letdown of a final season.

Don't get me wrong, this episode isn't unwatchable or totally unfunny or anything, it's just not like it used to be and doesn't feel as natural.

Also, what a waste of Jackie Daytona. Daytona would've been an iconic character of Curb if he was in previous seasons.

Even The Boss can't save this enfeebled melange of retreads...
wiredranch1 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Well, the good news is Larry isn't dead (sadly Richard and his parakeet are) and that we only have one more episode to endure.

Happy ending? Asian masseuse with accent as subtle as Mickey Rooney's? Wasn't that done before with the star-tattooed woman and the Asian fortune-teller reported the abbreviated handy to Cheryl? (WHOOSH!)

Woman to man sex change - with the hilarious complications entailed. Didn't Chaz Bono break a watch and start a fire with his new equipment? Which was forced humor but light years ahead of the supposed floor-hooking up argued here.

The Covid plot was done better with Albert Brooks' hoarding and seems at least 3 years too late (Springsteen's real health issues put a damper on what little humor is involved). Larry's inadvertent heroism of the water bottle was better played on the airplane when he tripped on his shoelaces. The director he hates story was much better with Michael McKean or even the Everybody Loves Raymond guy.

Cheryl - who was once, long ago, such a nice balance to LD - has become the new Susie. Her anger may have been justified when Larry did her sister but her barging in nowadays, her look and demeanor now add up to "repugnant".

Susie, Jeff and especially Leon are like Seinfeld's belated realization of the "HellOOO" - so played!

It all just seems so tired. Big name stars (Buscemi! Conan! Springsteen!!!) don't matter when the storyline and improv are so lame.

Sadly, like Larry in Leon's eyes, this show has become ENFEEBLED!

Lifestyles of the Smug and Privileged
PurpleProseOfCairo1 April 2024
This is by far the worst episode ever. I have defended Curb from all the recent attacks, claims that it has deteriorated beyond repair and is at the end of its shelf life. I can see where people are coming from now.

The scenarios are now so tired, predictable and contrived, and the circle jerk of guests gets wider and wider (Springsteen in this episode, for God's sake). You could tolerate the bad acting and wooden direction when it was funny. Take away the humour and all that's left is an embarrassing mess. And how do they get away with always depicting Asian people in that manner? Larry is going through the motions in this final series - hope he enjoys cashing the cheque.

Unmitigated trash
dad-don1 April 2024
At one time, CYE was funny. That is no longer true. In fact, if the negative of "funny" could be quantified, CYE would qualify for a high spot.

The latest episode (Ken/Kendra) falls in that negative territory.

What an insult to whatever audience is left!

I have given up on Larry David's nightmare. Nothing currently is in the same league as, say..."Palestinian Chicken," I will not be wasting a half hour on Sunday evening watching this piece of garbage.

A negative ten would be a good rating. Please stop. It's too painful to keep watching what is mercifully the last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
