Entertaining
Paynebyname20 March 2017
I recently took a chance on this after seeing it on Amazon and I have to say that I'm glad I did.

It's a small, independent film but it didn't feel like it or have that 'tv movie' look. Okay it wasn't full of special effects but it didn't need to be.

What pulled it through was the acting of the lead actor and the likability of his character. A good film, that was well written, was slightly different, had an interesting premise and kept me entertained.

Better than expected but...
sfinancing7 October 2017
...not even the genre I was expecting.

Rather expected a post apocalyptic survival movie and while there is a rather white bread version of this as the setting(ish) this is more of an exploration of addiction.

Zero budget, but decently scripted and well acted.

Special effects were non existent, but not especially needed.

At 1 hour 20 min it moved along well.

Ultimately if you head into this one expecting action or indeed anything other than a drama, you will likely be disappointed. Taken for what it actually is it is a decent flick.

Worth the time spent to watch it but never gonna be a favorite or a classic.

Cute indie film
ianjones-295292 February 2017
The movie opens with Jack stumbling around the streets in a blizzard of cocaine and alcohol addiction. The people closest to him are barely alluded to, until his brother demands he meet him with some terrible news and a task to take on.

I enjoyed this. Jack is a sympathetic and well acted character, the pacing is nice, and the sense of space around the movie works for me.

There is a reasonable story arc and movement in the characterisation.

It hit a spot.

It wasn't the best movie I have ever seen, but it hit a spot.

At the end of Castaway where Tom Hanks is left with his beachball and the woman who drives away and he's there, kind of wondering, thats what this movie is like.

Solid Indie
HeyChipLane20 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
While the acting, cinematography and special effects were solid, I think the story could have been stronger. It almost seems like a cop out to end films the way this one ends.

For an indie film, though, you should watch it. There are some solid elements.

Don't waste your time
crazy1219117 March 2017
This film has really bad acting. It has no storyline. Don't trust the high IMDb rating, films like this usually only get 2-3 stars. It's surely the people who made the film leaving the good reviews. No person in their right mind would rate it that high. A complete waste of time. Worse than a TV film. I don't know why it's even on Amazon Prime.

Pleasant Surprise
hrundivb_2 February 2017
I watched this movie on the Android box. Right off the bat I could see the quality of the feed was not great, and normally I won't watch a movie if that's the case, but as I watched the intro scene and credits, I was already drawn into the movie. The protagonist is an alcoholic and drug addict, well acted, believable. I especially liked that the storyline moved quickly, sparing us any long drawn out set-up of the impending apocalypse. The clan of characters who eventually ban together are a unique blend, no real duds in the group, and some fine acting. An excellent soundtrack accompanies several key scenes, and the writing invokes some powerful emotional scenes as our protagonist confronts his inner demons. The film is only 80 minutes long, it could have been much longer, but I like that the writer/director chose to narrow the parallel story lines in favour of a tighter script. Interesting ending, all in all a satisfying apocalyptic film, sans zombies or gruesome disease riddled mutants.

Terrible. Do NOT waste your time!
ginababay13 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was so terrible!! There is absolutely nothing that happens in the entire movie. The only reason I finished watching it is because I didn't want to waste the 60 minutes I had already invested so I patiently waited. I should have just stopped there! I ended up wasting 120 minutes still waiting for something to happen!

Horribly written. This movie had so much potential. The lighting was so bad and weird and with how the camera was moving and bouncing all over. I'm surprised I didn't throw up!

I created an IMDb account just so I could write this review to warn everyone!

Enjoyable post-apocalyptic and tale of redemption merge, with an indie vibe.
vincentjroth24 May 2018
Enjoyable post-apocalyptic and tale of redemption merge, with an indie vibe. It's really not a "horror" film, but definitely 2 dramas happening at the same time - an outer apocalypse and an inner apocalypse. Seemed to capture a realistic feel in the struggle with addiction and its destruction on one's life. More cerebral than action for an end of the world flick. Some clever plot devices were refreshing. An enjoyable amount of metaphysics without being preachy. Nice cinematography and some interesting setting with some strong performances, and an enjoyable somewhat open ending that allows the viewers to think for themselves.

If you're looking for a unique take on post-apocalyptic drama, then you should see JACK'S APOCALYPSE.
ryanbartongrimley6 January 2018
JACK'S APOCALYPSE is a well-made personal story with a great lead performance. If you're more into psychological horror and post-apocalyptic storylines that deal with the how the characters are feeling and dealing with their fate, kind of the The Walking Dead, then this film is for you. The themes and questions it deals with are similar, but they're dealt with deeply and considerately. Also Dave Maldonado is a really great actor that I hope to see more of. If you're looking for a unique take on post-apocalyptic drama, then you should see JACK'S APOCALYPSE.

Bad movie.
nahummojica22 July 2019
It starts of pretty ok. Then it just goes from bad to worse. There are multiple scenes in the movie that have no relation to the plot. Definitely a waste of time from ending.

Disappointing
Redpawn319 March 2020
Was tempted t rate this even lower as some people do, but my fair assessment is it's a 5/10.

It's just not good. I did watch this because it had an overall rating of 6.3+ and Amazon Prime of 3+ stars out of 5.

I just don't feel this movie at all. Slow, plodding, boring. But I think 5/10 is a fair assessment.

I am Jack's Approval
NickMondoMedia3 June 2018
Very clever film here - misleading by the title (if you don't pause to think), but wholly, dynamically satisfying. The cinematography matches anything on TV today, and even reminds me of The Leftovers on HBO. This is a story of addiction and the devastating ripples it can create, but there IS redemption in this story I appreciate not getting punched in the gut with a downward spiral, designed just to show a character's self-destruction. Well done here. With a name actor, I think we'd be seeing this film in a wider release. Maybe the next one?

Great story about a troubled and complex character. It's a tale of addiction and the consequences of it.

The main character really made the film. The acting, the storyline and cinematography all came together nicely and made a thoughtful while entertaining film.
