Did Andrew Goldberg really try to get Family Guy canceled?
adampkalb25 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I know just as much as anyone else that this is the worst episode ever that modern Family Guy has to offer us. So what awful things did Andrew Goldberg do here to try to get Family Guy canceled?

1. We got to start with Peter using a whip that was delivered to him by mistake instead of Quagmire to harm Meg, Stewie, 2 people at a concert that just so happens to be one where they are playing the song Whip It, and driving all the way to The now-canceled Cleveland Show to get Cleveland as well. And when he could finally do something good with it for once to get rid of the tough guys who stole his booth, he chickens out and almost everyone, even their colleagues and family members, become mean-spirited to Peter, Quagmire, and Joe for being cowards and want nothing to do with them. 2. He actually tries to make Brian the permanent antagonist by giving herpes to his best friend Stewie when they become blood brothers together! And he did it to Chris too! This made me really happy when they started to ruin his life later in the episode. And this was produced 9 episodes after Stewie went back in time to save Brian's life in Christmas Guy. 3. When Peter, Quagmire, and Joe finally do something to stand up to the tough guys who bullied them, they lose again anyway because the bullies are praised for being soldiers and Peter, Quagmire, and Joe, who were disgraced by everyone for being cowards, are now disgraced again for not being cowards! I could have forgiven this episode for its incompetent writing if it wasn't for Adam West's These 3 Guys day celebrating the bullies who got away with being bullies for being soldiers instead of the main characters who actually tried to stand up to them.

But there was still a few things I don't hate about it, and the gross-out things with the herpes didn't really affect me that much. For one thing, after the way Peter acted with the whip at the beginning of the episode, I thought he deserved Chris and Meg making fun of him for once, instead of the other way around. I was also glad that Lois didn't also berate Peter for being a coward and actually convinced him to stand up to the bullies. The fight scenes at the bar were also cool to watch, and it was also really funny when Bryan Cranston sneezed and got an Emmy for it, and when Peter told the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz that fear is a rational response to danger and he told Dorthy, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man that he was the Rational Lion now, and the argument that he made on why the booth was his towards the end. I also liked it when Stewie and Chris ruined Brian's date with Jenna because it was comeuppance for him giving them herpes.

Of course Andrew Goldberg was probably out of ideas, and he had to go to the bottom of the barrel for this because it was even worse than Seahorse Seashell Party, but at least it had more bad stuff of interest going on in it and that probably makes it more infamous. Considering how awful these plots were, it's no wonder that almost half of this episode was filler, and I'm almost glad that it was so we didn't have to endure too much of this awful storytelling, because I doubt it was even meant to be funny. Peter eating spinach to gain strength like Popeye was also pretty funny, but that sequence could have been made 30 seconds shorter if they didn't want to show us every minor detail of him opening the can of spinach. And Stewie, Chris, and Brian having herpes is so permanently bad that for once I would thank negative continuity for wiping this episode out of existence with any earlier or later episodes.

WHO IN THE WORLD WOULD ACTUALLY ENJOY THIS?!
kaimoney28 August 2020
Oh my god this episode is just sick! Everything about it is so mean! In this episode, Brian gives Stewie herpes for literally no reason. Yeah he gave a baby a disease that lasts for an entire life! And the herpes is just disgusting to look at! We even see a live action photo of one which nearly made me puke!

Oh and Chris said he got herpes from Brian the same way. And then Brian tries to give a girl herpes! What is up with Brian being an awful jerk? This was after he was brought back to life making it look like that was a mistake! Oh and it turns out Brian have Stewie herpes because he was embarrassed... Really Brian? That's your excuse? And believe it or not, Stewie forgives him even though he has herpes forever!

But you think that was bad, the side plot is also terrible! Peter, Quagmire, and Joe see that their Booth at The Drunken Clam has been taken by 3 men. And believe me you will hate these 3 men in this episode. They just bully Peter and his friends just for fun.

