B Wing Beginning
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic12 October 2020
This centres on Hera trying to bring a powerful new ship to help the rebellion. It is the origin of the B Wing Fighter. I still have my original B Wing toy from the 80s which is an awesome toy of an awesome design of ship. This is really nice to see it in great action with some impressively animated sequences.

Hera gets more chance to shine and to talk about her motivation which is really good too.

Great voice work from great actor David Oluyewo as Kallis adds quality to the blockade scenes and there is a feeling of the desperate attempts of rebels to help oppressed people.

A fun episode with some nice action.

My rating: 8/10.

Wings of the Masters
lassegalsgaard14 December 2019
I like these episodes that focus on something that we have seen in the original trilogy. The B-wing design was something that we first saw in "Return of the Jedi," and to have this series explain the origin of that ship and many other attributes that the rebellion has is a great idea. I also like the episode was centered on Hera, who hasn't had a lot of these episodes to herself. We got a little bit more about her, and about her family and life on Ryloth, even though it wasn't a lot of information we didn't already know. I loved the flying sequences in this episode, and the training segment was a blast to see. Loved the animation of that, and I loved the final battle. I think the episode felt a little formularic and repetitive in its execution, but nothing that took away from the immense enjoyment I had watching the episode. It also introduced a new and fun character into the lore, who I hope that we get to see more of in future episodes. It was a nice comeback after the wasted potential of last episode, and I really do hope that they keep it and do go back to the more filler-based episodes.

B-Wing episode gets a B+ from me
Fluke_Skywalker9 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Plot; In an effort to break through an Imperial blockade to deliver much needed food rations, Hera goes on a mission to bring back an experimental prototype fighter; The B-Wing.

Solid episode start to finish, 'Wings of the Master' is easily the best of S2 thus far. Nice, tight story, good character moments for each of the main players, great space action and a lot of really nice original musical cues.

I also got a kick out of the reveal that the experimental fighter in question was a B-Wing. It was also nice to see Hera, often left out of the drama, the main focus of the story.

SUPERB episode, reminiscent of CLASSIC Star Wars!
hburji26 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode, for me at least, is one of the best of the season, and possibly top 5-10 entire series. There's something incredibly "CLASSICAL Star Wars" about it, and so much effort and detail put into this episode that becomes more and more apparent each time you watch it. I loved how this focused on the origins of the B-Wing, and centres on Hera as the main character. We get to see Hera independent of Kanan and the crew, and more as a character in her own right. The maiden flight sequence gave me goose bumps, it reminded me of the feeling I had back as a child seeing X-Wings and Tie Fighters for the very first time: being desperate to know more about these craft and wanting to see more visual detail of them. The real joy heightens when witnessing its first battle - the final scene is brilliant on so many levels - the entry and timing of Hera and Sabine in the B-Wing from hyperspace, the scoring (NOTE! The B-Wing gets its very own musical score here, repeated 3 times in the sequence, each time with a different voice taking the lead to escalate the tension of the scene) which is BEAUTIFULLY played by the orchestra and has a VERY John Williams feel to it, the adrenaline from great cutting in the Rebel attack run (which is splendidly animated I might add), perfectly and furiously paced, right through to the destruction of the Imperial light cruiser and the pan to Agent Kallus's jaw dropping in pure shock as the Rebel fleet moves past the Imperial blockade, you almost get the feeling this episode could have been made into an entire full-length film of its own. I cannot applaud the cast, crew and team of Rebels for the incredible work on this episode, it's absolutely STELLAR. There is no length of standing ovation I could offer to give this fantastic episode enough adulation. Watch it. 10 TIMES and then again.

Hera the favorite character
KleineMade7 January 2021
Hera is definetely the favorite character in this series. She is a great pilot. Best thing about her character, the directors dont try to artificaly make her to be super clever or super strong or anything else like it is done for so many other characters in the star wars saga which did not work out (Ray, Finn or Poe). She is just autentic, a good pilot a and a great crew member.

Captain Hera

Warning: Spoilers
I kind of loved it! It's nice to see a Hera-centric episode for once. She's an imperfect person and just a super charming pilot/friend. Would love more episodes with her front and center.

The origins of the B-wing was really cool to see as well. This show is shaping up to be a pretty solid piece of Star Wars. This season specifically feels less and less like fanfiction the more it goes on. I agree, this episode feels a lot like the original trilogy. Takes me back to the days of Luke flying his X-wing.
