Here at Et, we’re obsessed with a lot of things -- and this is what we’re most excited about as we gear up for Halloween:
Why We’re Obsessed With ‘Stranger Things 2’
The Duffer Brothers’ surprise hit Netflix series is back with a second season -- and it doesn’t disappoint! The residents of Hawkins, Indiana -- namely, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will (Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) -- find themselves dealing with the unexpected repercussions of the events of season one as new neighbors (Max and Billy, played by Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery, and Sean Astin as Bob) and new frights (we can’t say here!) arrive in their nostalgia-filled world. And for those keeping track, expect plenty of nods and references to everything from The Exorcist and Ghostbusters to Jurassic Park and Lost. And while you wait for the new season to premiere, we recommend streaming...

Currently on display at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, Hammett's impressive collection is also featured in a new hardcover book called It's Alive that's out now from Skira Rizzoli, and we have a look at some of the eye-popping posters included within the pages of the treasured collection.

Set in present day Los Angeles, cinema’s oldest monsters becomes man’s newest miracle as Frankenstein is brought bang up to date. Telling its tale entirely from the point of view of The Monster (Xavier Samuel – The Twilight Saga, Fury) the story unravels as he is artificially created by a husband and wife team of eccentric scientists (Danny Huston – X-Men Origins: Wolverine, 30 Days Of Night and Carrie-Anne Moss – Pompeii, The Matrix Trilogy) and then left for dead.
Confronted with nothing but aggression and violence as he attempts to make is way in the world, Frankenstein is a full-blooded and unflinching reimagining of a timeless classic that terrifies as much as it casts a mirror over the nature of humanity and science. Candyman director’s revisionist take on Frankenstein due out in February. Bernard Rose hasn’t made many horror movies but the ones he has made have spoken loudly, chiefly 1988’s haunting Paperhouse, his bona fide dark fantasy classic, 1992’s Candyman and the underrated 2005 noir Snuff Movie. Which is why we’re excited to see him back making…

I’ll be honest, on paper, seeing yet another film based on the Frankenstein story – especially directed by Bernard Rose, who by this time had fallen far from the acclaim of Candyman – was not my idea of a good time. Now I’ll eagerly sing it’s praises to anyone that asks…

The following isn't exactly a best of the year list, because I haven't watched every single film that was released, played at a film festival, or completed filming this year. Rather, these are the best movies that I reviewed for MoreHorror.com in 2015, and are all movies that I can recommend without hesitation.

Barbara Crampton getting ahead in Re-Animator
Barbara Crampton, who starred in horror favourites including Re-Animator and From Beyond, will lea the guest line-up at this year's Film4 Frightfest, it was revealed today.
"To say that I am overjoyed, excited and eager to attend FrightFest as a guest is putting it mildly. This festival has been on my radar for some time and to be included and have four films screening is a welcome nightmare from which I hope never to wake," said Crampton, whose new films Sun Choke and Road Games will première at the festival.
Also on the guest list are Braveheart and Trainspotting star James Cosmo, The Descent director Neil Marshall and Eighties pop icon Toyah Willcox, who has recently revived her horror career. Candyman director Bernard Rose will be there to introduce his new take on Frankenstein while Corin Hardy will take a break from work on his remake.

Dwayne Johnson's latest actioner San Andreas is another PG-13 rated visual effects piece of disaster porn as the MPAA promises "intense disaster action and mayhem throughout". Can't wait! There's more PG-13 goodness in the Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara comedy Hot Pursuit, but the rest of this week's highlights are all R-rated, that is, except for the PG-rated Minions, but, well, you know... Two movies we reviewed out of SXSW are coming soon and both are rated R in the form of Adult Beginners and The Overnight. Also, the Owen Wilson, Lake Bell and Pierce Brosnan "trouble in Southeast Asia" movie, No Escape, has an updated R rating. The original rating back in July 2014 was for "strong violence including a sexual assault, and for language", and this new rating is pretty much the same, but it's missing the "including a sexual assault" bit. Wonder what happened there... Finally, there's...

Today, the indie thriller VANish arrives on Blu/DVD and VOD and to celebrate, Daily Dead recently had the opportunity to sit down and chat with prolific character actor Tony Todd, who portrays an oddball highway cop that unknowingly stumbles upon a kidnapping-gone-wrong during a routine traffic stop. During our interview, Todd discussed his involvement with the project, what’s coming next for him and how his enduring legacy as Candyman has allowed him to continue to pursue his interests in social work.
Thanks for speaking with me today, Tony. I thought VANish did a really nice job of doing some unexpected things even if it didn’t have a huge budget. It got very creative with the characters which was a great decision, I think.
Tony Todd: Oh yeah, I’d agree that the story kept things interesting and those choices make it a better experience for audiences,...

It's the penultimate episode of "American Horror Story: Freak Show," which means Ryan Murphy and his crew are going at full throttle. There are horrific flashbacks, a murderous doll, sexy conjoined twins, revenge, revelations, and lots of blood. This episode isn't called "Show Stoppers" for nothing!
Gabba, Gabba, Hey!
It isn't a coincidence that the long dinner table that they occasionally use in the main tent looks an awful lot like the set-up in Tod Browning's seminal horror film "Freaks," and they finally got right down to it. When Stanley arrives for dinner, Elsa announces that evening's entertainment will be one of her favorite movies, "Freaks," and then Eve, Paul, Suzi, and the other performers explain how the "freaks" in the movie take their horrific revenge on the person who betrayed them, then gather their own weapons and chase Stanley through the fairgrounds. I was expecting more of an...

When Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski came across the bizarre story of Walter and Margaret Keane, they thought they’d found a seamless vehicle on which to make their directorial debut. It was cheap, and had all the requisite characteristics of their best known scripts, Ed Wood, Man On The Moon and People Vs. Larry Flynt; charming oddball characters that never rose above the zeitgeist B-list. Tim Burton, who directed Ed Wood and Big Eyes, puts it best: “It’s what they excel at, their strongest work is finding weird real stories, torn from headlines you never read.” So why should their 11-year struggle to get Big Eyes made be anything but quirky and colorful?

Five days into the new year and the movie awards season is in full swing. A chance to celebrate all of the cinematic gold bestowed upon us by filmmakers over the last 365 days, the majority of awards bodies veer towards the positive. The good, the great and the outstanding movie achievements. Of course, you can’t have yin without yang, and that customary glint of deviousness amidst the showers of compliments will soon be upon us, in the shape of the The Annual Golden Raspberry Awards.
Known informally as The Razzies, the achievements are dished out based on how bad the category nominees performed, and this year’s nominees have now been announced. Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways To Die In The West beat out its closest competitors for the esteemed honour of most nominations with a whopping eight altogether. Recent limelight comedy, The Interview, also snagged four nominations across three categories.
