It was so engaging, inspirational and real! The history of a story untold and yet told in a way that you will want to watch it again and again! True stories, of hardcore men that just wouldn't quit and who stood up against a society to reach people in a way no one else had ever done! Loved It!!!!

Must See!!!
bishopjonathan-3890725 April 2019
I was able to see a viewing of this move on March 30, 2019 in Visalia, California. Whether you are a fan of Bloodgood or not, this movie is a must see. While other bands like Motley Crue were busy creating the events of The Dirt, Bloodgood was paving a path beyond anything metal or rock has ever experienced. There is only one Bloodgood, and this story is amazing! I can't wait for the official release. It's also for all ages. I was wrapped remembering this band from the past, while my 13 year old son was entranced by the band for the first time. So much so, that on the ride home he carefully copied the Bloodgood band name logo onto his treasured Van shoes. You don't get the sharpie to Vans treatment unless you are something special, and this band is still something special!

Without a doubt, Top of the Mountain film
davidpetrino1 September 2019
As a Bloodgood band fan since their first album, I must encourage everyone to order this DVD that shares this band's journey in faith as Metal Missionaries! There's a great account of all the band members' lives, their fans, and the heavy metal music industry they broke through to Stand in the Light. So much more than a documentary like Behind the Music, you won't be disappointed. Excellent interviews and footage that lets you experience Bloodgood then and now!

Dangerously Close to Perfection!
dietcokaholic10 April 2020
Hey You! Awake! Say goodbye to films that bring anguish and pain and make you lose your mind, wanting to run away, out of the darkness of the theater crying help me, and asking yourself, what have I done? America, it's alright. Now, we can all stand together in the presence of a little slice of Heaven on earth, a film forged out of love for the Messiah. In the Trenches of Rock movie, the world is introduced to a real live wire act, Bloodgood, and watch them run the race while they stand in the light of the mad dog world of the Christian Metal scene. I will never be the same, after this top of the mountain experience. I pray for studio album number Seven from #Bloodgoodband. I can hold on, but only for so long. When it comes, I will be shakin' it like a streetlight dancer with a heartbeat burning like holy fire. This is a precious treasure you save on earth, until the Lamb of God returns!

The true history of a groundbreaking rock band
audiovertigo20 January 2020
Man, I didn't care for what my church leaders passed off as "Christian Rock". It was soft and wimpy. I wanted to listen to the music my neighbor was listening to: KISS, Crüe, Iron Maiden. My neighbor was a huge impact upon my musical tastes and one day he brought home an album by the band Stryper. It was good Christian Rock! Metal, even! My neighbor eventually became a Christian and found lots of cool(er) Christian Music. One day he reads about and then buys the first Bloodgood album. This was a different kind of Christian music; it's lyrics dealt with issues such as suicide and some hard core takes on Biblical subjects. Bloodgood followed that album with Detonation, an even better album. We saw the band in Bluefield WV and it remains a concert highlight for me to this day. The band continued from strength to strength and their story is truly inspiring. Bloodgood's history is now told in Trenches Of Rock, an unflinching documentary about the band's near-meteoric rise and its myriad struggles recounted by those who tread the road herein taken. This is a project steeped in respect for a genre of music and a genuine love for the band. It isn't a fairytale love story where everyone receives their own happily ever after. There are spartan lows recollected and graceful mountaintop experiences spoken of in humble pride and reverence to God who made the journey possible. Trenches Of Rock is a "VH-1 Behind The Music" worthy production. Director Paul Michael Bloodgood spared no effort to assemble up close and personal interviews and sorted through a lifetime's cache of photographs, videos, concert flyers and ticket stubs to bring a truly visceral experience for the viewer. Trenches Of Rock immerses you in the grit and hardships endured by this pioneering rock band. Bloodgood deserve all credit for stepping out in faith to accomplish a goal sewn into them by their Creator. Their Creator deserves all glory.

Fantastic film about a trailblazing band!
therocker-574404 January 2020
This is an absolutely fantastic film about Bloodgood, one of the earlier hard rock/metal bands who blazed a trail for the bands after them. They combined a hard rock/metal sound, along with a faith based message, which was a combination that was almost unheard of in a band at the time. Highly recommended if you are a music loving person, but even if you are not, you will take something away from it.

I've been a Bloodgood fan for several years. I have been privileged to see then several times in concert. This documentary is a must see for any true Bloodgood fan. It is an amazing journey. True metal missionaries right up to this present day. They don't water anything or candy coat the true. I walk away with added respect and much love for these guys.

Professional Rock-N-Roll Documentary
dreddsweet13 January 2020
Very professionally put together, this rock-n-roll documentary deep-dives into the lives of the men who became the metal missionaries of the Christian rock band Bloodgood.

Tasteful and shocking, Christian and rock, serene and loud, this band and this movie juxtaposes many things. Bu the one thing that Bloodgood does, and which comes across so well in this movie, is they live for Jesus and they exist to tell others about Him.

As someone who grew up in my formative years listening to this band, it is impossible to watch this without getting emotional.

If you are a fan of rock documentaries, this is one you have got to see.

