Actress Shubhangi Atre, best known for her role in the sitcom ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai’, strongly believes in the power of manifestation, and practices it every day.
She feels an actor’s hard work and determination enable him/her to climb the ladder to success.
“I believe in luck, but I see it as more of a chance-giver. Luck might open doors for you, but it’s your hard work and determination that truly matter. I think luck contributes about 40 per cent, while the remaining 60 per cent comes from your effort, consistency, and dedication,” she said.
Speaking about the power of manifestation, Shubhangi shared: “However, it’s not just about wishing for something and waiting for it to happen; you need to put in efforts too. If your intentions are pure and your hard work matches your desires, manifestation can truly work wonders. I believe that cosmic energies play a...

The cover of John Lennon‘s Double Fantasy depicts him kissing Yoko Ono. The record’s title is not simply a reference to the two of them working together. John revealed the name has a spiritual meaning.
John Lennon’s ‘Double Fantasy’ was inspired by John’s view of prayer
The book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono features an interview from 1980. In it, John revealed his opinions about prayer. “The consciousness is, ‘Let’s see what we shall pray for together. Let’s make it stronger by picturing the same image, projecting the same image,'” he said. “And that is the secret. That is the secret. Because you can be together but projecting different things.”
Yoko said these dual projections were “double fantasies,” alluding to the title of their newest record. “Double fantasies at the same time,” John replied. “And...

Jared Harris, Joseph Fiennes & Sheila Atim Leading A+E/Sky’s ‘Royal Kill List’
Jared Harris, Joseph Fiennes and Sheila Atim are leading an A+E Networks/Sky series about King Charles I from Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story producer 72 Films. Royal Kill List is Sky History’s latest docu-drama following in the footsteps of the likes of Royal Bastards: Rise of The Tudors and The Royal Mob. The three-part series looks back at one of the most seismic events in British royal history. In 1649, for the first and only time, a British monarch was publicly executed, having been tried and convicted of treason by Parliament. This bloody spectacle heralded 10 years of Britain as a republic before, in May 1660, the monarchy was restored with the accession of King Charles II. Told through dramatic reconstruction, Atim for the Royalists, Harris for the Regicides, and Fiennes for King Charles II will play out the Jacobean tragedy,...

The motif of soulmates has been repeatedly explored in cinema throughout its history, particularly in romantic dramas/comedies which found a rather appealing theme in order to develop stories from. Celine Song, in her feature directorial debut, presents her take on the motif, through a semi-autobiographical approach that also combines the theme of the Asian-American diaspora. “Past Lives” premiered in Sundance, was later screened in Berlin and recently found its place in Busan.
Past Lives screened at Busan International Film Festival
The story begins in 2000, introducing us to two deeply connected childhood friends, Na-young and Hae Sung, who find themselves separated after the former’s family emigrates from South Korea to Canada. Twelve years later, Hae Sung has finished his military service and Na-young has emigrated to New York City, where she has changed her name to Nora. San Francisco, Sep 10 (Ians) Those people who believe in the practice of ‘manifesting’ are at higher risk of ‘bankruptcy’, a new study has suggested. According to the study published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, those who believe in manifestation – the idea that positive thoughts or visualisation can lead to desired outcomes – were more likely to be drawn to risky investments and to believe they could achieve an improbable level of success more quickly.
The researchers asked 375 people to rate their agreement with statements about manifestation, and they discovered that for every point higher on the scale, people were 40 per cent more likely to have experienced bankruptcy and 30 per cent more likely to have invested in cryptocurrency.
However, they were less likely to have invested in stocks.
“Although manifesters may be more confident about themselves and their prospects for success, manifestation shows little objective evidence of aiding one’s success.

Jumping Ash (1976) by Leong Po-chih
The realism in the presentation of both the criminal world and the way police worked at the time is also evident, with Leong highlighting the fact that a number of poor people were actually caught between the two. The punishment Callan's girlfriend receives in the hands of two men (despite the fact that one of them gets his share also) and the fate of the blind man, are the most indicatory of that comment. Furthermore, the combination of corruption (even Callan's mother gets a washing machine from a drug dealer at some point) and intense bureaucracy is presented as an obstacle (in Callan's effort) to dispense justice, which was frequently rather hard to overcome. This last aspect is what,...

