A Purrfect Homage

This is too adorable for words, really. And don't be fooled in just thinking this is just a video about a cat like many that's being made after the YouTube and other medias explosion. This was done way before those videos (but a little after Chris Marker's "Cat Playing the Piano") so it contains a sense of curiosity because it was made by one of Novelle Vague's most influential figures, the great Agnes Varda.

Here, she pays an homage to her cat Zgougou, a lovely and faithful companion to the director of "Sans Toi Ni Loi" and "Cleo from 5 to 7", who like many cats has that somewhat annoying/usually endearing quality of picking up their favorite spot in the house and just stay there for ages. Spot in question is Varda's personal computer, of which the male cat also wants to be at but he graciously accepts the queen of the house demands. And Zgougou already had a cameo in another of Varda's film of which the director makes mention.

The sense of humor brought on by the director while narrating the film is very charming, and her cats were very lovely and playful. I know everybody makes those kind of things, all good and fun to see but this one is here, it has a page and it's easily available two decades later. Simply irresistible! 10/10.