Eye opening Story! Gripping and insightful!
keithdtvservice7 January 2020
First rate insightful documentary focusing on the American band Bloodgood. Formed in the mid 80's during a time when the Heavy Metal / Rock genres were gaining popularity in the mainstream. It follows the bands progress with interviews and archive footage, charting their successful career and centring on their desire to match faith based lyrics to this particular style of music, virtually unheard of at the time. Highlighting the obstacles thrown in their path, from bible bashing preachers who condemned outright this type of music, lambasting all who dared question their opinion, the prejudice from even other musicians who were equally vociferous in their own condemnation and then some......To the practical realities of trying to keep a band together, record label deals, promotion and support (or lack thereof), life on the road and the consummate dedication and effort put in to it all by these true "Metal Missionaries". Regardless of whether or not you are a Christian, this documentary is a must see. Informative and a real eye opener, it captures your attention from beginning to end.

GREAT documentary! Legendary Metal Missionaries!
tim-ristow7 May 2022
This documentary is really a well produced piece and gives a nice, tight, solid overview of Bloodgood's history from the beginning and leading up to the release of 2013's "Dangerously Close". It leaves you wanting more. That's what good films do. Considering that, as I write this, Michael Bloodgood is in the hospital recovering from a stroke and getting stronger by the day, and the fact that just a short time prior to his stroke, Bloodgood performed with Whitecross, and coming up in September 2022 Les Carlson will be performing at a Christian Music Festival, the Bloodgood story is far from over. In fact, when the time is right, I'd love to see Paul produce either an extended Trenches of Rock edition updating the story - or Trenches of Rock 2 come to light. Great film, Paul! Great music & ministry, Bloodgood!

I am glad to have this in my library!
it_sacramento1 February 2021
There are not too many rock DVD's you want to buy. Compared to a Van Halen or Led Zep DVD which are a one time watch this one is a keeper. A journey with these guys through their struggles and convictions as Christian musicians. I love the musicianship and the dedication to their faith and sound. It's really special especially as a fan to learn what they went through and have become because of it. It's a total ROCK STORY!

BEHIND THE SCENES OF CHRISTIAN ROCK!
radiogeekdotcom11 August 2022
This documentary was brilliantly put together! Even if you're not a big fan of Christian music or metal, you will appreciate the hardships Bloodgood faced and hear how they overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to reach a lost generation.

I discovered Bloodgood because I lived near Les Carlson and heard some cool music when I walked by his house. As I got to know Les, I could see that his relationship with God wasn't an act to grift off the Christian community. He genuinely wanted to reach kids and bring them to the Lord.

As you watch this documentary, you come to understand that this passion for winning the hearts and minds of kids wasn't unique to Les. Every one of the band members viewed their music as a tool to talk to kids that saw Christianity was boring.

The way the story is told is nothing short of brilliant. It will keep you fully engaged from start to finish.

In The Trenches, You Will Never Be The Same!
ivansheridan726 August 2022
I purchased this Rock biography on blu-ray about three months ago and watched it with my wife and our "kids" (now in their 20s). What a personable, engaging group of musicians, who are not bashful or shallow in regards to their faith. I was moved by the risks the band Bloodgood took with performing rock dramas of the gospel/passion of Christ, as well as Michael's and Les Carlson's engagement with the audience. What a true testimony of this bands love for Christ/God Almighty and the Good He wants for Us all.!

Also, we were taken aback by the American music industries handling of Bloodgood, while Europe embraced this band's talent, even when the message was contrary to their socially secular culture. What audiences in Europe! In addition, I was gritting my teeth watching James Hetfield of Metallica mock and disdain Bloodgood with his fellow scoffers. Probably most frustrating because I was once one of them!!!!!!

Great, honest Bio on the evolution of the band members, who also are frank about the times and their challenges of being christian performers, married...and parents! Not as overwinded as this review though;-).

Will be an inspiration to fans, old and new(me), Christians, and musician disciples of the Way. Following this I purchased a "Trenches of Rock" t-shirt, particularly for the upcoming Stryper concert, and to initiate a conversation. This film is a great tribute and testimony to all who glorify our Lord, including of course, the recent passing of our brother-in Christ Michael Bloodgood. Enjoy!

That's right...CHRISTIAN metal!
mbgrafix-483-75856816 September 2022
People think that devil metal is cool, but no way, CHRISTIAN metal is MUCH cooler! Why? It's simple It is JESUS WHO WINS and Satan who LOSES!!!

Who wants to celebrate a LOSER?!

"...and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever." --REVELATION 20:10

That's right,, "tormented forever!". So, forget your plans because there ain't no parties in Hell!

THEN, on top of all that, BLOODGOOD ARE not good metal musicians...they are OUTSTANDING METAL MUSICIANS!!!

JESUS AND METAL: A Match Made In Heaven!

A Near-Perfect Rockumentary
Stevezilla19617 March 2023
From start to finish, this Rockumentary has it all: Drama, a little humor, intrigue, and of course, the great music from Seattle's own BLOODGOOD! They were I would have to say CRIMINALLY under-rated, not only for the great tunes, but their bombastic live shows as well. Their love for Jesus truly shone through, despite the lack of CCM noticing them because of their uncompromising music. Stryper got a lot of the press, and they were a help to the band, but when you are squeezed from both sides (the Christians thought they were demonic, and the non-Believers didn't like their staunch stand when it came to the Lord.

Watch this film, enjoy the music, and learn...