Maybe just seeing the song title “Oh Yeah” written out plainly on the page like this won’t trigger any immediate memories — but trust us, you know it. Recorded in 1985 by Swiss electronic duo Yello, “Oh Yeah” is the song that blew up thanks to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Secret of My Success — the one that goes “doo bow-bow” and then, “chick, chicka chick-ahh” —and has remained an enduring part of the pop soundscape for nearly 40 years.

Influential Italian auteur Francesco “Citto” Maselli who worked with Lucia Bosé, Claudia Cardinale, Shelley Winters and Valeria Golino on films that combined his political passion with his bent for female-centered dramas, has died in Rome.
Maselli, who was known for making left-wing militant cinema, was 92.
The director’s death was announced to Italian news agency Ansa by Maurizio Acerbo, leader of Italy’s small Communist Refoundation Party, the group of die-hard Italian leftists that Maselli championed, and confirmed by the director’s wife. The exact cause of Maselli’s death was not revealed.
Born into a cultured family originally from Italy’s Southern Molise region and raised in an intellectually stimulating environment – his father was an art critic – Maselli participated at a very early age in Italy’s partisan Resistance movement against fascists and German occupiers and as a young man started asserting his belief in Communism.

It started with a finger twitch. Michael J. Fox remembers being in bed in 1990 and staring at his pinky moving uncontrollably. At first he thought it might be a side effect from a night of heavy drinking, or perhaps his own imagination. Eventually he’d come to realize that “the trembling was a message from the future.” Three decades later, as he sits in front of a camera rocking back and forth in his chair, Parkinson’s is no longer confined to the slight fritzing of an appendage. It has taken over Fox’s entire life––visible in his struggles to walk, to hold a toothbrush, to send text messages––yet it’s never erased (only accentuated) his restless identity.
That’s abundantly clear in Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, an insightful, creatively edited documentary from director Davis Guggenheim that makes good on its title. Like the opening memory...

If the world has to figure out, if it hasn’t done so already, why Bollywood films are tanking in the box office, they only have to watch the web series ‘Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’. The brainwave of Karan Johar, it is a cringe-worthy showcase of the kind of unreal lives the denizens of Bollywood lead in their manicured homes far removed from the gritty reality of India.

The importance of believing in yourself is continually urged, yet never with the warning that unchecked self-belief in the wrong hands is a grenade. Unchecked self-belief inflated by divine righteousness? That – as nobody with a refreshed newsfeed needs reminding – is a nuclear silo.
In four-part true crime drama The Secret, James Nesbitt plays Colin Howell, a former dentist and ex-member of a Baptist church community in Northern Ireland’s Coleraine. Howell is currently serving a life sentence for double murder, plus five and a half years for multiple accounts of sexual assault on anaesthetised female patients. The Secret’s generic title belies his singular story, one of unshakable belief in the self, and in a God-given permission to kill.

Above: The Midnight AfterAs we near the end of not just a year but a decade, we’re becoming inundated with even more lists than usual, as we look back at the last ten years in cinema and are compelled to rank movies for some unknown, possibly nefarious purpose. My default answer for the question of which film has most defined this past decade is Fruit Chan’s The Midnight After (2014), a response which is usually greeted with benign indifference, bemusement, or confusion. But for those of us on its wavelength, no film more perfectly defines this accelerationist decade than the story of the end of the world as seen through sixteen people on a Hong Kong minibus who have no idea what has happened to them, why it happened, or what they should do next. They fumble through explanation after explanation as they are whittled down one by one...

As Hong Kong cinema of the 70s and 80s has increasingly become a subject of cinephile interest (more or less in opposition to the genre thrill-seekers who have always loved it), the focus has primarily been on the martial arts genre and its major auteurs and stars. But beneath the surface of the high-class productions and dazzling physical and technical displays in the best of the colony’s output, there lies an electric undercurrent of the cheap, the weird and the flat-out disgusting. By the end of the 1970s, with the...

Grab your passport and bring a sidekick. We're hunting for Alfred Hitchcock’s greatest MacGuffins
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
Spoilers lie ahead for The Trouble With Harry, Psycho, North By Northwest, To Catch A Thief, The Lady Vanishes, and...Star Wars
The MacGuffin is one of those storytelling inventions that operates by a vague “I know it when I see it” rule. The man who popularized its use, Alfred Hitchcock, didn’t help matters. When asked to define the MacGuffin – as he frequently was – he would repeat the same nonsensical joke.
In Hitchcock’s interview with François Truffaut, Truffaut attempts to establish limits on the phrase (is it “the pretext for the plot”? is it ideally “forgotten” amongst the rush of the action?). Each time, Hitch replies with an answer that amounts to little more than "sort of."