But when Peter and his friends refuse to fight them, everyone starts calling them cowards and they don't want them around! What? Was there a scene missing from the episode? Apparently someone went around Quahog telling everyone they were cowards. But when they do manage to fight them, they just get beaten up. And it's revealed that the 3 men that were jerks turned out to be soldiers and everyone literally starts clapping for them and calls Peter and his friends the bad guys! Excuse me?! No one even knew they were soldiers how could you blame them?! They were being bullied in the first place!

God this episode is so awful, I think this is the worst episode of the entire show. This episode is gross, cruel for no reason, makes no sense, and has a terrible ending. DO NOT WATCH THIS EPISODE!

The Element of Surprise (RUINED IT)
skullex-065702 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This was a REALLY good episode in my book! Chris and Stewie are angry at Brian for giving then herpes. At the beginning I thought Brian meant to get them for no reason, but it takes a good turn out when they find out why he gave them herpes. Also making Joe, Quagmire, and Peter being a wimp for not getting their booth back in the bar because it was taken by army or navy guys that they never knew about. I like the herpes part (especially when they put a real picture of herpes on Brian's Facebook page by hacking it!) of the episode, because it gives a life lesson of what not to do from a TV show because of when Brain and Stewie became Blood Brothers. I CAN'T BELIEVE BRIAN ATE MEG'S TAMPONS AND STEWIE THOUGHT THEY WERE BLOOD BROTHERS TOO! UUUHHHHHHH SO MUCH COMEDY! Although, it's kind of gross how Stewie found out he had herpes. The half part of the story where Quagmire, Joe, and Peter got beaten up by the Army Guys in the Bar, that's just UPSETTING! The point that they didn't know there Identity and people were honoring them just because their army people serving for their Country. I GET IT that they should be proud of them, but it's just like they yelled at Babies for crying when they beat up Joe, Quagmire, and Peter in the Bar! Although this was a very good episode of Family Guy other than the Element of Surprise when they found out that the guys at the Bar that took their booth were honored and Peter, Joe, and Quagmire were judged and Un-Honored that they were beaten up by Army guys for them taking THEIR booth.

Warning: MAJOR Spoilers!
toondude-rozier84414 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Brian is an insufferable idiot in this episode. HE KNEW HE HAD HERPES, and gave it to Stewie, a baby, WHO IS THE SOLE REASON BRIAN IS STILL ALIVE. And if that wasn't enough, later on at one point in the episode, he's dating a girl presumably because her father is rich. And he neglected to tell her that he had herpes. If it weren't for Stewie and Chris outing Brian, she probably would have gotten herpes too if she and Brian started dating. Oh and the writers are so focused on making Brian look bad, they didn't even get the whole concept of transferring herpes correct. HERPES ISN'T AQUIRABLE THROUGH BLOOD. YOU CAN GET IT FROM KISSING OR HAVING SEX. The subplot is also abysmal. It makes soldiers look like jerks who get awarded just because they're soldiers. Way to portray hard working soldiers who fight for our country, Seth! Herpe the Love Sore is terrible, no redeeming quality about it. While Fresh Heir and Seahorse Seashell Party are the top two worst episodes of the entire series, Herpe the Love Sore is third, not too far behind those other two. It seems like with every new episode, Family Guy is getting worse and worse. It went from charming and comedic to being one of the most demented and repulsive things airing on TV today. MUTILATING A BEACHED WHALE ISN'T FUNNY(Peter Problems). A MAN TRYING TO MARRY HIS SON ISN'T FUNNY(Fresh Heir). CONVINCING VIEWERS TO STAY IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP FOR THE ABUSER'S BENEFIT IS NOT FUNNY(Seahorse Seashell Party). Family Guy is becoming the new Allen Gregory. No wait, it already has. Words can't describe my burning hatred for this pathetic, poorly animated excuse for a show. And I'm not done with my rant on Brian Griffin. Just wait until I review "Brian the Closer".

