I was surprised at about the 16:30 mark when Jim's friend ask where he planning to go: "St. Edward's? Washington? Southwestern?" St. Edward's is located in Austin, Texas, and Southwestern just north of Austin in Georgetown, Texas. Washington is probably referring to Washington University in St. Louis.
So although the film was apparently made in Southern California, someone dropped some non-California names in there :)