Dave Chappelle hosted a star-studded surprise comedy show at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (Sept. 19). Joining the comic for a turn on stage was the multi-hyphenate Will Smith, basketball giant and recent L.A. transplant LeBron James, Jon Stewart, Michelle Wolf, Katt Williams, Michael Che and John Mayer, who provided background guitar work and the occasional zinger.
Few of those gathered at the private venue expected such high-wattage guests, though a mandatory lock-out of all mobile devices should have offered the first clue. Indeed, there was not a cell phone in sight as jokes delivered tackled such topics as the #MeToo movement, race and religion. “Comedy ‘Fight Club'” was how Chappelle described the night, which offered more than three-and-a-half hours of belly laughs. The show also had its serious moments. Jon Stewart made an impassioned plea for gun control; Williams sang a hopeful tune for...

“The Good Place” enjoys connecting the dots. Whether the writers are crafting a joyfully twisty story or breaking down philosophical interpretations of morality, the critically hailed NBC sitcom uses its comedic engine to drive two pistons firing in unison: One fuels a compelling narrative while the other pushes viewers to think about tricky, big picture topics like the meaning of life, the meaning of death, and how morality relates to both.
In other words, there’s a lot going on in Michael Schur’s comedy, but the journey is so fun, it’s addictive.
With that in mind, let’s take a little trip, starting at “Homeland” star Claire Danes and ending on Michael Schur’s favorite joke of the season. The story circles around one brilliant episode of Season 2 — Episode 10, “Rhonda, Diana, Jake, and Trent,” which is available to stream on Hulu and NBC’s website — but illustrates the...

During her “Smallville” days, Allison Mack was unfailingly sweet, smart, and kind. She was committed to female empowerment and making a difference in the world, according to multiple sources who worked with the actress during the series 2001-2011 run.
This month, federal prosecutors described Mack in court documents as the second-in-command of a sex cult that preyed on vulnerable young women for the benefit of self-help guru Keith Raniere, who was arrested last month in Mexico.
Mack, who was arrested April 19 in New York, is accused of being a leader and prime recruiter for a sorority-esque group of young women who were manipulated into serving as “slaves” for male “masters.” She is facing 15 years to life imprisonment on charges of sex trafficking, conspiracy, and conspiracy to commit forced labor.

As the first season of NBC’s The Office drew to a close in the spring of 2005, the show was on life support. Much of the press had dismissed it as a pale retread of the groundbreaking Ricky Gervais-led U.K. original, and its ratings had fallen each week it had been on the air. But over the next two seasons, the series, starring Steve Carell as the manager of a Scranton, Pennsylvania, paper company called Dunder Mifflin, gradually found its footing. Going into its fourth season, The Office...

At a time when Disney would rather fund suffocatingly faithful (and/or toxically garish) “live-action” remakes of classic films than roll the dice on original stories for a new generation of kids, there’s something refreshing — and downright beautiful — about what Ava DuVernay has done with “A Wrinkle in Time.” Less satisfying than the recent “Pete’s Dragon,” but told with a similar degree of revisionist zeal, this eye-popping adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s beloved 1962 novel scrubs away the Christian overtones of the source material in favor of some distinctly 21st century humanism.

Greenlit means a project is officially a go, so all you have to do is follow these leads to stay up to date. You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition! “Star Wars”Reality is not big enough for David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and neither is one expansive fictional world, apparently. Disney announced last week that HBO’s “Game of Thrones” creators will be writing and producing a new series of “Star Wars” films. The series will be separate from the Skywalker saga wrapping up in 2019. The HBO hit will also be ending in 2019, but is currently filming its final season, giving Benioff and Weiss a lot of time to work on this new series, especially if the controversial “Confederate” doesn’t get off the ground at HBO. No word as to what or who the new films will follow, or its projected release,...

Twin Peaks‘ resurrection was announced more than two years ago, and David Lynch began rolling cameras with his huge, insane collection of actors more than a year ago, but co-creator and co-writer Mark Frost has given us the long-dead franchise’s first fresh heartbeat with The Secret History of Twin Peaks, an epistolary novel with a hook that fans can’t resist: in 2016, a mysterious lockbox containing an equally mysterious dossier that, per a letter written by Gordon Cole himself, “appears to have some relationship” to the original series’ events. What follows is hard to put into a concise form, except to say it’s ultimately what the title might suggest — and, as much as anything else, a big, fat teaser for the next chapter.