My Partner and I have was suffering from Herpes simplex for years. We have tried so many solutions with no result. One fateful day while browsing through the internet I saw a testimony of a client who got cured from herpes by Dr. Robinson buckler through herbal medicine so I decided to give a try. A try that changed our life for good. I contacted Dr. Robinson buckler and he sent some herbal medicine to us, which we took for 14 days. It was a great surprise when we went for a test and the test result came out negative., Dr. Robinson buckler brought joy into my family again. His result is 100% guaranteed. .. it's unbelievable! .... You contact him on his email. Robinsonbuckler yahoo com.

Disgusting and deserves to be forgotten
sgtgrizzlyb19 January 2019
I hate this show and this episode as well. It starts off with Peter assaulting people with a whip and the main subject is Brian giving Stewie herpes. Who the fridge is writing this?! This is one of the many examples of why I hate Brian in every aspect of this show. And the humour. Like the show itself, nothing funny can ever come out of this episode. All the jokes are disgusting, gross, and unpleasant to look at in this episode. Brian, how can you be evil and intentionally give a baby herpes?! You deserved to stay cut from the show after "Life of Brian" because you always left me in a very bad taste whatsoever! Stewie, you really deserve a better friend than Brian. This episode is so bad that it even surpasses SpongeBob's "The Splinter". Fox must have realized this episode sucked and had nothing good about it at all. I don't like this episode. It's bad. Don't watch it.

Wow, what a horrible episode!
JigglypuffGuy6 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Brian was just unlikable here! He gives Stewie herpes after being "Blood Brothers" with him, and he treats it like it's no big deal.

Most of the jokes here were unfunny and were disgusting, including the scene where Brian shows Stewie his herpes and the cutaway that involves Stewie as an adult doing a job interview while he still has herpes.

The subplot wasn't any better either, Peter, Quagmire and Joe arrive at The Drunken Clam to find their usual booth taken by three tough guys, and they try to take it back. It wasn't awful like the main plot is, but it is still rather uninteresting.

The only parts I thought was remotely enjoyable was the beginning scene where the Family watches VH1's Behind the Music which features Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem and the scene where Stewie calls up Handy Manny.

It is honestly shocking to see how Family Guy has lowered themselves to this, do NOT watch this episode!

Meh episode + Gross out!
celiawatsonanime18 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The gross out in this episode is totally unnecessary.

It's not the end of Stewie and Chris's life because Brian gave them herpes.

They shouldn't have been such jerks to Brian to get revenge.

Why can't he just go in his time machine or have science fiction save him?

This could have been better. Maybe if they went in time to prevent Herpes from ever happening in the first place. Maybe if Brian had some ulterior motive for why he wanted them infected with herpes?

Brian is just irredeemable
hagen-3941723 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have never be more disgusted by a tv show before.

Brian actually gives Stewie herpes by switching blood knowing full well he has herpes for no reason with nothing to gain and feel literally not even the tiniest bit of guilt, shame or remorse for permanently giving his supposed best friend a disgusting STD for the rest of his life.

Stewie literally saved his life a few episodes earlier and this is how he repays his savior and best friend?! What the f is wrong with Brian he is beyond sick he's a full on despicable sadistic sociopath!

And there is no message to this at all!

It not a message about growing from mistakes, its not a message about knowing who your true friends are its not even a message about betrayal cause by the end of the episode it truly says nothing.

Stewie somehow forgives Brian on a whim for literally scaring his body for life.

The whole plot is just an appalling act with nothing to it that makes you sick to your very core!

Nothing in this episode or any episodes of the entire season for that matter is clear of what it wants to say. It's not clear whether it wants to be deep, comedic, silly, melancholic, emotionally heavy, thoughtfully messaging, nihilistic or all of them.

This god awful episode can't even do nihilism properly!

You know after watching this episodes the writer of it is just screaming

"Please hate me so I don't have to work on this show anymore!"

there just no other reason for why this episode is so awful.

Something this incredibly unpleasantly bad can only come from someone who deliberately wants to appall the viewers so much that they will hate the show so much that they want it to get cancelled.

Sadly though it didn't get cancelled.

But everyone sure do despise it now.

This episode is just out to emotionally violate you and just see have far it can go in disgusting you by the most scummy behavior.
