This is the final animation made by Jimmy T. Murakami, the same director of the bleak film "When the Wind Blows", who also was supervising director of the beautiful Christmas short "The Snowman".
It's basically a simple, but heartwarming tale about the friendship of a kid and the sandpiper he adopts as a pet after rescuing it from some agressive seagulls, eventually having to release it once again in the wild after some time.
I liked a lot its stylish animation, with a very pleasant look for characters and sceneries, needing less than seven minutes to tell a quite endearing story.
The ending scene in particular it's beautifully bittersweet.
