This interview, included on the Kino Lorber 2015 release for . . .

. . . BURNT OFFERINGS, is actually much more entertaining than that 1976 box office bomb itself. (The same can be said of the other two interviews including here, with child-actor-all-grown-up Lee Montgomery and screenwriter William F. Nolan, who says he also struck out with LOGAN'S RUN in America's Centennial Year: if you have to pick one of these two for viewing simply on the basis of prurient interest, it's an easy choice--Karen Black's poorly lit body double diving Au Naturel into the family pool at midnight, or Jenny Agutter full-frontal in broad daylight). Though some cranks might argue the point, Mr. James proves himself the most iconic and craftsman-like member of the BURNT OFFERINGS cast. Bette Davis recognized Anthony's unique talents when they were teamed in RETURN FROM WITCH MOUNTAIN, and made sure he was on hand to grease her wheels during her ultimate OFFERINGS scene.

Excellent Interview with James

Anthony James: Acting His Face (2015)

**** (out of 4)

This here is an excellent featurette, which has character actor Anthony James discussing his career including his work on films like IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, BURNT OFFERINGS and UNFORGIVEN. This 17-minute interview is a bonus feature on the BURNT OFFERINGS release so that film gets a lot of talk and we get a terrific story about how Betty Davis helped James. We also get some great stories about being on the set of IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT and a lot of the stories here center around his mother, which leads to a good and touching story dealing with him memoir. If you're a fan of James then you'll certainly want to check out this interview as he's certainly a great storyteller and we get some great bits of information on the films I mentioned. The story with Eastwood and UNFORGIVEN was great but then again so was pretty much every other story told here.
