Not a bad episode but could have been more
curtiskeren11 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited to see this episode, the character of Vince!Lucifer had seemed intriguing. Rick Springfield had had a presence about him in his scenes in previous episodes, and I wanted to see what he would do. I thought the result was good but not great. There were some moments where I thought he owned the character Lucifer (when he was interacting with his groupie chick or playing to the crowd outside the club) but the big final showdown didn't win my heart. I know that sounds odd but those of us who have watched from the start know that you can have creepy and evil (Nick, Alistair, the YED) who still capture our interest and in the case of Mark Pellegrino's Nick!Lucifer even our affection. So the motivation for Lucifer now, is to throw-his-toys-from-the-pram and smash-what-he-can because of his abandonment issues. Themes we are familiar with on the show (Dean is currently dealing with his own abandonment issues with Mary taking her me-time to clear her head) but I cant help feeling that Mark's Nick!Lucifer would have put more sass and derision into the monologue and we would have warmed to it a bit more. I didn't really feel Vince!Lucifer's pain. And while we still see him throwing Cas and Crowley around in an obvious display of power, he comes across as weaker then I think he is because of his whining. Nice to see a bit of motivation to our baddies, makes them less 2 dimensional, but I think it could have been better handled. Still as always there were some fun moments: the boys in leather jackets pretending to be an aspiring rock duo, Cas and Crowley bickering and Dean doing a 180 on his 'vegetable-water'. And of course the slightly tired but traditional back and fourth between the boys about how the big-bad is winning but they will keep fighting. So all in all: the episode was OK to keep the season moving on but nothing that will stand out in my memory.

Bad season...
alex-dinniz1 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The pace of the whole season is strange, there's no emotion so far, this episode wasn't any different, geez, even the characters looked bored, not good plot, not good script...

The character Lucifer on this show was totally destroyed after the middle of season 11,he now seemed powerless and not intimidating, you knew he was powerful back in season 5 BECAUSE HE ACTED LIKED ONE,at the very final moments of the episode,Sam says:"Lucifer was better when he had a motive.." You're goddanm right, but my complaint doesn't only go for the character lucifer, the whole show seems used and out of ideas,i don't feel any excitement since Andrew Dabb took the leading post, but i have to shout out to Mary, she's interesting so far...But i don't blame them, after season 11,which should've been a good ending for the show with its conditions, what could be interesting after all that mess from last season? Season 12 started a few months ago but i still don't feel like i got my Supernatural back.

Sam's clever skill gone, Crowley and Castiel moment is back!
rimailbox13 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I want to rate this episode 6 or 7 for the storyline, but I change my mind because there were some funny moments of course, especially I can see Castial and Crowley's moment again! "Unfortunately. Yey". Plus, Sam and Dean's conversation about podcast and infused water! Haha.

That's supernatural for me, I couldn't really give one episode bad rating, I luckly find an interesting part even it just a little joy when I am going to give bad rating. Ah! I guess, except Bugs episode.

I am not even great obsever of movie/storyline/etc. But this episode made me repeatly ask, if Vince was Superstar, how can the boys couldn't get his concert sooner, this 21st century, and you are in L.A, Dude. Sam could find secret of the world with his laptop, how they so hard to find just a place of nostalgia rock's concert. Sam, where is your clever skill? And of course, I get used to know Nick!Lucifer, Vince!Lucifer indeed show me how evil Lucifer is, but I couldn't feel it, the joy as much as Nick!Lucifer did, usually if Lucifer come in the story, I would be pleasant to waiting and wondering "what is he doing now?"

And for the last, can we appreciate Crowley's effort? I want to treat his wound, and I hope the boys can treat him better too, I know he made a lot of evil's things, boys, remember, he is the demon, of course it was his basic nature, he helped them so much, and he became more humane too, right? I support your friendship wishes, Crowley.

Well-Written Episodes for "Monster of the Week" are Demanded!.. :)
hamidullahgenc12 January 2017
Firstly, we say that all the chaos depicted here is the way the Earthlings take nowadays. We have stopped following meaning and turned our heads to having infinite amount and kind of fun, and one-day-worth egoism...

We've got to say, despite the rashness in writing of the episode, Rick Springfield have played the "aimless Lucifer" role so well that we, at the end, hated him not for the episode. You are good, Mr. Springfield!..

By the way, I love the characters of Castiel and Crowley, but this show must return to its darker format by keeping things related to human factor more. Then, let the horror reveal the truth in us!..

P.S.: Yes, I sense that horror serves a purpose, too, in our developmental journey on Earth. Like the concept of and belief on "reward and punishment in the Afterlife" do in us.

Being religious or not, we will stray away without any codes; and this show simulates it well for us. Thanks! But please, do it as of high quality, guys!..)

"He it is Who hath made the earth subservient unto you, therefore walk in the paths thereof and eat of His providence. And unto Him will be the Resurrection (of the dead)."

The Gracious Koran in the 15th Verse of the 67th Chapter called "The Dominion" says it all...

Lame use of Lucy
CubsandCulture26 June 2021
The show quickly corrects for this but the notion that Lucifer doesn't have a specific plan and is just acting out is not compelling in the slightest. Add in that Lucifer's sadism is so rote and this is the least interesting Lucy has ever been. I did like some of the side stuff in this episode. I.e. Crowley's connections, Winchesters pretending to be a band. But the core of it is too silly to get behind.

I also hated the teaser of the episode as the jokes were painfully unfunny.

One of the dumbest episode
rockstarum1 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
What had me questioning is that the Winchesters knew that Vincent is having a concert. And could not figure out where it was. Then how come all the Vincent fans knew about the concert ? If the fans knew, surely the Winchesters should have known from the internet or whatever. And not rely on just 3 people. And also there were other members of the band. Whom they didn't even ask. THIS IS JUST DUMB. I think is was just a filler episode. The director did not put an effort. And I thought the fans would be older people. As it's a vintage band. But instead these are bunch of college students. Which doe not make sense. Overall I gave this episode 1 star because of its poor story line.

Directionless
shwetafabm26 July 2020
This season...is the most directionless. I appreciate the motives of Lucifer, fair enough, but god i had to watch this at 1.5 speed to get through it. The dumbing down of our characters... Really Crowley isn't below torturing, what even are Castiel's powers, can he read minds? The extras were irritating as hell. Sam and Dean had funny scenes and Dean did look hella hot. That's about the only good thing.

Jusy watchable..
arc-677118 June 2021
The humorous moments were fun to watch but Rick Springfield brought it down. He really should stick to music since he's not much of an actor. Mark Pellegrino is the only one needed for this role..

Rock never dies but the show should
blackmagpie-623682 June 2018
I spent most of this episode laughing and no it is not supposed to be funny but this episode is a bit of a joke. from the aging rock star to the bad stunts, another identity crisis and petulant angel Lucifer with no plan as he himself admits, the writers do not seem to have one either. . I know that SPN has always been on a tight budget but this episode makes if more apparent and more obvious than usual. Maybe it's the directing, maybe the writing, maybe the actors are tired, maybe they think the fans will eat up any old rubbish they throw at them. The crowds and people collecting in and outside the concert make me want to cry for the show, Dean and Sam dressed up in their leathers is just as sad, Castiel v lucifer fighting scenes were so bad I laughed and then cried at the money mischa collins wasted on drama school...oh dear oh dear.
