Exclusive: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist breakout actor John Clarence Stewart has signed with The Gersh Agency for representation.
Now in its second season, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, created by Jake in Progress creator Austin Winsberg, stars Jane Levy as Zoey Clarke, a whip-smart computer coder forging her way in San Francisco. After an unusual event, Zoey, who always preferred podcasts over pop songs, suddenly starts to hear the innermost wants, thoughts and desires of the people around her – her family, co-workers and complete strangers – through popular songs.
Stewart plays Zoey’s love interest and co-worker Simon, a marketing executive at a San Francisco-based tech company, who bonds with her over a shared sense of familial grief. Stewart has received praise for his musical numbers in the show, such as his performance of “Mad World” in Season 1 and “Black Man in a White World’ in a Season 2 episode, which focused on Stewart’s character Simon,...

It’s possible that no one is having more fun on “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” than John Clarence Stewart, who plays Simon on the NBC musical comedy. But after briefly holding hands with the psychic, Zoey’s powers start to glitch, causing people’s heart songs to switch.
Mo ends up singing a country song, while Rose (Katie Findlay) belts a sassy Dua Lipa number. Maggie (Mary Steenburgen) performs what’s meant to be a competitive duet,...

So, How Was Your 2020? is a series in which our favorite entertainers answer our questionnaire about the music, culture and memorable moments that shaped their year. We’ll be rolling these pieces out throughout December.
Brandi Carlile had been riding a wave of successes in early 2020 when the pandemic hit. Her album By the Way, I Forgive You helped her win three Grammys, she joined the supergroup the Highwomen to record an album, and oversaw the triumphant return of Tanya Tucker on While I’m Livin’ all in the space of a couple years.

“Who are you?”
“B-i-double F-iffle. Biffle! S-h-double O-ooster. Shooster! We’re Biffle and Shooster! Need we say more?”
In 1928, the vaudeville comedy duo of Benny Biffle and Sam Shooster made the transition from the stage to the nascent medium of talking pictures with a pair of Vitaphone one-reelers. That move was a modest but immediate success, breaking ground on what would be a string of 20 comedy shorts made by the team for independent producer Sam Weinberg, which would both build on their reputations as worthy occupants of a comedy firmament anchored by stars like Laurel & Hardy and Abbott & Costello, but also cement Weinberg’s standing as a producer who liked to lean a little too heavily upon the blueprint of others. In 1938, Biffle and Shooster parted ways with Weinberg, but they continued to work sporadically in films, including a cameo appearance in Stanley Kramer’s It’s a Mad, Mad,...

Up until this point, I was hoping that everything that I have seen for the upcoming DC Universe series Titans was all a joke. Unfortunately for all of us, it is real and it looks stupid. Here are the 5 reasons why the new Titans trailer sucks.
1) Brenton Thwaites, the actor who plays Robin, just doesn’t do it for me. The guy is a decent actor. To me, he looks like one of those idiots from The Dark Knight running around trying to be Batman when clearly they are not. He is running around trying to be Robin when clearly he is just constipated. I am not a fan.
2) Starfire’s costume design is ridiculous. On a positive note, I love the costume design of Raven and Beastboy. Don’t get me wrong, I like the choice of Anna Diop for the role. I just think they made her look like a 1970’s groupie.

Movie-going audience members under the age of forty will not recall motion picture theatrical exhibition in the 1970s. It was a most interesting time when drive-ins and even first-run movie theaters would pair up an older feature film, generally one that was one to two years-old, with the main feature on a double-bill. A handful of theaters in my area used to engage in midnight showings of older films, too. One theater exclusively ran The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) for years while another alternated between Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Ralph Bakshi’s Wizards (1971), Led Zeppelin’s The Song Remains the Same (1976), David Lynch's art-house favorite Eraserhead (1977) and Alan Parker's Pink Floyd The Wall (1982). Other showcases included uncensored bloopers featuring Carol Burnett, the Three Stooges, and Abbott and Costello.

The housing issues in post-handover Hong Kong has been a recurring theme in Hk movies recently, as we witnessed in films like “Mad World”, which uses it as a base to present a number of social comments. New writers-directors Stephen Ng Hon-Pong and Nero Ng Siu-lun use the issue in similar fashion, although in a completely different approach, which lingers somewhere between the parody and the slapstick comedy.

Back in the 1960s, the line between TV and movie stars was never more clearly defined, with actors from television seldom being able to make it on the big screen while film actors turned their noses up at the small screen. Don Knotts, however, was an exception, not only dreaming of movie stardom, but actually achieving it. In some ways, that's pretty surprising when you consider just how successful he was as Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show. He played the character with the understanding that series star Andy Griffith only intended to stay with it for five years, giving himself a deadline of sorts by which he needed to parlay that show's success into something bigger. Andy ended up changing his mind because of financial incentives thrown his way, while Don didn't, having been offered a five-film deal with Univeral. He chose to leave the show,...

In this second part of our chat, Smith talks about the planned Death House sequels And prequel, along with this other projects Garlic and Gunpowder, Skulk and Keepsake, plus he offer advice on how to break into filmmaking.
If you haven’t read part one of our interview, you can check that out right here Definitely read that part before reading further!
So there’s going to be an prequel and five sequels to Death House.. how many of these have go completed scripts so far and when are you looking to start shooting them?
Death House 2 has a completed script, the others are in treatment phase. As for shooting dates I don’t know. The problem with this industry is that everybody bullshi*ts.

This eye-catching design for the film adaptation of Murakami Ryu's 1994 novel, making its debut at Sundance, has a kind of Jack Davis sort of look. Davis, most famous for Mad Magazine, had a long good run on movie posters in the 1970s, including The Long Goodbye, The Bad News Bears, and It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Add in a border with rounded corners, textured yellow (yellow is often code-colour for indie-film) and the distressed poster look, which was kind of trendy in around 2007-2009, but has faded a way now enough that it is not offensive here. Throw in some blood splatters, a tiny rabbit, and is that the gimp from Pulp Fiction? Ahhh, Sundance....
