This is a spin off from the successful series "Skin Wars". Like its predecessor, it is a competition show pitting artists against each other as they compete in body painting challenges.
Hosted by RuPaul, "Fresh Paint" features six artists who have never done body painting. They are divided into teams of two and given a shared mentor. At the end of the first competition, each mentor chooses which artist he wishes to continue with, reducing the number of competitors to three. It was impressive how quickly some artists learned the new skills.
In the second round, one artist is eliminated. The winner of the $10,000 prize is determined after round three.
In episode 1, the competitors are experts in different media (everything form oil paints to cake). In episode 2, they are all graffiti artists. I was very impressed with the quality of their graffiti.
I really enjoy how each artist has a different personal style, artistic vision, and personality. I don't know how many episodes they intend to produce, but I am looking forward to more of this series.
